Chapter Six

1170 Words
After I was done with my x-ray and got confirmation nothing was broken, just badly sprained, Dr. Blackwood gave me permission to shower. Genny helped me into a shower chair in the bathroom and started washing my hair for me. I was very hesitant to let her see me naked but she assured me that she wouldn’t ask any questions and would do her best not to look. Once I was finally free of the dirt and blood I felt much better. Genny brushed my hair for me and put it in a French braid then helped me to dress. I was just sitting back in bed when there was a commotion outside the door and it burst open. I nearly jumped from the bed at the sound and covered my head expecting something to be thrown at me, as it’s happened before. Instead I see a very flustered Agnes coming in with a tray. Glancing back over her shoulder as she yells at someone. “I refuse to let her eat the swill you call food, Theresa! Hospital food?! Not for my girl!” She barks as she stomps over to me giving me a big smile. “How are you feeling my girl? You sure gave us a fright!” She said as she set the tray on the table beside me and smoothed back my hair. A woman stands at the door wearing a chef jacket and a very angry expression on her face is about to say something further to Agnes but I can hear Alpha Gabriel say something quietly to her and she turns and storms off. Returning my attention to Agnes I smile up at her and apologize. The last thing I wanted to do was upset or scare anyone. She leaned down and gave me a hug then produced the food she had brought for me. Spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread! My favourite. She stayed there with me for a bit, making sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed before leaving. Genny soon left after her. Finally able to relax I laid back and soon sleep took over. Alpha Gabriel’s P.O.V I was sitting outside Lilliana’s door making sure to keep guard personally so no more harm would come to her. I heard her say something but listening closely she seemed distressed. I quickly went into the room to see her in bed, drenched in sweat with her poor beautiful face grimacing as she thrashed around the bed. I ran to her and gently pushed her damp hair from her face and squeezed one of her hands. “Lily, shh, it’s okay! You’re safe here. You’re safe!” I soothed to her sleeping body. Her eyes flew open and she looked around the room desperately. When she saw my face she pulled me by the arm and wrapped her arms around my neck and began sobbing. I held her in return, being extra careful not to hurt her back. “Shhh, it’s okay, it’s okay.” I kept repeating to her in a quiet voice. After a few minutes she was back to sleep. Looking at her now peaceful face I couldn’t help but admire her. My beautiful mate was strong. Stronger than she may think she is. I stayed with her for the rest of the night, holding her hand and occasionally stroking her hair. Lilliana’s P.O.V Last night I knew I had a nightmare. I woke up to Alpha Gabriel trying to soothe me. I couldn’t help but cry, I’ve never had anyone do that for me. I’ve been kicked awake or had my hair grabbed and been ripped from my bed and been yelled at for waking others but not my Alpha. He was kind and caring. I looked to the side and was surprised to see Alpha Gabriel still in my room, he was in a chair next to my bed. Almost the same place he was last night when I woke from the same nightmare as always. I couldn’t help but smile. He had his arms crossed across his chest and his head back. It didn’t look very comfortable at all. “You should smile more often,” he said in a husky voice with a lethal smile on his mouth. I snapped my head away in embarrassment. My cheeks heating immediately. “Thank you for last night.” I said quietly. “It was very kind of you to stay with me.” Sitting up straight he took my hand causing me to look at him. “Lily, I already told you. You are my mate. I would do absolutely anything for you. I know you’re hesitant right now but at least think about it. Just give me a chance.” I couldn’t say anything back. I didn’t want to give him a chance. I knew I wasn’t worthy but I couldn’t tell him that, not when he was looking at me the way he was. He slowly got from his chair and told me he had to go. He had to deal with the issue of a rogue getting through pack borders as well as some other work he needs to catch up on but that he would be back later when Dr. Blackwood released me. It was around 3pm when Dr. Blackwood finally let me go. He said the wound on my back was doing well and he put a special kind of ointment on it that increases the healing time. My foot on the other hand was still rather sore and he said it will be about a week before it fully heals. Alpha Gabriel, true to his word, showed up as I was being put in the wheelchair to be brought out. I felt ridiculous because I was more than capable of walking even if it was with crutches but it’s ‘hospital policy’. Alpha Gabriel had brought his car to the hospital and drove me back to my cottage so I didn’t have to over work my foot. Once outside my little cottage he came to my door and opened it for me and before I could get out he scooped me up in his arms. “Alpha Gabriel! I can walk, please put me down!” He looked down at my bright red face and chuckles. “Not today.” Then quickly gives me a kiss on the cheek. I flushed even more and covered my face with my hands. As much as I loved the feeling it was still so strange to me. He settled me in the cottage and then leaves with a guard stationed outside the cottage and a new cellphone with his, Genny and Agnes’ numbers in it with instructions to call any of them at any time if I need anything. There was a lot of emphasis on anything. I couldn’t help but laugh. Having people worry about me for a change was wonderful but it was amusing just how much he cared.
