Chapter 3

It’s getting closer to midnight I can feel it in my bones I’m antsy so I’m pacing back and forth I made Ryan go to bed early so I can focus on myself, Marie, and Wilder.

It’s currently 11:56 and I am getting really hot Marie says that it’s what happens when we are close to our shift, she grabs me by the arm and leads me outside to the soft grass to sit down, “Marie I’m scared” I whined like a child “sweetie I’m right here and so is wilder we are gonna help you through this.” She says sweetly and soothingly.

Marie looks at her watch and sighs “Its time sweetie but just remember we are right here” that’s when I feel it my body feels like it’s been set on fire and I have lava flowing through my veins, that’s when I feel it the first *pop* then I feel another *snap* I scream the most blood curdling scream I’ve ever heard come from me. Marie jumps over to me to hold me “shhh baby girl it’s ok I’m here,” she cuddles me close Wilder crawls closer to me and rubs my legs which for some reason helps calm me down a little. After an hour of the constant same pain, screams, and crying, I’ve finally shifted I look down at my hands well now paws and something is off I am a grey pretty much silver but I have a blue almost glowing tint to me, I slowly stand on all fours very wobbly but I stand, I look at Marie to wilder then take a deep calming breath but what I inhale is fresh cut grass, sweet cinnamon rolls, and ocean breeze, “MATE” Bella yells in my head I look up to stare at Wilder he growls low deep in his throat deep enough to make me shiver in pleasure.

“Mate” wilder growled Marie looked over at wilder then at me “oh sweetheart you are the most beautiful wolf I’ve ever seen” she gushed “I can’t believe you two are mates this is the best thing ever” I whined not only cause I was scared but I wanted to shift back I didn’t want to run and neither did Bella she understood my emotions *let’s go inside my girl just think of your human body and you will shift back* I concentrate and finally feel myself shifting back to my body.

I lay there covering myself I hear Wilder growl looking at me Marie steps in front of me and throws a blanket on top of me this makes wilder growl even more “Wilder Ren Octavius don’t you dare growl at me I don’t care if you are bigger then me I will still whoop your ass” she growls out while shooting daggers at her son he rolls his eyes and grunts at her. She grabs me up in her arms carefully and takes me into the house she brings me upstairs and sets me on my bed I look to my bed side table I usually have a water bottle sitting there but today I don’t “I need a water” my voice is dry and hoarse Marie gets up “I’ll go grab you one sweetie” she gets up and walks out Wilder walks up to me and goes down onto his knees so he is eye level with me “You are the most beautiful woman and wolf I’ve ever seen happy birthday my beautiful mate” he leans in and kisses my forehead the sparks that ignite on my skin are breathtaking it makes me gasp he leans back and smiles he cups my face “my beautiful mate” the sparks from his touch was amazing I reached up and touched his face “you aren’t going to reject me?” I asked questioningly he looked at me puzzled then growled a terrifying growl it made me scared “I would never even think of saying those words to you” the hurt that flashed in his eye made my heart hurt physically I never knew if my mate would want me because of me being different from other wolves. Marie comes back into the room and hands me my water.

Laying there looking at wilder and Marie “Alright sweetheart we are gonna go” wilder growls lowly I can tell he didn’t want to go “Wilder we need to let her rest you remember how hard it was on you” she says sweetly “I’ll be by in the morning I want you to sleep as much as you need I’ll take care of Ryan” I nod my head “wilder sweetheart let’s go” Marie walks out wilder bends down and whispers in my ear “I’ll be back tomorrow my beautiful mate” hearing those words makes me shiver. How can fate be I am mated to someone I just met. As I fall asleep I say a silent prayer to the mood goddess thank you for blessing me.

Waking up this morning wasn’t pleasant I rolled over to notice some water and a few pain killers I took them quickly slowly getting up I put on some pj shorts and a crop top then headed to the bathroom. Now you might be thinking why pain killers well our first shift is always the hardest sometimes it takes us a few extra days to heal even with the fast healing. As I walk out of the bathroom Marie walks in “Oh hello darlin I didn’t think you’d be up yet I brought you some breakfast,” she smiles and sets the tray on my bed then I smell him before I see him wilder walks in slowly. He looks at me in the eyes then proceeds to eye me up and down slowly then I realize what I put on oops I attempt to cover myself but wilder growls a low growl “Don’t cover up you are beautiful don’t ever forget that,” he says I nod then walk over to my bed and sit down to get comfortable to sit and eat. Marie walks over and feels my forehead “Well you aren’t running a fever so that’s good but I want you to rest today I’ll take care of Ryan and he already fed the horses and did the morning chores,” that almost makes me cry within itself “I can’t believe he did that he is such a good boy.” As Marie and I are talking wilder is just staring at me.

I finally look down at my breakfast and realize it’s all my favorite breakfast food Swedish pancakes, soft scrambled eggs, and bacon. “Ryan told me what your favorite breakfast is and showed me the secret family recipe I hope you don’t mind,” Marie look at me “It doesn’t bother me at all I haven’t made them in a long time so this is the best thing ever thank you!” Wilder walks over and sits on the end of my bed and pulls up his legs to sit cross legged, “You need to eat Elizabetha,” hearing wilder say my name gives me shivers I love it, grabbing the fork I start to devour my food I couldn’t believe how famished I was from shifting.

After I finish eating I hear Ryan running up the stairs “sissyyyyy” he comes running into my room and throws his arms around my neck “I was so worried about you last night sissy,” he cuddles into me closer I hold him close “I’m ok bud and just wait till you see my wolf bud you’ll love her just as much as I do” as I tell Ryan this she does a purr growl in my head and sits listening to Ryan “I will come down soon I need to rest ok bub” he leans back and nods “I will do the chores for you sissy I know you need to rest” he leans in close to my ear and whispers “I really like rieka sissy” I look at him and nod “I’m glad you do now go play so I can rest you goober” he smiles and runs back down stairs. “Alright sweetie I’m gonna let you take a nap and I’ll be back up to check on you,” Marie says I turn and look at wilder “Will you stay up here with me?” I ask hesitantly he nods and sits at the end of my bed Marie takes my plates then shuts the door I roll over then slowly drift off to sleep.
