Chapter One: Lillyanna
I held my cousin and tried to stay quiet, just like mama asked me to. I was so scared, I hear the screams, I hate them. I want my Mama or my daddy with me. Before hiding I watched auntie May get killed, she was trying to keep my two cousins Rebecca and Alex safe. Rebecca was eight, and Alex was my age, five. I don't understand what happened. We were supposed to have an alliance with the vampire kingdom. So what happened?
We have an alliance with them, and the werewolf kingdom, why wasn't the Alpha king here? why wasn't he helping? do they have an alliance with the vampires too? They won't help the vampires will they? My five year old mind was all over the place, and I was so filled with worry. will they kill everyone? will my parents make it? They've always trusted the vampires and even seen them as friends. Will there ever be a time when we once again have an alliance with the vampires or will we forever be at war? I shake as my thoughts become filled with so many questions about the future. Will there even be a future for us witches or will we all die? I am so scared I want mommy and daddy, but I don't even know where they are or if they will ever come back. I don't want anyone to die!
Uncle Tillford (the witch king) and Auntie Elanor (the witch queen) had called mama and daddy, along with Auntie May, and others who were in the royal guard or just great at combat or healing. Mama and daddy were very close to the royal family, and I called them Auntie and Uncle as well. My parents would always scold me for doing such things, but they always said they never minded.
Rebecca stiffens as we hide, Alex had his face in his hands trying to stop crying. And me? I was horrified and unable to stop my tears. We hear someone near us, quiet but there. I wanted to go check, maybe it's mama or daddy. Rebecca holds me back, shaking her head. The footsteps stop near us, and we hear them speak. "Anyone else?" he had a deep voice that scared me. "No, we have some prisoners, but all the warriors and healers that fought are dead. Couldn't take any chances with anyone." Another male voice comes, this time in a harsh whisper.
We hear them walk away, and we let out a breath. That was a mistake, Vampires have good hearing like wolfs do. I know because daddy was a wolf and told me all about it, and how when my witch powers come in so will my wolf. Mama was a witch, they were mates, daddy says that when I turn eighteen I will find my mate. Anyway, the vampires turn back around, and this time we are all found. We tried to fight, we did, but they were faster and stronger. They bit us and knocked us all out.
I wake to a burning in my throat and all over my body. It hurts so so bad. How long was I out? what happened? wheres my mommy and daddy? is the war over? what happened the vampires who bit me and the others? Wheres Rebecca and Alex? did they make it? I don't understand what is happening to me or what I am feeling. Am I dead? I open my eyes and close them right back when a light to bright hits me. I blink and try again when I hear noises and people talking around me. Vampires! I can smell them! No! I don't want to die or be food for them! What will they do to me? Can I, a five year old make it out alive?
Its to late they already know I'm awake, I hope Rebecca and Alex and everyone else is ok. I don't think I could take it knowing that anyone is dead, especially my family and friends. After about twenty minutes someone starts talking to me, I hear what they tell me but I don't want to accept it. I don't want to be a vampire! I want my mommy and daddy! but than they tell me that both my mommy and daddy died and I couldn't take it. I tried to get up, the room spins, I don't care I will get out of here! I need to find Rebecca and Alex! I want to get out.
I don't want to be the only survivor, I can't be the only one! The people in the room hold me and I try to get free but their stronger and I hate it. I scream and cry wanting to get free. Some one stabbed me with a needle and I try to fight it, but I am only five and not strong at all, I was to weak! I feel my eyes start to close and I try to stay awake, I don't want to die, please goddess don't let me die! I feel someone lift me and place me back on the bed. I hear talking but can't make it out. What were they saying? Are they going to kill me? is this it for me? I close my eyes but try to stay awake. nothing works I slowly lose consciousness.
When I wake I shoot up ready to get away but find my wrists are bound. I whimper, I didn't like this, I hate it. Just as I was about to scream someone walks in and I look up. The vampire stops and sighs before she slowly walks over and speaks, "Do not be afraid child...I won't hurt you" I don't answer. I don't belive her. "I am the vampire queen, Lady Elezabeth. I am here to answer questions for you. I understand you do not trust us at the moment but I promise the war was the last thing we wanted to happen. Our hands were forced after we were nearly killed by a witch who claimed to be sent from your kingdom to assassinate me and my husband the king, Lord Ethal."
