Not his Nanny

Sarah looked so pale, and her lips were slightly blue. She was so frail and weak and at that moment he regretted agreeing to it. Regretting his choices, but understanding his own helplessness and faults. Agreeing to let her live a separate life from his was the best outcome already. He didn’t have the power to protect her then. He could only sit next to her hospital bed, lost in thought all the while holding her hand with a dull expression until, eventually, he fell asleep. Maxwell was stunned for a bit before Damien pulled him and began to walk out. Stephine stood there looking at Maxwell’s back and shook her head. ‘He’s gonna realize he never loved that one, and he’s going to pry his way back into her life,’ Stephine thought bitterly as she followed their retreating figures. ‘However, with that demon by her side he can’t.’ “Where her doctor? I need to consult,” Stephine asked the men at the door who stood guard. Angela walked slowly behind Maxwell and Damien, she loathed that b***h Sarah even more. They were in the middle of some heated s*x when the housekeeper informed them Sarah was in the hospital. How could she not have some resentment towards Sarah? The way everyone just falls at her feet to make her happy. Even Maxwell’s best friend is here for Sarah. She couldn’t understand why they flocked to her so much. That is a handsome man too. Why do these handsome men just fall at her feet? Angela knew she wasn’t any different from Sarah. She thought she was even better than Sarah. Little did she know Damien was actually pulled in a long time ago to keep watch over Sarah, which he failed to do and the consequences would be absolutely dire. Damien made sure Maxwell and Angela got in the car before he made his own way home. Just thinking about the person he loved at home, he realized what he had done. He forgot it was his anniversary. Checking the time, it was already close to one am, meaning he missed it. The guilt was already eating him up inside. Aside from dealing with Maxwell’s f**k-ups, he was still fighting his own battles and demons. After driving to his apartment building, he sat there in silence before proceeding to face his love. Damien tiredly opened the door to his flat and shrugged off his coat and hung it up on the coat hanging. He kicked off his shoes to the side and wobbled his way to the living area where the TV was running. A documentary about wildlife in Africa was to playing. The monologue made him pause and stare at the screen before his eyes landed on the figure sitting there. It was obvious this lonely figure sitting there was waiting for him. Damien’s eyes landed on the half empty bottle of Jack Daniels’ on the coffee table. Damien felt like something was stuff in his throat. He opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. The words he wanted to say, the apologies he wanted to mutter all didn’t come out. Instead he just looked like a fish, opening and closing his mouth in a somewhat foolish manner. Their eyes clashed, Damien swallowed guiltily. All his actions were taken by Dwayne. To say he was bitterly disappointed wasn’t a lie. But unbeknownst to Damien, Dwayne actually knew all about his matter with Samuel Castello. In fact, Dwayne was swimming in deeper s**t than he was. Regarding the reasons why Samuel approached Damien, Dwayne was ninety percent sure it was because of his involvement with himself. “It’s two am, Damien” Dwayne muttered lowly to his boyfriend as he stood bare-chested, his tone was cold and flat making Damien flinch as if he were slapped. “Dwayne, listen, I’m tired, and I just want to sleep,” Damien lowered his eyes in guilt and walked away. Dwayne wasn’t having it though, he rushed up and pulling Damien’s arm to stop him. “You!” Damien burst out in anger, getting ready to scold his boyfriend, but once he actually got a good look at Dwayne in the dim light, he choked. He couldn’t even feel Dwayne’s tight grip any more, he could only see Dwayne’s messed up hair, it would seem he ran his hand through those blonde locks over and over. Aside from his messed-up hair, Dwayne's eyes were dull and dark circles around his eyes told Damien that Dwayne probably didn’t sleep for a couple of nights. Thinking about his late nights and early morning just to avoid Dwayne, Damien’s heart trembled for the second time tonight. He was stifled by his own guilt. “What is it, Damien, why are you doing this to me? To us?” Dwayne’s grip tightened unconsciously on Damien’s arm, to which he only