Remember to Forget

I sit and watch as the people dance and sing and celebrate my wedding, the wedding was grand and more than 3000 people came from across the city. I was the only one who wasn't celebrating. I had married a man who asked me even before I agreed to the marriage to sign a marriage contract. Yes a marriage contract. His name is Xavier Lee, he was the only son in the Lee family for 5 Generations and was expected to marry into a strong family with good roots. Now I was the only girl in my famy for the last 16 years so when Xavier's Father who was my Father's old friend came to ask for my hand, even though i was only 16 my family didn't hesitate. I am Ying Jai Xia, i am 16 and from Shanghai. My family is well known and quiet well of but nevertheless everyone here loves my family because my father has been a great influence in the community. So naturally when Mr Lee asked my father for my marriage my father was delighted. I didn't want to disobey my father so I also accepted. But a few days before my wedding I met my groom. Xavier was the most handsome man I ever saw, he was wearing a black suite and white shirt his hair combed up and to the side, he has a very sharp jawline and the most beautiful gray green eyes, his complexion is a white as snow, he is exactly like those models you see on tv. We met for coffee at a cafe near my home. As we sat he had taken out a document and placed it before me. "MISS YING... I don't want you to marry me without knowing the truth, and I will give you the chance to back out of this marriage before it's to late..." He said and I understood something wasn't right. He took a deep breath than continued. He said he has been in love with a woman from Shanghai her name was Bella Ann Jay. She was the only daughter from a very influential family but just graduated from college so she wanted to continue her studies and wasn't ready to get married, thats why his father forced him to accept me. He said he wasn't going to accept this marriage unless I knew what was in store once we're married. He than opened the document and handed it to me. It was a marriage contract. #1. No sharing the room, unless family is around, and than if a room is shared no sharing of the bed. #2. No physical contact at all. #3. She wasn't allowed to see anyone male without him around. #4. She wasn't allowed to have breakfast or any meal with him on the table unless family was around. #5. She had to study from home if she wished to continue her studies after marriage. #6. Only her close relative was allowed in his home. #7. She wasn't allowed to leave the house without him, or her fat or mother. #8.She has to full fill the duties as his wife in public under all circumstances. #9. After 4 years she will accept the divorce without any objection and accept an alimony of 20% of all his belongings. #10. She can never disclose this contract to anyone. She looked at the contract and asked him one question. "Sir, if I may... Can you add one last condition. He looked at her, and felt quite surprised. He looked away and said okay. #UNDER THE TIME STIPULATIONS OF THIS CONTRACT HE WAS TO NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH HER AND SHE NOT WITH HIM. He laughed so loud that even the family Lawyer was surprised. He looked at her with a small smile. "Okay, but I can promise you this condition even without this condition in the contract as I only love Bella and will love her only until I die." She felt like she was just humiliated, but she just smiled meekly than signed the contract before watching him sign it. He ordered the lawyer to take the document and submit them than he got up and left. He never looked back once. 5 DAYS LATER. The wedding was grand after all the official ceremony things was completed Xavier made an excuse and left her there alone to continue the rest of the celebration. She felt happy but sad. Its her wedding day but she was alone. And knowing that she was to go to his home in a few hours time was something she dreaded. She knew they wasn't really married, but that its just a contract but her family was sure she would have a great life with Xavier. Soon it's time for her to leave to her new home. Xavier sent his car to collect her and the driver told her mother that Xavier was stuck in a meeting but would meet them at home.. He mother felt something was wrong but she kept quite and sent her daughter away. JIA XIA reached to his home. As she entered the house was dark and cold. There's was not a single person around. She felt extremely uncomfortable and sad, but just smiled knowing she was doing this for her father. As she was about to step in a older woman cam from the kitchen. She turned the lights on and immediately recognized Jai Xia. "my dear I'm so sorry I wasn't aware you would be coming here today as Xavier and Miss Bella... She suddenly stopped... Um, I mean..." "DON'T worry, I know about Bella and Xavier so don't mind me, um... Im Jai Xia... I will be staying here for a while... Can you..." The old woman understood what Jai Xia just said. She felt so sad knowing Xavier did this marriage and that such things has taken place. She stepped forward and held Jia Xia's hand. " It's okay, I'm Noona May, I have been looking after this family since Xavier was in middle school, so I am so sorry to have you come here in this condition,but don't worry I will take good care of you, come I will show you your room." I smile and watch her as we head up the stairs. We pass three room and than mine is there. I walked into a big room with big windows. The bed was even as big as the floor. She showed me the closet and than the bathroom and soon she left me to unpack. I was to tierd to do anything so I just left everything on the floor and jumped on the bed, still wearing my wedding dress, I curled up and fell asleep...
