CHAPTER 8
LUCAS'S P.O.V
It had been a week since I arrived in Canada, attending to my business ventures here. I'd also learned that my parents had traveled to the UK and would be returning home today.
Since my arrival, I'd been staying in one of my hotels. My siblings had called, inviting me to come home, but I'd told them I'd visit once I was done with my work.
We were a family of six, including my parents. There were two boys, two girls, and I was the second to last born.
After finishing my work for the day, I headed to my hotel to pack my bags. Then, I drove to my parents' mansion and knocked on the door.
The door swung open, revealing my little sister, Carmen. "Lucas!" she exclaimed, jumping into my arms.
I hugged her tightly, rubbing the back of her hair. "I miss you, Lucas," she said, her voice filled with excitement.
"I miss you too, baby sister," I replied, kissing her cheeks. "So, how's my baby doing?"
Carmen smiled. "I'm fine, Lucas. I'll come visit you when I'm on vacation."
I chuckled. "Really? I'll be happy to receive you. But I have some big news to share with you all."
Carmen's eyes widened. "Really, Lucas?"
I nodded. "Yes, my little princess."
Just then, my mom appeared, smiling. "Lucas!" she exclaimed, hugging me tightly.
Carmen stepped aside, and my mom asked, "But why are you still holding your bags?"
I smiled. "I'm just dropping them off, Mom."
My mom called out to John, our butler. "John, take Lucas's bags inside."
John appeared, taking my bags. "Welcome home, young master."
I smiled, feeling a sense of warmth. "Thanks, John. I'm good."
We all walked to the living area, chatting and laughing. I was happy to be home.
As we settled in, I asked, "Where's everyone?"
My mom replied, "Alex is at work, and Candy went out shopping. Your father is in the study."
I nodded, taking a seat.
Just then, my dad called out from the stairs, "Lucas!"
I stood up, smiling. "Dad!"
My dad walked over, hugging me tightly. "How are you, son?"
I smiled. "I'm good, Dad. And you?"
My dad chuckled. "I'm good as you can see."
I grinned. "Dad, Mom, I have some good news to share with you all."
My mom's eyes sparkled. "Really?"
I nodded. "Yes, but we have to wait for Alex and Candy to come first."
My mom smiled. "Okay, son."
I stood up, feeling a bit tired. "I want to go rest for a bit. I'm very tired."
My mom nodded. "Go ahead, son. We'll wake you up when dinner is ready."
I headed to my room, showered, and lay down on my bed. "Home sweet home," I thought, drifting off to sleep.
I was awoken by a knock on my door. "Yes, come in."
John entered, smiling. "Young master, dinner is ready."
I groaned, feeling a bit disoriented. "Thanks, John. I'll be right there."
I checked the clock on the wall – 7:00 PM. I'd slept for a while.
I got dressed and headed downstairs to the dining area. As I entered, Candy hugged me from behind.
"Lucas, dear!" she exclaimed.
I smiled, turning around. "Candy, sis!"
We hugged, and I asked, "How are you?"
Candy smiled. "I'm great, Lucas. But how long has it been?"
I chuckled. "Two years now, my dear big sister."
Candy's eyes widened. "That's very long, Lucas."
We all sat down to dinner, chatting and laughing. Afterward, we headed to the living area.
My dad asked, "So, son, what's this good news you've been talking about?"
I took a deep breath, launching into the story. "You know how I donated sperm a few years ago?"
They all nodded, intrigued.
I continued, "Well, I recently found out that the woman who received my sperm had twins – two beautiful girls."
The room fell silent, and then they all erupted into shocked exclamations.
My mom asked, "How could you do such a thing, Lucas? And you call this good news?"
I held up my hands, calming them down. "Calm down, Mom. I haven't finished yet."
My dad intervened, "Rita, let him finish."
I shook my head, defending myself. "It's not my fault, Mom."
My dad asked, "So, have you found the stripper... I mean, the lady carrying your child?"
I nodded. "Yes, Dad, I found her."
My mom exclaimed, "Thank God!"
My mom asked, "Okay, have you seen your child?"
I replied, "Not yet, Mum."
My mom's expression turned curious. "But... why?"
I explained, "I wanted to inform you people first."
My mom's eyes widened. "I'm now a grandmother! Is it a boy or a girl?"
I paused for dramatic effect. "This is where the surprise comes in... they... are... twins, Mom!"
The room erupted into a chorus of shocked screams. "WHAT!!!!!!... TWINS!!!"
My mom jumped up and down, still shouting. She rushed into my arms, then hugged my dad. Carmen and Candy also hugged me, beaming with excitement.
My dad looked stunned. "I can't believe it, Lucas."
I nodded, smiling. "Twins!"
My dad opened his arms, inviting me for a hug. "Come and hug me, son."
Alex also hugged me. "You're the man, Lucas."
My mom asked, "So, when do we get to meet them?"
I replied, "Anytime, Mom."
My mom's eyes sparkled. "I have to go shopping and buy them lots of gifts. How old are they?"
"They're one year old, Mum."
My mom nodded. "We'll come to New York in two weeks. But I'm not sure your dad will make it."
My dad explained, "I have to travel to Spain around that time."
Carmen chimed in, "And I'm on vacation."
My mom added, "I have to visit my friend's grave; it's been four years since I last visited."
I asked, "Come to think of it, Mom, have you found their daughter... I mean, your goddaughter?"
My mom's expression turned somber. "No, son. We went to their old house, and we were told they moved out. I don't know what happened to their daughter."
I reassured her, "Calm down, Mom. They'll find her."
My mom's eyes welled up with tears. "I miss her very much, Lucas. She was so cute and adorable... a nice girl."
I remembered, "You always teased her that when she grew up, you'd let me marry her."
My mom chuckled. "She was shy that day."
Carmen exclaimed, "I'm going to be an aunt! I'm going to spoil them!"
My mom asked, "But how's the mother?"
I shrugged. "She's fine... just annoying sometimes."
My mom cautioned, "Take it easy, Lucas. She's the mother of your children."
I nodded, knowing my mom was right. "I know, Mom."
My mom advised, "You just have to take it easy, son."
