Author’s Note Threads. Cookies. Those are what Salad Days is all about. As I wrote this novel, I had some ideas about where the story would go, but it took some interesting paths that I didn’t expect. That’s where the threads come in—all of the main characters wrestled with the past this season, and their relationships wove together in beautiful and unexpected ways. As for the cookies—well…against all advisement from the sane people of the world, I ate a lot of cookies as I wrote Salad Days. I drank a lot of juice that I shouldn’t have, too. But I also ate a lot of vegetables. To prepare myself for Season 2, I ate every vegetable that had a presence in the novel. Before I wrote Brocc’s chapters, I would eat broccoli the night before. I grabbed a hotdog before I started writing Monte
