I drank the last bit of broth from the last soup I had brought from the convenience store. I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand as I watched Blip slurp up his last noodle like it was spaghetti. I chuckled at him but groaned. "Barely enough to hold us over for a day bud. We're going to need to go out into the city to get food tonight." I scruffed Blip's feathers and he looked at me turning his head disapprovingly. "I know it's dangerous but can't starve and we need my magic to keep us safe. I'll be okay. I promise I won't be gone long!" I reassured him as he flipped onto his back wanting me to scratch his belly. Blip acted as if he was a lap dog most days and I was certain it was my fault. I had spoiled and cuddled him since I found him, and he had grown accustomed to it. Blip had grown substantially over the past month. He was now the size of a large rooster. I knew he would keep growing until he towered over me, but I didn't care I love the crazy bird and would keep him as long as he wanted me. I had tried to release him so he could go and find his flock but he refused. I was now his flock and he had become very protective over me, as I was him. I knew Blip could hunt on his own. Hell, the most vicious of creatures were scared of Phoenix, but I couldn't so, I had no choice.

One more run and I would finally enter the forest away from this city. Silva Mortis was the most feared part of the forest. No one dared enter it let alone pass through it which is the very reason I had chosen to do so. There were tales of hell hounds, dybbuks, and demons. Creatures that were too terrifying to speak of. Some said the forest would play with your head and others said it played cruel tricks on you. I didn't know what to believe but I was going in expecting the worse. I was leaving nothing to chance.

Later that Night

I threw my backpack over my shoulder along with my Rifle. My nine-millimeter hung on my hip snapped safely in its holster and my dagger was stuck snuggly away in my boot. It was time to leave the safety of my little room that had become mine and Blip's home. I looked around before stopping by Blips cage to click the lock in place. I didn't need him following me and getting himself hurt or killed trying to protect me. I was well aware he had figured out how to open his cage but it would take him a while and by that time I'd be long gone. I kissed my hand and touched the cage looking at Blip, "I'll see you in a few little guys! Stay safe!" I told him before moving the barricade and exiting the room.

I shivered as the cold air hit me once I had fled the house. I turned and locked the door before heading for the shadows. The moon was almost at full capacity so it lit most of the alleyways which would make it harder for me to hide. Luckily I was dressed in all black which would assist in helping me blend in. I sniffled myself satisfied that the descent had done its job. I would need to try and find another can while I was out.

Flashes of the attack by the Lycan flew threw my mind like a picture shown on fast forward. I took a deep breath and took my first step hearing the gravel crunch beneath my boots. I knew a lot of night species would be out hunting. It was almost a full moon after all and they'd feel the pull of it. Especially the Lycans who turned into their beat when a full moon appeared in the sky. Tomorrow was sure to be one of slaughter and suffering for a lot of innocent beings.

Before I knew it I had made it to the large grocery store. I drew my gun and held it over my hand that held my flashlight to stead my shaking hand. I stepped lightly in a crouched position as I made my way down the aisles. I stopped occasionally to throw an item in my backpack before continuing. I had gotten lucky on this trip. I had found lots of Jon perishable foods. This grocery store appeared to have not been wiped clean yet. Most likely because it sat so close to the forest. I found Blip some cans of tuna and chicken, as well as myself. We needed the protein. I also found a small canned ham and spaghettios. I picked up batteries of every size and even a few word search puzzles and coloring books. I decided to spoil myself and grabbed one liter of soda as well as my coffee ingredients. I chose a few sweets and some more canned items before picking up the familiar ramen noodle that had started making me gag I had eaten it so much.

On my way out I picked up two cans of descent and some feminine pads. I didn't know how much longer I would be able to put off the shedding and I was unable to find witches hazel or wolves bane at the store. I grabbed a new blanket, some underwear, sports bras, and hygiene items before my bag was heavy and packed to the brim. Luckily the store sold backpacks so I was able to grab a couple and fill those two with nothing but food items. I didn't intend on leaving the forest for quite a while and hoped I could learn to hunt and plant a garden which is why I grabbed a skinning knife kit and various packs of seeds for gardening.

