It is 10.30 AM in the morning. Six people are enjoying like an occasion at the Oak Office. The stamina, energy and interest for such kind of work is really rare among the children of this generation where the Scorpish g**g is a lot different. They know how to find happiness out of the world of technologies.
At a time most of their classmates are busy with android devices, PCs, play stations, they are outside of the house, in the realm of nature, having their own kind of fun. Maybe this is one of the reasons why Uncle Rick does not create any obstacle in their ways but it cannot be said affluently. He knows better himself. Now he is busy in drawing a shape for the wooden house. He has spread a paper sheet on a wooden board, which is kept on a bench. He has a pencil in his right hand, on the left one he is holding his phone which is showing results according to their necessary from online. He is looking at his phone and drawing on the paper. Before that the boys have decided what type of house would look better. In about 30 minutes the drawing is complete and they have already started to imagine the house there.
Paul says, "How long will it take to complete this uncle?"
Uncle Rick says, "It shouldn’t take much time to complete the main structure. The other things like paint job, finishing etcetera might take a while."
Ross says, "When do we start working?"
Elliott says, "So, what are we doing now?"
Ross says, "C'mon! I mean when do we start attaching the boards together?"
Elliott says, "Make it specific then idiot."
Uncle Rick says, "I got it dear. We're gonna begin now, here."
Peter says, "That's awesome! Tell us then what to do."
Ross says, "And please don't act like grandpas anybody. Move your muscle and put some sweat on the ground."
Jonas says, "Yes, sir. Not a problem. We're under Uncle Rick's orders now."
Uncle Rick says, "Command! Bring in the frames now!"
All of a sudden a vibe like they are in the army spreads in the air. And after seeing their working spirit no one could have doubted it. Uncle Rick is sitting on a bench and giving orders from there. According to his orders the boys are working.
At first they bring steel frames. They put those on the ground parallelly. The frames have holes after every two inches and they are almost two meters long. They make five parallel sets. Then they bring the boards and start setting them up on the frames. The boards are meant to be set on those frames and they also have respective holes exactly on the frame holes.
Elliott says, "Where are the screws uncle?"
Uncle Rick says, "They are in a packet beside the driver's seat of my truck. Ross can you get those for me please?”
Ross says, “Here I come.” They see that Ross jumps over that branch and in 30 seconds he again jumps in with a yellow plastic bag. It does not look that heavy but it is clearly seen that Ross is having trouble while carrying this.
Uncle Rick says, “It’s heavier than it looks, isn’t it?”
Peter says, “How?”
Ross says, “Wanna have a try? Go on then.” He hands that bag over to Peter then and Peter soon starts to freak out and put it on the ground.
Uncle Rick says, “How did ya’ like that dear?”
Peter says, “Don’t mention. Let’s get to work again.” Everyone starts laughing and then focuses on their works.
Uncle Rick says, “Ok, in the bag there are a lot of screws and bolts. You don’t need to use electric screw appliance for these screws. They need to be set up by hand. So let’s get going.”
As soon as he says to set up the screws the boys started to work hard for getting them done. At first they inserted the screws from one side and then finish bolting from the back side of the frames. Although they thought it easy at first soon they find out it is much tougher and lengthy task. In half an hour they have finished and the frames are ready. They could understand that the frames are gonna be used as walls and roof for the house. They are planning to make an A sized roof.
Peter says, “What do we need to do next?”
Uncle Rick says, “The thing in next is to do some rest!” He comes up with a rhythm instantly and everyone laughs.
Uncle Rick says, “What I mean is we’ve done enough for today morning. Now we all should go to our homes. Everyone’s parents must be worried. We’ll see you guys again in the afternoon, okay?”
Ross says, “Okay. I can come. Does anyone has any problems?”
Paul says, “I don’t think I’ll be able to come. I have some works to do at home. Will you guys be here tomorrow morning?”
Uncle Rick is going to ask further questions about his works but Peter stops him by holding his hands, out of Paul’s sight and he stops.
Peter says, “Yeah, no problem. We’ll see you tomorrow then.”
Paul says, “I must get going. See you guys soon. Bye.”
Ross says, “Goodbye Paul, and don’t be late like Peter.” Paul has the same old smile on his face when he says farewell and walks away from the oak office.
Uncle Rick says, “He works in the afternoon shift right?”
Elliott says, “Exactly.”
Uncle Rick says, “I wish I could do something for him. But he has his uncle over him. However, we all can at least pray for his betterment only.”
Peter says, “We all should.”
Jonas says, “Yeah, obviously. By the way what do we need to do in the afternoon uncle?”
Uncle Rick says, “Yeah about it. Look there are some vital things that none of us can do. So we have to take help of a professional. And don’t worry I have someone familiar nearby. I’ll call him here in the afternoon.”
Elliott says, “Uncle, here’s a thing. That is we are trying to keep this place private. Total six of us know till today. If we allow others then soon this place will be in the wrong hands. Many may use it as their d**g taking center. You know what I’m talking talkin’ about.”
