Chapter 5

209 Words
About two weeks later, I was finally discharged from the hospital. Nathan was waiting for me outside the hospital entrance, wearing a casual suit and leather shoes as he leaned against a flashy sports car. When he saw me, he gave me a bright smile. "Congratulations. You're finally out." I nodded and handed him my luggage. "Help me carry this." The moment Nathan took my luggage, I spotted Elliot standing a short distance behind him. Elliot's expression darkened instantly. He raised a brow and looked at me mockingly. "What? You're not riding in my car?" I shook my head. "Of course. I was waiting for you to pick me up." I walked past Nathan, opened Elliot's car door, and was about to get in. Only then did Elliot's expression improve a little. Nathan, however, was unhappy. "Vanessa, you're not taking my car? After everything he did to you, you're still chasing after him?" I gave Nathan a reassuring look. "Don't misunderstand. I'm done being a doormat. Go to the bar first and get the drinks ready. After I finalize the divorce with him, we will celebrate together." Then I urged Elliot, who was still frozen in place. "Why are you standing there? Get in. We're going to the courthouse."
