POV: IZZY
It’s been three weeks now since I settled in the town of Glenwood, life has been running smoothly, I went back to the restaurant and I got the job as the assistant chef, thanks to the time I spent cooking in the pack, I had learnt a lot of dishes from across the world and my skills were unquestionable at the silver spoon restaurant.
Seems like all the endurance paid off after all.
Everyone is good and we get along perfectly, Emerson pops in once a while to help whenever she can, mostly because she didn’t trust me not to burn the place down. Also, because she liked the free fries.
But today, Emerson showed up with a look that said I have news and you’re not going to like it.
“Izzy… my dad called me about you.” I froze mid napkin fold. “Tell me you’re joking.” “Nope. He’s worried. Your dad too. And your mother. And the pack. And the cats in the pack apparently one specific cat has been sitting on your porch like it’s holding vigil.”
I groaned. “I ran away, Emerson. Running away loses its dramatic effect when people keep calling to check if you’ve eaten.”
“Yeah, well, they’re concerned. And also, your mom thinks you’re now a rogue.”
I blinked. “A rogue?” was she even serious right now!
“You didn’t even say proper goodbye you just left a letter. That’s rogue behaviour.”
I sighed. “I’m not in a rogue. I’m just… avoiding my problems.”
“Same thing, honestly.” Emerson replied
“at least I don’t get to see the look of hatred in my mom’s eyes” “seems like a win-win situation to me” “And I haven’t heard any search order from the alpha so, they must be happy that I’m gone” I said forcing a smile.
“Search order?” “ Are you forgetting that you left them a letter” Emerson reminded me.
I had totally forgotten about the letter. But…if Emmy came with me then when and how did she deliver that letter. She was supposed to deliver it when I’ve left. I totally forgot to ask
“Emmy!!” i called
“mmhhmm” her mouth was stuffed with fries
“To whom did you give that letter and when, because you came here with me?”
“Oh, about that, I gave it to my father, I’m sure he delivered it” she replied then sipped on her drink.
I have been down the rest of the day after the new. The time I had been here I had almost forgotten about the past for a moment. Emerson noticed and suggested we blow off some steam, we headed to The Howling Moon Bar, which was exactly as subtle as its name suggested. The neon sign flickered like it was trying to warn us.
Inside, the place smelled like beer, pine, and something I couldn’t quite place like wet dog but… sexy? What was I expecting? We’re werewolves after all.
Emerson ordered shots. I ordered fries. Balance.
We were halfway through our drinks when Emerson elbowed me so hard, I nearly inhaled a fry.
“Don’t look now,” Emerson whispered, “Mr. Tall-Dark-and-‘I-Can-Sniff-Your-Soul’ is here.”
I looked immediately. I couldn’t help it; I couldn’t control it.
There he was. The man from the restaurant. The one who’d stared at me like I was a puzzle he desperately wanted to solve — or eat. Hard to tell with werewolves.
He leaned against the bar, all brooding and mysterious, like he practiced in the mirror. His eyes found mine instantly, like he’d scented me from the moment I walked in.
I muttered, “Oh great. The growly one.”
Emerson grinned. “He’s looking at you.” She squealed
“No, he’s……” He was intently looking at me.
He walked past our table, gaze locked on me. And he entered the VIP section.
That’s when I realised he wasn’t an average werewolf.
The way he looked at me made me feel hot, I was literally sweating and Emmy’s jesting was making it worse. I’m glad he’s gone, at least I can enjoy the night without any deadly stares.
Maybe I spoke too soon.
“Excuse me ma’am” I heard I voice coming from behind us.
I looked at Emmy who was also looking at me, and we both looked at the man who looked like a body guard, or anything along those lines.
“you’ve been asked to come to the VIP section”
VIP what? And who was asking me to go there, as far as I’m concerned we didn’t know anyone here.
“I’m sorry who is asking for me” I asked the guy looking at him. He looked like was about to slap me at any moment, but that didn’t mean I was going to chicken out and follow him blindly.
“I’ve instructed not to say anything” he responded
“Okay then, tell whoever sent you to f**k off” I said and we turned away from him. He stood there for felt like seconds and then walked away
“Seriously!! Who does that?” I complained
“Wait….. what if it’s the mysterious guy?” Emmy said her eyes wide as if shocked by something
Much as it was possible I didn’t want to think about it and so what if he was the one.
“I honestly don’t care, he can go fu…..”
I didn’t even finish what I was saying. Someone was dragging me out of my chair along with Emerson. My feet were in the air, I kicked and tried to fight but it was in vain.
“You better put us down you ugly wolf” Emerson was cursing but the next second a hand covered her mouth to stop her from jabbering.
All the other people in the bar were looking at us as we were dragged from to the VIP section and no one dared to say a word. We were taken into a luxurious room with red lights, it was less noisy and less crowded compared to the ordinary section
I was put down on my feet and shoved away the man’s hand that was still holding mine. I looked at him like I was about to snap his neck
“You were to convince her to come, not to drag her” “do you have a death wish?” a voice said so cold with too much aura, but I couldn’t see the person’s face clearly in the red lights
“I’m sorry sir” the man who had me from my seat earlier responded
“You don’t touch what is mine” he growled this time
Wait a minute, mine???
“Mine!!!” I shouted in unison with Emmy.
She looked confused just as I was. What was this man talking about? And who says he can own me. Like a property??
“I didn’t know sir, I’m sorry” his voice was trembling this time
“Out of my sight before I break your filthy hands” he commanded; his voice was like sounded like a wild waterfall.
The man quickly left the room leaving me standing with Emerson and another guy who brought her in.
“Take her to the next room, treat her with anything she pleases” he said meaning Emerson. “And you little miss…” he paused “ you’re staying here with me” he added
Hell no!! in a red room? With a stranger? No no not happening.
I turned towards the door but I was stopped just in time. The man took away Emerson leaving me in the room with this man.
Can this night end already?
How far worse can it get?
I was screaming in my head. I wanted to escape but I knew the room is looked by now.
“come forward”
Me forward? He was kidding right!! What if he’s a vampire. No that would be stupid, they were long chased from our realm. Whatever it was, I just know I’m not going to him.
“no” I said trying to be brave but I was shaking to the core.
“don’t make me do it myself” he responded, his voice could break my bones. At this time I was panicking, I don’t know how my legs carried me to where he was but they did.
“You,” he said, voice low and rough like gravel dipped in honey. “We meet again.” He pulled me to sit on his lap, I tried to resist but part of me was freely letting him like I was under some kind of spell
I blinked. “Meet again?” I looked closely and then I remembered those blue eyes, the man from earlier, the man from the restaurant. It was him
He leaned in slightly. “You smell… different tonight.”
I choked on air. “I…..excuse me?”
My wolf whispered, “Werewolf compliment. Just roll with it.”
He leaned in, closer this time, his warm breathe could be felt on my neck. The hairs on my neck stood, he was doing something to me. I closed my eyes tightly this felt so wrong and right at the same time.
What’s happening? Why can’t I resist his touch? Why am I craving for more?