shifted uncomfortably as he looked down, not daring to meet Dwayne’s gaze. “What are you talking about?” Damien pretended to not know what he meant with a frown on his face trying to avoid the topic. Dwayne let out a sarcastic smile at this. “You’re ignoring me for months you asshole! You think I didn’t notice?” Dwayne’s eyes scanned Damien’s lowered face. He could tell Damien was feeling guilty. “I’m not ignoring you,” Damien weakly lied, and Dwayne’s eyes were filled with disappointment as he flung Damien’s arm he was holding away from him in rage. “If you can’t be honest with me, who are you going to be honest with hmm?” Dwayne sneered at him, “Yesterday was our anniversary, and you skipped out on me again!” “I didn’t okay, I had to clean up the mess Maxwell made,” Damien used Maxwell as an excuse, but Dwayne saw right through him. “Always with Maxwell Collins, you aren’t his f*****g nanny or are you using him as an excuse?” Dwayne scoffed at his weak attempt to divert his attention. “Of course not, he gave Sarah divorce papers, and she tried to kill herself,” Damien straightened and looked Dwayne in his eyes. “I am the head of your security, Damien, this doesn’t change the fact you are being a f*****g p***y. I’m not talking about tonight, I’m talking about all the months of the cold shoulder.” Dwayne snapped, tired of Damien’s stupid blame game. “I don’t have to explain myself to you, you’re nothing but a bodyguard!′ the words flew out in anger but also panic to hide the truth. The undisguised hurt on Dwayne’s face and well-up tears made Damien realize what he had just said. Regret fills him to the brim when he says this. “Just a bodyguard,” Dwayne mumbled with a sarcastic smile on his face, “Well, I’m no longer your bodyguard nor am I your f*****g buddy!” Dwayne stomped to the bedroom they shared to gather some of his things. Damien raised his head to the ceiling in pain as he heard the muffled sounds of bags unzipping and things falling around in the bedroom. It didn’t take long for Dwayne to come back fully dressed with a duffle bag and walk past Damien, who just stood there watching him. Dwayne dropped the bag at the door and turned to look at Damien with teary yet angry eyes. “It surprises me so much, gays fought so hard for rights, yet you are still struggling to please your parents,” Dwayne too slow steps towards Damien whose eyes flashed. “I don’t know what you are talking about.” Damien denied any accusation which only made him look guilty. “Liar!” Dwayne snapped, “You think this is a joke. You think I was just fooling around with you? No you stupid son of a b***h, I f*****g love you so much it hurts, yet you can’t even stand up to your parents because you’re the only son?” “You have no idea what you’re talking about Dwayne, get the f**k out of my flat!” Damien’s eyes reddened with rage as he snapped back. “No, I will not leave until you admit it.” Dwayne stopped right in front of Damien and looked down at him, since he was a foot taller than him. “Leave Dwayne, I mean it,” Damien used his index finger to point at the door in dissolution. “Ha, Damien, are you still confused about your sexuality? Or would you rather you marry a girl to make babies and hurt her after you suddenly find out you’re gay?” Dwayne mocked and Damien tried to shove him away, but Dwayne only used this to his advantage and pulled him into his arms. “Get the f**k out Dwayne,” Damien tried to struggle out of his hold, but how could he be a match for a professional bodyguard? “Or did you think you could marry a woman and have me as your mistress?” Damien stiffened completely and Dwayne laughed humourlessly. “That’s what you think, you f*****g i***t. ” Damien struggled harder. “I would never treat you because I have enough on my plate and being threatened by my parents is one thing.” Damien really didn’t mean to blurt it out, but when he did Dwayne eyes darkened, “What did you just say? Your parents?” Dwayne was shocked and hugged Damien tighter. “Dwayne will leave right now,” Damien stopped struggling and stood still in Dwayne’s arms. He was conflicted. Most of the things Dwayne said were true. He was being pressured by his parents to stop his relationship with Dwayne. His parents even went as far as drugging him and having a woman have her way with him, so, technically, he cheated on Dwayne and for months he couldn’t look him straight in the eyes. “Be honest with me Damien, what is really the matter?” Dwayne paused as he felt Damien tremble. “I want the truth.”
