CHAPTER 6 ELLE. P.O.V I couldn't believe that the jerk I met at the club was my children's father - the Greek God. No wonder they took after him, but how could they make such a huge mistake? "I don't want to share my children," I thought to myself. Lucas, the Greek God, asked unexpectedly, "What are their names?" "Maya and Dorcas," I replied. "They're one year old." He nodded, taking in the information. "And their surnames?" he asked. I glared at him. "What do you think? I gave them my surname." He frowned. "Change their surnames." I stood firm. "I won't do that." Lucas's expression turned stern. "What do you mean you won't do this, Elle? They are my children too!" I refused to back down. "They're mine, mine only." Lucas's voice rose in frustration. "Why are you making this issue so complicated, Elle?" I shot back, "I don't need your help, Lucas." Lucas's anger boiled over. "What the hell is wrong with you, Elle?" Dante intervened, "Enough, both of you! We're here to solve the problem, not fight." Jessica whispered in my ear, "Your children took after their father." I whispered back, "I know, Jess." Dante asked, "Okay, what proof do you have, Lucas?" Lucas's expression turned incredulous. "Proof of what?" I clarified, "Proof that they're your children." Lucas's anger erupted. "What!! You know what? Enough is enough. Dante, this meeting is over. Elle, you'll hear from my lawyer." I thought to myself, "What have I done? He's powerful in this city, a billionaire... Calm down, Elle. If not, he'll take away my children." Jessica snapped me back to reality. "Elle, what are you thinking about?" I replied, "Um... Mr. Lucas, it hasn't come to that." Jessica tried to mediate. "Lucas, please calm down." Lucas's expression remained stern. "Why should I calm down? She wants proof. I'll prove it to her in court." Jessica urged, "Do something, Elle." I apologized, "Um... I'm sorry. I overreacted." Lucas's expression softened slightly. "You'd better be. I only want to be in their lives, nothing else." He continued, "My lawyer will bring you some papers to sign, and then their surname will be changed to mine." I reluctantly agreed, "Yes, I'm okay with that." Lucas asked, "So, when can I meet them?" I replied, "I don't know. It depends on you." Lucas nodded. "Okay, I'll travel to Canada to visit my parents. When I come back, I'll call you. But Dante is here; anything you want, you can ask him." He handed me his business card. "Here's my card. You can call my personal line." Just then, my phone rang. "Oh God." Jessica said, "Mrs. Beth is calling you. I think the children are up." I answered the phone, and Mrs. Beth said, "Hello, Elle. Are they up?" But before I could respond, I heard the children crying in the background. "Why are they crying, Mrs. Beth?" Mrs. Beth replied, "I think they're looking for you." I exclaimed, "Please, we're on our way." Mrs. Beth put the phone on loudspeaker. "Maya! Dorcas!" I called out their names. Their tiny voices responded, "Mama! Mama!" LUCAS'S P.O.V I was shocked when I heard the twins' voices, "Mama!" Immediately, I felt weak, like I couldn't move. Elle hung up the call. "Is that their voice?" I asked Dante. He nodded. "Yes, she said." Elle turned to leave. "Please, we need to go." I nodded, still in shock. "Okay." As they left, I noticed Jessica checking Dante out. Dante smirked, catching her eye. "Who are you looking at?" I teased. Dante played it cool. "No one, man." I chuckled. "Really? Okay, we'll see about that." Dante turned serious. "Did you hear your children's voices?" I nodded, still trying to process. "Yeah, I heard them. I'm not sure if I'm ready to meet them." Dante reassured me. "Chill, man. They're only babies. They don't know anything." I looked at him uncertainly. "You think so?" Dante nodded. "I know so, Lucas. They're twins, and girls. You're blessed, man." I smiled, feeling a sense of wonder. "Wow, I know. I have to inform my parents and siblings, and Eva too." Dante offered to help. "I'll get Lawyer Ben to process the papers fast." I thanked him, feeling grateful. "Thanks, Dante." As I headed home, I couldn't shake off the feeling of excitement and nervousness. When I arrived, I greeted Irina, the new maid Eva had hired. "Good evening, sir." I asked, "Where's Eva?" Irina replied, "She's in her room." I knocked on Eva's door, and she invited me in. "Hi, Lucas," she said, smiling. I sat down, feeling a sense of calm. "Hi, Eva. I have some good news for you." Eva's eyes sparkled. "Really, Lucas? What is it?" I took a deep breath. "I found the lady who bought the sperm." Eva's expression changed from curiosity to shock. "What? Where is she? And how's the child?" I smiled, savoring the moment. "Easy, Eva. Please." Eva's eyes widened. "The children are fine?" I nodded, feeling a sense of pride. "They're twins, Eva." Eva's hand flew to her mouth, and tears welled up in her eyes. "Oh, Lucas." I laughed, feeling happy. "They're two girls, wonderful." Eva hugged me tightly. "I'm so proud of you, son." We chatted for a while, discussing the twins and the arrangements. Eva reminded me, "You have to inform your parents, Lucas." I nodded, feeling a sense of responsibility. "I will, Eva." As I prepared for bed, I couldn't help but feel excited about meeting my twins. I picked up my phone and dialed Elle's number. "Elle speaking," she answered. "Hi, it's me, Lucas," I said, feeling a sense of nervousness. Elle's voice was calm. "Hi, Lucas." I asked, "Um, did you get home early?" Elle replied, "Yeah, we got home early." I inquired, "What are they doing? Or are they sleeping?" Elle said, "No, they're not sleeping. They just finished bathing, and they're on the bed with me." I smiled, feeling a sense of longing. "Okay, I just called to check on you guys. Please kiss them goodnight for me." Elle agreed. "Okay, bye, Lucas." I hung up, feeling a sense of connection to my twins and their mother.