Uncle Rick says, “That’s a good concern then. How about I take the boards home and call him there. And when the work is done we’ll bring them back here and just fit the frames on spot. Things will be all done.”
Peter says, “That’s a good plan. So the work here is done?”
Uncle Rick says, “Not yet dear. We need a concrete ground. Or else the wood boards will start to rot soon. Ross and Elliott, go and bring the packets.”
Soon they come back with a packet of cement and some tools. Then all four of them return to the truck and bring some ceramic bricks. As Uncle Rick’s orders, they clean an area of that specific corner of the oak office and removed all the grass too. Uncle Rick marks an area with his crutch. Then they cover the whole area with bricks while Uncle Rick makes a mixture in a pot to fill them up with concrete. He puts five short steel cylinder type things in the holes of three corners and at a side of the middle part of the brick floor. He says that he would remove those steels after the concreting step and the gap will allow them to fit the frames in place. Then he slowly covers the whole floor with that concrete mixture. After finishing it he tells the boys to get all the frames on the truck.
The boys make it quick and finishe all the job. They clean the whole area again and get all equipment and tools in the truck. When the concrete floor starts to dry up, uncle Rick tells Peter to bring some water. He and Ross bring water in a bucket from a house nearby. Then Uncle Rick makes the floor wet again and declares that the work of this morning is fully done now. Now they have nothing to do except going back home and finish their regular chores.
Peter says, “So when do we go to your house?”
Uncle Rick says, “As soon as possible. I might need more hands in the job.”
Ross says, “Don’t worry. I’ll be there after I’ve finished my lunch. When will that man?”
Uncle Rick says, “He is at home now. He is always free. I’ll just get home and make a call.”
Jonas says, “We’ll be there. Goodbye guys.”
Peter says, “Ok, I’ll be there soon enough.”
Ross goes with Uncle Rick. Jonas and Peter walk to their homes. Peter takes his shower, has his lunch, gives his granny medicine and then lies down on the sofa to watch television. His sleep breaks as the bell rings of their wall-clock at 4.00. He hurries and rushes to Uncle Rick’s. When he reaches there Ross was already working as a helping hand. He is putting the frames in a stack. The other man who was supposed to come has already left. He sees that there is a V shaped module kept on the truck. He does not need to be told that it is going to be the roof of their house. He also notices that the gaps of wood planks have been filled with something and every frame has extra steel parts attached to it.
Ross says, “Hey man! That uncle was super-duper awesome. He was like sheu shao and boom! Everything’s done!”
Peter says, “That’s why they’re called pro.”
Ross says, “Yeah, you’re right.”
Peter says, “Where’s Uncle Rick?”
Uncle Rick says, “Here I am. Your aunt is a bit ill from morning. So she’s sleeping and won’t be able to meet you guys. Although I’ve managed something to eat. Don’t worry about that haha.”
Peter says, “Man! That was rude! Obviously Aunt Sarah is more than a cook to us.”
Uncle Rick says, “Just kidding. She’ll be fine soon.”
And then Elliott and Jonas arrive together. They ask about the packet in Uncle Rick’s hand and expressed their sympathy for Aunt Sarah. At the same time they are as surprised as Peter and Ross after seeing the progress in the work.
Uncle Rick says, “Jonas, come with me. You’re gonna sit beside me. Get the frames on the truck and get yourselves on it too. Come on fast!”
As said they together take all the frames and load them on the truck. They enjoy a bit when the air is making them feel like birds. Again in energetic mood they get into the oak office. Elliott maintains the rope formality. Uncle Rick tells the boys to bring all the frames and equipment in the oak office. It is pretty hard but still they somehow manage to get those frames in through the bushes.
At this time Uncle Rick checks the concrete and tells Ross to bring some water again. After making the floor wet, Uncle Rick tells them that they need to wait for about 30 minutes again. He gets busy to add some extra support with those steel particles at the corners of the floor. Now the four boys understand the necessity of extended steels of the frames. The science is pretty simple.
Uncle Rick says, “Let’s have something while we wait. Anyone hungry?”
Everyone raises their voices in an affirmative way but clearly Jonas makes the loudest one among them. After finishing eating chapter and some moments of gossiping Uncle Rick tells them that the floor is ready to hold on the frames. They successfully fit all of them on their respective places. Placing the roof is pretty tough but they do it perfectly after failing several times. The shaping is already done.
It is ultimately an A sized small house with some extra shade at one side. There is an extra part at one side under a single framed roof, parallel with the ground, and two steel pillars are holding it. It is also standing on the brick floor. They did not notice first but they see that the door is still open and some part of a frame is cut off. They understand that this is where the door will take place. Uncle Rick says that the door will need extra equipment to be perfect and it will be ready tomorrow. The work for today is done. They all return their homes after making sure all of them to come tomorrow morning in time
