They were taking so long that I decided to do what they said, and looked around the place.
It was huge, but comfortable and cozy.
As I left their office, to my left there was a kitchen and to my right the hallway to the upstairs and the living room. I explored the kitchen first. There was a high top counter, an island with stools around it. More cupboards than they could fill, by the looks of it. There were several appliances I didn't know what they were used for, but there was a stove, perfect for cooking for many people, as it had six rings. Round the little corner of the kitchen was a cute circular wooden table with several chairs scattered around it, and a door leading to the private patio outside. It was very large, with a rain cover halfway drawn over it. I walked back in, walked through the kitchen, passed the office and into the open archway that acted as the entryway to the living room. The living room was large but cramped with a lot of furniture. There were two large three-seater couches, and three small single-seater couches, all in beautiful beige fabric. There was a large rug on the floor that matched the drapes, also a creamy beige color slightly different to the couches. A massive television was pinned to the wall over the marble fireplace, and several cute little wooden tables placed at each corner of the couches, evidently so that whoever sat down could place their beverages on them.
I was in love, the entire house was so beautiful, but what tied the whole room together was the gorgeous bay window that gave a perfect view of whoever was at the front door.
I sat on the large couch facing the bay window. I could see who was coming in through the front floor on my left, and I could watch T. V to my right.
Just as I snuggled up onto the couch, Phoenix and Chad entered the house, looking livid.
Chad's face brightened as he saw me, but then it washed over with something like dread.
Phoenix's face was as emotionless as before.
"How did it go?" I asked them eagerly, and also a little bit excited.
"They're discussing the plan now. Hopefully they'll be happy to welcome you as a member," Chad told me.
A wave of excitement overcame my senses.
"Is that still what you want? To stay here with us?" Phoenix asked me, and in that casual, emotionless tone.
"As long as everyone is safe and not in danger," I smiled at him, and he and Chad shared a knowing look.
I eyed theem suspiciously.
"I-" I began, but they suddenly began smelling the air and frowning.
By the looks on their faces, I knew something was wrong. Both their eyes danced between black and their normal, beautiful deep blue. They smelled the air in disgust, and then suddenly, stood up so quickly and aggressively, that I thought they were about to attack me, but they were out the door faster than I could say 'what's going on?' and they evidently did not hear me yelling behind them.
I got up and followed them, and a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach overcame me so much that I had to see what they were doing.
They were running through the huge grassy field, towards a mass of trees. I looked around and noticed that the trees surrounded the entire pack lands, and wondered if the trees were the threshold mark between borders, as they had been in my previous pack.
I looked back to find Phoenix and Chad restraining some wolves, as other members of the pack rushed out of the pack-house to aid them.
I squinted to get a better view of what was going on. It looked like they were wrestling each other.
Suddenly, the most dominating smell overcame my senses. I looked to my left to find the most frightening man I had ever seen in my life, just by pure size. He was massive, huge, even. He was so tall it was scary, but he was muscular, with broad shoulders, and he radiated so much aura that I had to look away. I had never seen such an intimidating man. Alpha. He had to be, there was no way he wasn't. He even looked like them, but his eyes weren't as kind. He knew he was scary, and he used that power.
He was looking older. His black beard had fine gray hairs in it. His sideburns were gray, but his jet-black hair lay messy on his head.
One of the members of the pack-house made to run towards me, but he gripped him, and even in the acceleration, the Alpha stayed put and didn't move a muscle as he dragged this wolf back to him.
"Not her, she is not one of them," he growled, but even speaking lowly, his voice thundered, and I'd never want to hear it shouting.
"Alpha, she-" the wolf began, as he looked at me in disgust.
"She is not one of them," he gazed at the wolf, and the wolf bowed to his Alpha.
I tried my best not to let the Alpha glaring at me bother me, but he was terrifying.
Even if he had just protected me.
As I looked back at Phoenix and Chad, the noise of loud thudding neared me, and I turned, only to be tackled to the ground.
I knew instantly what it was.
"You're one of us," he spat as he pinned me to the ground, unable to contain his excitement.
"You need to come with us," he demanded, baring teeth now, threatening me.
I lay in panic for a brief moment. I was so confused as his reaction. I knew it was a rogue, but what did he want with me? And how did he change from being happy to being so angry?
I heard my name shouted multiple times by the twins, and that suddenly snapped me away from my thoughts. I threw my arm back and elbowed the rogue across the face, he slouched down on my legs and I kicked him off of me.
I made my way to get up and was suddenly dragged to my feet by Phoenix and Chad.
"Get in the house, Iris," Chad told me, urging me forward, but again I stood frozen as a million thoughts rushed through my mind.
"Iris, get in the house," Phoenix bellowed, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I blinked at him, and then ran into the house. There was only one possible reason for those rogues to be after me specifically.
Felix. He knew I was here. I have to leave.
I looked back at Chad and Phoenix and watched how Phoenix snapped his neck, and threw his limp body over his shoulder.
Panic over-whemled me. He didn't even hesitate.
I ran upstairs to my room and began packing my things, or the things the twins had let me have. I packed some snacks, and clothes, lots of clothes. I filled some bottles with water and stuffed them in my bag too.
I heard them come in the front door, and they shouted my name. I quickly, with panic, shoved my bag under my bed, and hurriedly opened the door.
"Iris, are you okay?" Phoenix asked me, and for the first time, there was concern laced in his tone.
"Did he hurt you?" Chad asked me, holding my arms and looking me up and down.
"No, no, I'm fine," I told them.
"Are you sure?" Phoenix grabbed my hand. Jolts of electricity waved through my core, and I wanted to collapse into him, but I couldn't. I needed to leave them behind, for their safety. As well as my own. If I stay here, they will all be in danger.
"We need to talk to the Alpha, will you be okay here?" Phoenix asked me, and a small smile fell over his face. A smile I hadn't seen before, but it was beautiful and captivating.
"I'll be fine," I replied, urging them to go, so that I could run without them following after me.
Chad eyed me suspiciously.
"We need to give a full report on the rogues and why they were here, and follow up on our talk about you becoming a pack member," Chad said, and I hesitated before nodding my head at him.
