Raine's P.O.V
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
It's like everything I'v ever seen hits me in my nightmares.
*
I bit down on my lip as the first injection pierced into on my arm.
Imagine someone stabbing a pencil under your skin. Triple the pain by five and you may be somewhere on how much this hurt.
I could feel the metal needle burrowing under my skin. I closed my eyes and tried to ignore the furious stinging.
I will not cry.
"Ok now I'm putting in the Reactor 2006." The Lady Whitecoat said to a small group who watched. It reminded me of a science project you did at school with dead frogs.
I will now cut out the frogs heart.
She picked up a metal band and clamped it on my arm, "The Reactor 2006 will take a reading of the experiments Pronotacol Genes." I closed my eyes as a vibrating burning sensation erupted up my hand.
I will not cry.
The Whitecoat picked up a syringe from her tray,
"When I inject Goglopton acid into the experiment's blood stream it's immune system should fight off the germs with an incredible speed." She smiled at her team,
"Will the gir...I mean, experiment feel any pain?" A young Whitecoat asked,
"The experiment will feel a reasonable amount of side affects."
A sob escaped my bleeding lips but somehow I managed to keep back the tears. She pricked the needle into my vein and wrenched off the metal band. At first I felt normal. My arm was hurting but no more than usual. Then it started. My head swayed with dizziness, small floats of specks dotted my vision. I felt the vomit rising up my throat and spewing out of my lips before I could even prepare myself.
I was burning inside.
Fire grew in every cell. Lava swimming my veins. I was dying. I could feel it.
I want to die. I want it to stop.
I could hear shouting but the sound of my heart's beat blocked out the words. I couldn't breath. I didn't know where I was.
Who am I?
A scream filled the world as I felt my body rip in two.
>>>>
"WHAT THE f**k ARE YOU DOING TO HER!" I slammed off the metal chair and ripped off the straps which held me down. A Whitecoat tried to stop me, I punched him in the face making him fall down to the tiles. Raine was screaming and that scream was what fed my power. It was all I could hear. Her eyes were shut, her mouth open in a single O as she shrieked into the lab. Whitecoats ran around Raine injecting her with needles. I ran forwards and stopped...
Scar stood in front of me,
"Get back boy. Leave her." He growled.
Like hell would I leave her.
I stared around and picked up the first thing my hand could reach. It was an empty glass jug. Scar smiled,
"You'll be killed if you touch me with it." He sneered.
"Kill me then" I spat and lunged at him smashing it against his sun burned head. He roared in pain and I kicked him in the shin. Scar tried to fight back but I was stronger and stabbed the sharp fragments of glass in his face. His blood covered my face and hands. His eyes were shut.
I could kill him.
Pure white anger roared inside me. I could have stabbed him in his heart right then but instead I took a breath and kicked him in his balls for good luck.
She needed me.
"Get back all of you, or I'll stab you." I held the glass in my hands. It was all I had. The Whitecoats backed away from me,
"Raine?" I ran up to her and shook her. She stopped crying and stared at me,
"It hurts. Oh god it hurts. Make it stop, please." She bit her already bleeding lips. I gazed at her feeling hopeless,
"Someone f*****g help her then you t***s!" I shouted at the hovering Whitecoats,
"Here try this." A young women Whitecoat said. I snatched the needle she held,
"Raine.I 'm gonna give you something now." Her face was red and sweating. She was shivering,
"Will it, take it away?" Her body arched up in a new wave of pain, "Just kill me!" She shouted. I stabbed the needle in before I changed my mind. I waited as I clutched her in my arms and then, oh so slowly she lifted her head,
"Am I dead Rev?"
A sob escaped my lips,
"Not yet. Come on." I pulled off the bands holding her down and lifted Raine up,
"Where are we going?" She muttered. I stared at Scar laying on the floor unconscious and the Whitecoats gazing at me with terror in their eyes,
"Were getting out. We're leaving."
I pulled Raine up and thankfully she got to feet,
"No, no Rev, we can't just try and leave... " She gasped. I ignored her and stared at my glass shard. It wouldn't last long. On a tray, a silver scalpel gleamed. I picked it up and put the glass in my pocket,
"Come on Raine, please try." She staggered forwards as I pulled her to the door. I opened it and looked around.
Just the looming shadows and silence
To be honest, as I dragged Raine down the passage ways I had no idea what I was doing...
We have to get out.
"Rev. We have to...go..b.a..ck." She was clutching her stomach and trembling. I was basically carrying her along.
Damn, crap. What the hell do I do?
