Trusting you!!

Yesterday was a hard day for my Bambi, emotionally, that is, and she cried a lot. I felt terrible that I could not do more to help her feel better other than be here and hold her giving her comfort, and soon she went to sleep and has been asleep since I hope she's not upset when she wakes, but I have some work to go do this morning so as much as I want to lay here with her and watch her sleep I can't.

I know my Ma will be blowing me up if I don't show up for breakfast, so reluctantly I get out of bed and go get dressed I go out to make some coffee and decide I'll make a whole pot, so it's ready for her when she wakes up.

I find some paper and pencil writing her a note telling her I had some work to do on the farm, I made her some coffee and my cell was on the night stand if she needed anything to call mama's number, I will be back around noon.

Putting the note on the pillow I go slip my work boots on and grab a jacket I walk out to the truck and head to the farm house pulling in I see I'm first to arrive going in quietly I can smell breakfast, so I know mama's awake I walk in greeting her "Mornin Mama" kissing her head and hugging her she says "Good morning son how'd you sleep?" I smiled, chuckling." I slept great mama what's for breakfast?" she laughs at me and says the same as every day, son sit and eat, the others will be here soon, so I take my coffee and sit in my usual chair.

Filling my plate up Mama asks how Destiny is doing, so I tell her about the rest of the day after she had left and what doc said I also told her that she called her mother and the emotional toll it has taken on her and the flashbacks she had last night.

Mama looked sad as she said "That poor child I bet she is afraid and confused, but she seems to be pretty trusting in you to keep her safe right, and you know I wouldn't mind if she came here while you are working. I can keep her company and teach her a few things oh, and I bet Misty would like her too" I tried to tell my mother to calm down and let her adjust awhile, but my siblings came barreling in like a heard of elephants as always loud and obnoxious, so I drop it and focus on my food, so I can get the hell out of here and go get my chores done for the morning.

Misty sits next to me. "Hey, big brother," she says, smiling so widely I can see her wisdom's "Morning Misty." I replied, shaking my head. She giggles and says, "Where's your girl?" I looked at her, raising my eyebrows. I said, "It is 4:30 in the morning. She is sleeping at home. Please don't go bugging her. Let her rest. She needs to heal. Maybe after her scan today, you can come over and go with me to take her shopping. She needs some warmer clothing. The weather's changing." She got excited and clapped her hands. "Yes! Yes, that would be so fun!! I laughed at her excitement. After I am done, I get up, take my plate, and move to the sink. I rinse and set it in the strainer.

I said goodbye to Mama and went to walk out the door when my oldest brother bound up, hollering, "Hey Bill, where are you off to? "I replied, "Goin to do the cows this morning. " He smiles at me and says, "Wait up, I've got cows too. So, let me grab my bagel and coffee. Do you need a refill?" Looking at him, I smiled and said," Sure, just hurry the sooner we go. The sooner I'm done,I have other shît to do today."

He laughs and goes in for his food. I went to the coffee table for my coffee, adding sugar. I stir it up, and Pops comes over, squeezing my shoulder, "Son, how are ya doing this mor'nin?" I smile at him and tell him I'm good today. He says "Good...good and the girl." He asks, "How's she doin'? " I tell him she's resting and doing alright. He says "Good take care of her son!" He pats my back and walks away. That's my father, just straight to the point, no use beating around the bush or shooting the shît as he always says.

I chuckled, shaking my head at him. "OK pa, you know I will!" I hollered to him. He waved at what he heard and moved on. I walked to the door and waited outside for Jordan to come out, sipping my coffee. I relish the quietness.

I heard the door and turned to see my brother Charles coming out smiling. I say, "Hey, he smiles back and asks what I'm doing, so I tell him, and we wait for Jordan." It looks like the 3 of us are on cows. When he comes out, we all load into the truck and go down the road...

Work takes too long, and I am sick of it now.

Thankfully, I finished and headed home. It was 11 a.m., and I needed a shower and to see my Bambi. I got home and went inside. I didn't hear anything, so I called her "Bambi." She hollers "Im in here' from the bedroom. I walked in and saw she was reading a book. I walked to her and leaned down, pecking her lips saying, "I stink and need a shower." she giggles, and I have to say it is becoming one of my favorite sounds besides her full laugh. It is adorable, and I always want to be the reason that she does it.

I walked into the bathroom and got in the shower after I got washed up and got out. I wrapped a towel around me and went to get dried off and dressed. Going into the walk-in closet. I shut the door and got some jeans and a T-shirt pulled on my clothes.

I came out, and Destiny was sitting there looking nervous. I asked what was wrong and sat next to her, holding her hand. She looked worried, so I squeezed her hand to comfort her.

When she looked at me, she was nervous "I think we should call the detective on my case and tell her what we do know so far and see if maybe she can come meet us somewhere here or in town somewhere. I don't know if I am comfortable with them knowing where the farm is, so maybe have them meet us in town. I don't know." I just looked at her. She was rambling, but maybe she needed it to voice her thoughts. Either way, it might not be a bad idea.

Then maybe they can try and find out who did this to her. I smiled at her holdingherhand, "We can do whatever you are comfortable with, and I agree it is the best place to start." she nodded her approval and went to get up, but I held her hand tighter and stopped her when she looked down, Do you feel better today?" she smiled squeezing my hand, "I am fine right now, and I do feel better. It's just a lot to deal with. I have some memories that come and go, but I can't fit them into place. It's like they have no meaning other than the ones of my mother." she paused then said,

"I don't know what they mean or when they happened, and I'm not even sure if they are memories. My gut tells me they are, but because I'm so confused I keep doubting myself and, honestly, I don't know what I am doing, but the only thing I'm sure of is that I can trust you, and you won't hurt me, but I don't even know how I know that it's just a feeling like inside of me and I just know!" she sighs heavily, and I can't help but to grab her and hug her to me my God this woman has landed in my life scared, lost, confused, and she is trusting me to keep her safe and by hell I will do just that!

I pulled back to hold her face in my hands, looking into her brown eyes.I said,"I've got you always! I'll never let anything happen to you again." I kissed her lips softly and held her close for a minute, pulling away. I ask if she is ready to go to get her scan done. She smiles and says, "Yeah, thank you for everything and being here for me" I grab her hand, leaving the room. I tell her,"No place I'd rather be baby!"

The drive to town took 15 mins.

We talked a bit about the call to the detective, and she decided she wants to make the call when she was done with the scan, so we went to get her checked in Radiology and waited until they called her back.

I waited for her to finish. When she was done, I took her to the Café down the street, and we ordered a small lunch and while we wait she wanted to call Detective Evans.

Destiny was nervous and asked me to talk to her first, so I made the call, and it went to voicemail after a few times ringing, so I left a message to call me back telling her it's about Destiny, Waters, and hung up the call telling Destiny now we will wait..
