Chapter Thirty-Seven -I didn't realise she thought that.

1207 Words
Parker I am shattered by the time I arrive home. I am met with Arlo on the sofa watching a horror movie. “Everyone in bed?” I ask. “Alison is at her girl’s house. Tyson is with God knows who, and Violet just went to bed not too long ago. I made chili for dinner if you haven’t had a chance to eat.” He smiles. “Oh, yum. I will have a small bowl. I need a beer; do you want one?” He nods. I dump my things and head to the kitchen. Arlo makes the best chili. I heat some up, grab two beers and join him on the sofa. “How was your night?” I ask. “Yeah, been good. Violet and I watched some movies and chilled.” He smiles. “Do you know if she got everything she needed when she went shopping?” “Yes, and a little something extra just for you.” He smirks. “For me?” “Yes. She made a stop at the lingerie store.” How did I not know that was what he meant? My curiosity gets the best of me, “What did she buy?” “You will need to wait and see. Though, she seems to think you have lost interest in her.” I look at him, confused, “What? Why would she think that?” What have I done or said to make her believe I wasn’t interested in her? “It is how she is feeling. I think it is because nothing has happened between you and ages, but also because you have been flirting or hitting on her like you usually do.” He answers. “No, it is not that at all. I know it was all getting too much for her, the three of us at one point. I just didn’t want her to start stressing out and worrying again. There is no other reason for it.” The last thing I wanted was to make her feel like I didn’t want her. I was being respectful. I didn’t want to push. I was going to change our situation this weekend if she wanted to, but if she went shopping for lingerie, it would seem like she is. “You know what Violet is like. She worries and overthinks everything. Though, I will tell you one thing, you are for a treat next weekend. You should probably tell her you still want her, or she will continue to wonder.” He smiles and pats my leg. “I will talk to her in the morning.” I smile back. I don’t want to wake her up since she has not long gone to bed. She must have been tired. I have my food and watch some of the movie with Arlo before going to grab a quick shower before bed. I strip down and step into the warmth. My mind wonders back to what Arlo said. I really hope I didn’t make Violet feel unwanted or rejected. It is the last thing I want. I honestly had no idea I was causing those thoughts for her. It hasn’t been easy to keep my distance from her. Yes, she has hooked up with other guys a few times over the last couple of weeks, which is fine. I just didn’t want anything to get too much for her again. I sigh and focus on my shower. I don’t stay in long. I stroll to my room and pull some joggers on to sleep in. I am about to climb into bed but change my mind. I head to Violet’s room. I sneak in and slip into the bed behind her. “Whose there?” she asks tiredly. “Hey, beautiful. It is Parker. I didn’t mean to wake you.” “Why did you come in if you weren’t planning to wake me up?” she laughs. “Maybe I wanted cuddles.” I chuckle and snake my arm around her, pulling her body back against mine. “Okay, creep.” She teases but links her fingers with mine. I kiss over her shoulders, “I am sorry if I made you feel rejected or unwanted, Violet.” I whisper. She shifts and turns to face me. I can make her out with the moonlight peeking through the curtains. “I guess you had a conversation with Arlo?” “Yes. You should have said something beautiful.” I reply and caress her cheek. “It is okay. You didn’t make me feel those things. You have the right to change your mind,” She says softly. “I haven’t changed my mind, angel. I just didn’t want to make you feel overwhelmed again with the three of us.” “That was sweet of you, but it had nothing to do with you guys. It was me. I got in my head, and so did my ex.” She sighs. “I know, beautiful, but don’t let him get to you. And I would be an i***t not to want you still, Violet.” I smile and kiss the top of her head. “Yes, you would be.” She giggles and prods my nose. I laugh loudly and kiss her softly, “I promise I will make it up to you when we are away next weekend.” “Mmm, I will look forward to it.” She moans. I rest my hand on her hip and pull her closer to me, “A little birdie told me you went sexy shopping too today.” “Oh, I wonder who that little bird was,” She snickers, “But, yes, I did. You will see it next weekend and not before.” “Can’t I even get a sneak peek?” I pout. “No. You will have to wait.” She laughs and kisses me. I smile into her lips and happily kiss back. I part from the kiss first, “As much as I would love to continue this, we should get some sleep.” “Good idea. You must be exhausted after such a long day.” I steal one last kiss, and she turns away from me again. She reaches behind her, yanking my arm. I get the hint. I scoot closer and snake my arm around her. Our fingers link again, and we settle down for the night. It will be nice to fall asleep next to her again. It doesn’t take long for her to fall back asleep. I am excited for our weekend. It would be nice to have her all to myself for a couple of nights. I can make up for lost time and make sure she knows how much I still want her. I smirk at the thought. It has been a while since anything has happened between us. I push the thoughts to the back of my mind before I end up becoming excited. I close my eyes and allow sleep to come over me. I have work again tomorrow, not as long as a day as today, but still have it, so some sleep is what I need.