"No. it's ok were leaving." We turned into a staircase. I hovered, up or down? Someone shouted behind me,
"Hey!" I spun and an ugly Man with bulging eyes glared at us. For a moment I was stunned frozen by fear, then I reacted. Raine fell to the floor as I let go of her and jumped on the Man. He growled as I held the scalpel to his neck. I made the biggest mistake of my life. I hesitated and in that slight second he punched me in the face. I fell back as he slammed a fist on my leg. I screamed. I coudn't help it. In the man's hand, a gleaming hunters knife glinted. A raging stinging tore up my leg.
He had stabbed me!
"Got you now boy." The Man leaned over me.
It was over.
Then I saw Raine grabbing his hair and trying to distracted him. It worked. He looked back and shooved her off but it gave me time. I picked up my scalpel and stabbed the blade into his chest. I done it again and again. My white rage had returned. He had probably helped kill the other kids.
He had to suffer.
"Rev. Rev. REV HE'S DEAD!" Raine was shouting. All the kids in their rooms must have heard her. I dropped the blade.
Shit.
I had killed him.
Killing wasn't anything like in the movies where the hero got up and walked away. I puked up beside the bleeding body. I was cold, freezing,
"Rev. Come on, you have to pick up the scalpel. We can't go back now. They will kill us." She was breathing hard. I hardly felt the pain in my leg anymore.
Murderer.
"I killed him." I whispered. Staring at his body, his eyes were open but dead. Dead because of me. I urged but no more sick came up,
"It was him, or us. Would you it rather be us dead?" She gasped. I stared up at her blue eyes and saw her faith in me.
Save her and then you can break-down.
I stood up ignoring the pain in my leg.
I deserve the pain.
Murderer.
"Help me up. I can't stand by myself." Raine breathed.
We stumbled down the stairs. I didn't know how to get out, but going to the ground floor was a start. I was in robot mode not thinking about what I had just done. By now the Whitecoats would have told The Men. We didn't have much time.
We had to get out...
********
>>>>>>"Cal"Cal ran down the corridor. Mr Creeds had said to find the two kids who had got out of the labs,
"How?" He had asked Creeds,
"Your'e a kid, think like one."
If it was him, the first thing he would have done was gone to ground floor. He entered the staircase and stopped in his tracks. There was a body surrounded in blood on the wooden floorboards.Cal checked the Man's pulse. Dead. He stood up, wiping the blood off his fingers on his shirt.
The kids had killed someone. Crap.
He ran down the stairs and stopped
"We're going to die..." A girl huffed softly. Cal stood behind the wall and watched the two kids staggering down a corridor,
"Don't think like that." A boy hissed. They turned the corner and he sneaked behind them keeping in the shadows,
"I need a rest." The girl mumbled. The boy didn't answer but turned into a arched doorway. Cal watched. He was clever but he didn't know what to do. He could follow them into the unknown arch or he could run back to Mr Creeds. There was another option of course; he could try to escape like the kids were doing.
"Are they in there?" Cal spun around and stared into the cool face of Mr Creeds.
"No. They ran up the passage way." He lied smoothly. Creeds stared at him looking amused,
"You lie well Cal. I like that." Creeds pushed passed him. He went to follow him but Creeds turned around,
"Oh no. Go back to my office, you don't want to go in here. I can assure you." He smiled and walked into the arched room.

We stepped into the arch room and I swung open the unlocked door. Raine's skin was pure white now and she was drenched in beads of sweat. We needed to stop. The sound of a soft buzzing met my ears as we opened the door. The smell of copper and molding rancid meat blasted us in the face as we stepped inside.
Shit.
I dropped Raine as I stared around. She was sick the second she hit the floor. I felt my own vomit rising up my throat and spewing out my mouth. I fell to the ground beside her letting the cold tiles freeze me. All thoughts of escape were gone as I looked around.
I suppose I had always wondered what they did to the dead kids bodies.
Hanging from giant fishhooks were black bruised lifeless bodies. Their round eyes were gazing open in a dead glare.
No. This wasn't real. It was fake.
Red blood splashed down on the floor mixing with puddles of urine that dripped from the bodies. Flies crawled into the gaps of their open skin. Everything was red. The walls used to be white but were painted in splodges of blood. Raine was crying softly.
A table was against the wall; I could see carving knifes covered in dried blood on it. I sat up and stared at the small figure which laid on it's surface. It was cut open, flaps of purple skin and half rotting guts were spreaded in a bloody goo. Black specks moved along the body. I realised it was flies crawling inside.
"Raine." I started to say but she inturrped me,
"I know. We can't escape without the others." She whispered her eyes were closed. The sound of the door opening filled the air. I didn't look up. This was it. We were going to die.
Right here in the blood room.
