Chapter 6 Lady Duxelle stood on the deck of the royal airship as it cruised through the night sky. The balmy air swirled with fruit fireflies, their multi-colored bulbs flickering in the fields below. She studied the horizon; they had lost sight of the castle several hours ago. The final few miles of vegetable fields laid ahead, giving way to dark jungles that stretched as far as she could see. The ship, a long, yellow carrot with green, leafy masts and propellers, creaked as an asparagus captain in the wheelhouse turned the wheel. She had gotten used to the soil-like smell of the walls below and the ginger hardwood deck, but she still hadn’t spent much time aboard the royal airship.