After finishing my shopping mission I made my way out of the store. I walked quietly and surveyed my surroundings as I neared the back of the store. I froze when I heard the front door singing signaling that someone had entered the store. I hurriedly sprayed myself with descent for good measure and his in the supply closet. I cracked the door slightly so I could see if I was going I was going to be attacked. I heard voices and scuffling coming closer. A woman's cry made my ears perk up and my heart began to race. I tried my best to calm it terrified the intruders would hear.

The woman cried out as I watched her be thrown across the hard floor. Her back smacked the concrete and ai winded feeling her pain. She scrambled to her knees and began to beg her captors. I was unable to see them as they were right out of reach of my vision. "Please let me go! Take what you want. I won't fight you, just please don't kill me. I have children who need me!" She cried as she fisted her torn dress in her hands. I could tell from her scent that she was a witch.

Witches were just as Far, there was some good and some evil. Though they were han than we were and their magic was from spells handed down by generations from their ancestors. Some could see the future or the past depending on their ability but as far as anything else that's all I knew of their species from my school books. A man walked into my line of sight. He was tall and nothing but a wall of muscle. Not an ounce of fat was on his body. His skin looked as if it was made of porcelain and his eyes flowed in the darkness emitting a faint red light from them. He was a vampire and a powerful one at that. I knew I stood no chance against him by myself if he were to catch me.

The vampire knelt beside the woman took her chin in his hands roughly and forced her to look into his eyes. "Now why would I kill you when I can keep you for as long as I wish and do whatever ai wish to your supple body." He purred his voice alluring. I had to shake my head removing myself from his trance. Vampires held power in not only their eyes but their voices and their looks. Their features were made to use as weapons in their favor. They could bring a room full of women and men to their knees pleading to feel their touch just once or have them feed on them.

The woman whimpered and the tears left clean streaks on her dirty cheeks. "You will obey me!" The vampire's voice sounded almost like a melody he compelled the woman. "I will obey you." Her voice sounded robotic and forced. "You will call me master!" He commanded her as the other two laughed. "I will call you master." She repeated. He smiled eerily at her before releasing her chin and standing up. She blinked and took in her surroundings as if she had forgotten where she was. That's when our eyes locked. She looked at me and fear filled me. I was afraid they would see her looking at me and discover my hiding spot. "Now! You were caught raiding one of the stores we now own.

The vampire stepped in front of her breaking our eye contact. He held up a dagger in front of him. I heard her gasp as I turned it in his hands the silver catching the moonlight and casting lights across the store. Before I could blink his hand came down. I just knew the woman was dead, but when he backed away I could see he had cut her dress from her body. She sat on the floor in only a pair of thin white panties. The men grew wide-eyed as they looked at the cracks forming in the concrete directly beneath them. Red lights grew from the cracks as they opened up. I slammed my first down on the floor and cracks began to deteriorate and fall inside the men falling with them hanging on to the edge begging for help. Once again everything shook like an earthquake causing the two to plummet to their death. I threw the vampire's body inside and looked over the edge. I could see no bottom. Steam and smoke rose from the holes.

It wasn't long before the gaps in the floor began to close and seal themselves. Once finished it was as if nothing had ever happened. I couldn't believe what I had just done. It excited me but also scared the hell out of me. I couldn't keep allowing my dark side to rise above my good.

It wasn't long before the witch began to awaken. She shot up screaming her eyes looking wild. "Shh... It's okay your safe, but you need to get out of here and get home." I rubbed her back comforting and calming her. She looked around and noticed the men gone. "How?" She asked as tears flowed down her face and mine. I held up my hand to stop her question, "All that matters is we're alive. Here are some clothes I found around the store. Put them on and get back to your family." I handed her a sundress and cloth slip-on shoes, along with a hoodie. It wasn't much but it was black and would keep her concealed in the shadows. "Here is a bag of food I packed for you while you were out. No doubt that's why you were out here." I gave her a backpack I had stocked with non-perishable items and she reluctantly took them. She dressed and slung the backpack over her shoulder. Before she left she turned to me, "I don't know how you have done it but Thank you so much. My partner was killed some time ago in the war and I'm the only one left to care for our twins. If you ever need anything you can find me through this person. She always knows where I am." She whispered and handed me a card before walking out the door. I smiled at her and waved before as I watched the moon reflect off of her long raven hair. Soon I made my way home myself. I was already so sick of the evil things I had seen in Alkai City. When would all of this end??
