Chapter 9

JAI XIA

I woke up in Xavier's arms.

He was holding my waist just like he had last night.

I tried to move and get up with out waking him but to my dismay he tighten his grip around my waist.

"Jai Xia, where are you going... Sleep a little longer... Just 10 more minutes... Please..."

He said softly his voice still raspy from his sleep.

I didn't know what has gotten into him but I wasn't waiting around to find out.

I pulled oit of his embrace and got out of bed, wrapping the sheet over my body as if I was naked.

" Sir... You need to get out of this... This trance or whatever it is you are in... I am going to take a shower and get ready, than... We can go to you home..."

I said and walked straight into the bathroom.

I locked the door and dropped the sheet.

What was this man up to?

I took a shower and got dressed in my clothes from yesterday.

I had only one set left and I wore it yesterday.

I walked out of the bathroom and to my surprise Xavier was still in bad.

"Sir... I'm done... Im heading down you can... Take a shower and... Get ready..."

I didn't wait for his response, I grabbed my bags, or at least one bag and ran down.

I met my mother in the kitchen, she was busy preparing breakfast.

"Hey mom... Where's dad...?"

She looked at me and smiled than pointed to the garden out back.

I walked out to find my father reading his paper.

"Hey daddy..."

He looks up and smiled.

"My baby... How did you sleep... Where's Xavier?"

I didn't want to say anything weird...

"Um he just went to shower, we slept little late this morning so he must be in a rush now to get back to his... Um I mean our home..."

That was close.

My dad frowned but just nodded.

Mom soon brought our breakfast outside and Xavier followed her out.

He came and sat next to me.

He was acting all weird since last night.

He than proceeded to dish out for me and than himself.

I jusy watched him like a mouse watching a cat as it approaches to catch it.

I was ready to jump at the slightest weird move.

My parents were watching me without me noticing.

"Um... So Xavier... How was your business trip... Any progress...?"

My dad broke the awkward silence.

Suddenly Xavier's expression changes.

He seems sad, angry and worried at the same time.

He smiled at dad than started eating.

"I made some progress, but the deal is not yet done so..."

Came his reply.

He and dad soon started a conversation.

Me and mom cleared the table and I went to fetch my bags.

Those that were still upstairs.

I walked in and grabbed my last few things when I heard Xavier's phone ring.

I walked over and saw a familiar name.

BELLA

I was a little startled but came to my senses right away.

She was still part of his life even after 3 months of marriage, so I guess last night was really just his confusion or something.

I didn't pay much attention to it when it rang again.

Than Xavier came in and picked up the phone but strangely he didn't answer.

"Sir... I am heading out... You can answer the call in the bathroom... Its sound proof..."

I said than walked out, closing the door behind me.

I waited for over an hour in the living room.

Xavier appeared but he seemed upset.

As I got up so we could leave he spoke.

" Um... Mom... Dad... I'm sorry but will it be okay if Jai Xia stayed a few more days, that... Um business deal seem to have come through and well I need to head back to work and I don't want Jai Xia to be alone at home while I am busy in the office... So... "

He seemed really upset but he acted all calm and collected.

My parents looked shocked, but both agreed.

He just smiled, nodded than left without a word to me.

I couldn't understand what just happened.

At breakfast he acted all lovely dovey but now he didn't even say goodbye.

What will my parents think now.

I smiled, than reassured my parents.

"He must be really busy with this deal... He is always like this... Don't worry..."

They just nodded and went on their way.

I walked back up and watched the clouds from my window.

How many days was a few days...

Was it 1 week?

Was it 2 days?

I wanted to call him and ask but I felt to afraid.

So I just took out all my clothes and took it to the laundry.

I spent the next few days like I had done at home.

Studying, cooking and walking around in the garden with my father was the only down time I gave myself.

The few days turned into a week and soon it was Friday.

We were busy having breakfast when the phone rang.

Mom got up to go answer it.

Xavier had called and told my mom to tell me to get ready as he was heading over to pick me up.

I finished breakfast and headed upstairs.

I grabbed my things than packed as fast as possible.

Mom said Xavier sounded a bit off so I didn't want to upset him if he got here and I wasn't ready.

Xavier arrived early around 10 and didn't say much.

We sat with my parents a while than he called Sam to take my bags.we greeted my parents than left.

I didn't saying anything to him in the car.

We drove home and when we arrived he dropped me off than left once again.

"Aaaawww... Jai Xia your finally home..."

Came Mrs Noona voice from the kitchen.

She was so delighted to see me.

I hughed her.

"Yeah, but... Yeah... So how was your holiday... You know while I was away...?"

I was going to ask her if Xavier was home since the last time we were here together but I wasn't sure I wanted to know.

I was actually feeling stupid.

I knew my place in this marriage and I had to remember not to gross the line.

I soon felt like my own self again.

Two weeks pasted but Xavier never once got home.

I was getting worried but than I saw the news.

-Miss Bella Ann was admitted to a hospital in Wallis England over two weeks ago for trying to commit suicide -

The news was shocking.

Now I finally knew why he left in such a hurry and why he went to England in the first place, she was there.

But did something happen before he came back that she actually wanted to commit suicide after her left?

I wasn't even going to ask as I wasn't in the position to ask anyway.

I knew why he was there and I knew to not feel upset as our marriage was just a business deal to him.

I had to just stick it out another 3 years and 9 months or so..

Than I thought about Bella's condition.

Maybe he will divorce me sooner.

I suddenly felt happy.

I was going to be free soon.
