Chapter 3

Lena's Pov “Ugh…” I groaned in pain, when I woke up, the dungeon was silent. My back burned with the pain of the whip and lashes, and my wrists ached where the chains had dug into my skin. I tried to shift to ease the pain a little but the pain made me whimper. The guards returned in the morning, dragging me out roughly. “Where are you taking me to?” I questioned, looking around in a panic. Hadn't they had enough of torturing me? Haven't they?! My legs barely touched the ground as they roughly hauled me to the pack’s council chamber, and then they threw me roughly to the ground. My heart pounded in my chest as I realized where I was being taken. This was a place meant to trial criminals and dictate their sentences. Why was I here? What was I doing here?? The room was packed with pack members. Their faces were a mix of disgust and curiosity as they whispered to one another. I scanned the room, my gaze landing on Celeste. She was seated beside the Alpha and Liam, her face cold and unreadable. When her eyes met mine, they were filled with something I couldn’t quite place, disgust. My breath caught. Why? The council members stared down at me as I was shoved into the center of the room. The Alpha stood, his imposing and tall figure casting a shadow over me, “Lena.” He began, his voice booming, “You have been accused of attempting to seduce my son, the future Alpha, despite being nothing more than an omega. Do you deny these accusations?” I shook my head weakly, “I… I didn’t seduce him. He’s my mate. I… I felt the bond when he entered the hall that night. I… I'm not lying. Please believe me.” The room erupted in laughter. “Enough!” The Alpha bellowed loudly, silencing their laughter. He glared at me, his eyes blazing, “You dare to lie in front of the council?” “I’m not lying.” I whispered, my voice trembling, “The bond is real.” Liam stepped forward, his expression filled with contempt, “You call this ‘real,’ Lena? Your delusions are an insult to the Moon Goddess herself. I would never, ever choose someone like you.” Each word was like a dagger to my heart. “Perhaps.” Liam added with a sneer, “It’s high time that someone reminded you of your place.” Before I could react, he snatched a whip from one of the guards hands. “No, please…” I begged, backing away, realising just what he wanted to do. But there was no mercy in his eyes as he raised the whip and brought it down across my back. I screamed as pain shot through my entire body, the humiliation of being whipped in front of the entire pack was somehow worse than the physical pain. “Stop.” I whimpered, tears streaming down my face once again, “Please…” When it was over, I fell to the floor, my whole body trembling violently. Liam tossed the whip aside, looking at me with disdain. I couldn't believe it. The one person who treated me right actually hated me this much? My eyes had started getting blurry from all the tears and blood loss, I could barely see anything. However, the Alpha turned to the council, “This behavior cannot go unpunished. She is a disgrace to this pack and a danger to its harmony.” “She should be exiled!” One council member called out. “No.” The Alpha said, his tone final, “Exile is too lenient. She will go to Darmos College, where she will live among the strongest and most unruly of our kind. If she survives, she will return obedient. If not…” He trailed off, leaving the unspoken words hanging in the air. My heart sank because Darmos College was infamous, a place for rebellious and dangerous werewolves. It wasn’t a punishment, it was like a death sentence for an omega like me. “No, please!” I cried, struggling to stand, “I’ll do anything. Just don’t send me there!” “Enough.” The Alpha snapped, “Take her away.” I was dragged out of the chamber as the pack members laughed and mocked me. My vision blurred with tears as I was thrown into a car, my belongings shoved in beside me. They had already packed them up which meant the Alpha had been thinking about this punishment for a long while. The ride to Darmos College was silent, the weight of what awaited me pressing down like a storm cloud. When the car stopped, the driver opened the door and dumped my bags on the ground. “Good luck.” He muttered, not bothering to hide his smirk. I shook my head, not willing to get out of the car, I couldn't come out. If I did, I was going to die. However, the man didn't want to waste anymore time so he came out from the driver's seat and directly dragged me out of the car, throwing my bags roughly on the ground. “No… No, please.” I begged weakly, but he didn't care. No one cared, I had to learn to live with it. I turned around, my eyes widening as I took in the massive campus. I swallowed hard and clutched my bag, making my way to the administration building. The woman at the desk barely glanced at me as she handed me a key. “Room 302. Last one available.” She said curtly. I hesitated, “Is it… a coed room?” “Yes. Is there a problem? You are not satisfied with it?” She asked, her eyes filled with disdain. I shook my head quickly, “No, I'm satisfied.” I couldn’t afford to refuse, not after everything. Dragging my bag, I found my way to the dorm building and climbed the stairs to the third floor. My heart raced as I stood in front of the door to Room 302. “You can do this, Lena.” I told myself. Taking a deep breath, I opened the door and promptly froze. Inside, one of my roommates, a tall, muscular guy with tousled dark hair and a handsome face, was pressed against the wall, his lips locked with a girl who was practically draped over him. The guy turned his head slightly, his sharp, icy-blue eyes meeting mine. He didn’t look embarrassed or surprised, just mildly annoyed. “Who the hell are you?” He asked, his voice low and commanding. “I… I’m your new roommate.” I stammered, clutching my bag tightly. The girl giggled, brushing her hair back, but I could also see a tiny bit of anger in her eyes, “Guess we’ve got a little mouse living with you now.”
