Chad. (6)

Phoenix knocked on the door of our father's office in the pack-house, and we waited for permission to enter. "Chad, Phoenix, what is it?" he asked us as we closed the door behind us. "We have information," I told him, before he had the chance to dismiss us. "Information about what?" he eyed the pair of us. "You're not going to like what we have to say," Phoenix explained. He eyed us again curiously. "Go on," "We have found our mate. She collapsed at our border this morning. She was badly injured, she is currently in the Alpha house, recovering," I began. "She is mated to both of us, and we have agreed to keep it that way. However, she is a rogue now, as she has just recently escaped from her previous pack, the crescent moon pack, run by Alpha-" Phoenix was interrupted. "Felix," my father whispered. The room went quiet for a minute. I don't know what reaction we were expecting from our father, but this wasn't it. He sat behind his desk with his hands covering his face, muttering to himself. "Chad, you have agreed to continue to share this...mate, with Phoenix?" he asked me, not looking up at either of us. "Of course I have, father," I told him. "Then you are a fool, reject her, the pair of you," he spat at us, finally looking at us, his eyes darted from Phoenix to me. "We can't do that," I began. "Father, we have been looking for our mates for years, and now she found us, collapsing right on our doorstep. If we reject her, this pack may never have another Luna. Who will take over when our time passes?" I asked him in disbelief, shocked he'd even say such a thing. "You can impregnate another wolf, she can carry the heir," he said casually as he looked me in the eye. "I will never do that, not if you take my mate away from me!" I told him sternly, feeling braver than I was. "We've spoken to Eric," Phoenix interjected. We both looked at him, and he continued. "Eric said, she would be safe in this pack if you accepted her. Her scent from her old pack has disappeared because she is a rogue. If she is able to join this pack, her scent will change again to ours. Felix will have no claim to her and, as you know, the law states he is unable to do anything to take her from this pack, as long as we accept her as one of us... Eric even mentioned something about her being best kept hidden." Phoenix finished rapidly, as if trying to get all the information out all at once. "You don't understand, Felix has killed people for less. This would be a battle, a war. If he ever finds out, the pack will not be safe," he replied to Phoenix and looked at me furiously. "Then we make sure he doesn't find out," Phoenix said abruptly. "If he ever comes looking for her, I will hide her. I will take her far away from this pack, only returning when he is gone, miles away. I will do that as often as needed whenever he's here," Phoenix told him. Anger rose in my chest. "What are you doing!" I whisper-shouted at him, but Phoenix ignored me. Father stared at him for a moment, contemplating. "I will hide her too, father. We will both do whatever it takes to keep this pack safe, whatever it takes," I told him. "He is more dangerous than either of you thick-skulls could ever imagine," he huffed, more at Phoenix than me. "She is dangerous, not only that-" "She isn't dangerous," Phoenix interrupted, but was then cut off. "She IS dangerous. She has the most notorious wolf of my generation after her. I've been rid of him once. I don't expect to do it again. You idiots, how could you accept a rogue as your mate without even checking where she is from?" he bellowed. "It happened quickly, father. She must stay here, for the future of this pack. It depends on her. Our pack can not keep surviving without a Luna. There will be internal damage, internal threats from pack members daring to do it better." "ENOUGH!" he bellowed his loudest yet. The room went silent yet again. The father rubbed his face furiously, before starting again. "Let me speak with Eric, I'll give you my decision later," he said calmly. Phoenix wanted to speak with him again, but one stern, cold gaze made us see we had been dismissed. "What the f**k do we do now?" Phoenix asked me as we left the office. "Tell Iris of the plan," I told him, but I was caught off guard as the most rancid and disgusting smell filled my nostrils, and by the look on Phoenix's face, I was right in assuming I knew what it was. He belted to the land behind the pack-house and shifted into his wolf form. I chased after him, and did the same. The rogues had crossed the border land into our territory. Phoenix caught up to the one slacking behind and tackled him to the ground. I mind-linked the patrols who were already on their way. As I caught up with the first two, I tackled one of them to the ground, but he managed to throw me off of him in the collision. I stood back up on all fours, and waited for them to strike. They began circling me, they dove at me at the same time, and as I dodged, the one who flew passed me, the other collided with me, taking me to the ground. I managed to maneuver on top. Out of the corner of my eye I could see the other one preparing to leap at me again, and as he did, Phoenix intercepted him and tackled him away from me. I laughed internally as I pinned the wolf I was currently wrestling with my teeth bare on his throat. Phoenix let out a loud, thunderous growl, and the wolf in front of him bowed down to him, allowing Phoenix to pin him. I was awestruck. I had never seen Phoenix make a wolf cower and surrender before him before. The patrols rushed over to us, and apprehended the rogues, and we took them to the Alpha. As we walked down the corridor to the Alpha office, faint shouting echoed down the hall. We knocked loudly on the door, until we heard silence. "What is it?" the Alpha bellowed through the door, furiously. I pushed the door open and allowed the patrols to enter with the rogues. "We found them on our territory," I said as the patrols shoved them to the floor and left. "Rogues, on my land?" he asked Phoenix and me, incredulously. "Why did you cross the border?" he asked them, looking at each of the three rogues individually. None of them seemed to want to answer him. It was only when his Alpha tone demanded it, that the large one in the middle answered, looking furiously at the Alpha, with an ice-cold glare, to rival my father's. "There is a female rogue here," he started and finished, abruptly. As if that was all the information we needed to hear. "What do you want with her?" my father demanded. "She's a female rogue," he answered, with his brows furrowed, looking at us as if we were stupid for not understanding. "Who sent you?" the Alpha asked him, losing patience. "No one sent us!" he said with a tone of annoyance. "She is a female rogue, we want her for ourselves," he said, in a tone that made my blood boil. An uncontrollable growl escaped Phoenix; it was only me who apparently heard him. "You're here for the female rogue, not because you know her but because you want her?" the Alpha questioned. Eric huffed angrily in the corner, as if this information had upset him, personally. "We are rogues, we could use a breeder, as we have no pack, and no female com-" "Kill them," the Alpha interrupted him. "Hey, no, wait!" the rogues pleaded, but it was too late. Phoenix and I had rushed behind them and snapped their necks, quickly, and painlessly. "Do you see the amount of trouble your mate has brought to my pack?" Father spat Phoenix, the vein in his forehead threatening to burst, as it throbbed violently. "Alpha Terry, please. We need to discuss this further, now that things have changed," Eric pleaded. Phoenix and I were dismissed.
