Chapter 32 Kendall’s focus returned as he felt himself set down gently on a cot. He was in a tent. He must have blacked out after seeing the strange man in the desert. He had thought it all an illusion, but it couldn’t have been. He was still alive. He felt his heart beating, his lungs expanding and collapsing, the desert heat swelling against his skin. The green bell pepper was sitting in a chair across from him, and he handed Kendall a rusting tin cup of cold water.
