CALL FOR HELP
Carlos waved goodbye to a few of his guests who had to leave early. He wondered how Blanca was feeling, and realised it had been an hour since he had laid her down on his bed. Isabela had disappeared, too, while he had been mingling with the guests. He began to worry, as Isabela wouldn’t have left without telling him.
He rushed into the kitchen and poured a glass of water for Blanca. As he walked up the stairs, he worried she hadn’t come out of the room yet. He found his bedroom door locked. Why would Blanca lock the door?
He had no way of opening the door from this side, so she would have to open it. But before he called her name, he heard whimpering and the squeaking of the mattress. “No, get away from me. No, please. Please.”
