Sasha was still working on Ember's potion. She said it should be ready later tonight. I didn't want to be the one to tell Stephan. I don't know how he was keeping control over his bear. I don't think I would have been able to control my lycon. Not while our mate was in heat. Ember let out a blood-curdling scream. My heart was breaking at the sound of her pain.
I wanted to go to her. To hold her and comfort her. But I stayed where I was. There was nothing I could do to help her. She needed her mate and that was not me. Stephan was who she needed. My touch would do nothing to ease her pain. It would just set off Stephan's bear. Pissing off Stephan's bear was not something I wanted to do. Especially right now when he was barely holding it together.
