SISTERS UNFILTERED

Sira woke up from her bed, stretching her arms above her head. She arched her back and let out a gentle yawn, feeling the morning sunlight streaming through her window. The warm rays danced across her face, illuminating her features and casting a golden glow on her skin. She reached for her phone on the bedside table and checked for any messages. As she scrolled through her inbox, her face fell when she saw there were no new messages from Alex, the boy who had caught her eye at the prom. Sira's thoughts drifted back to the prom, and she couldn't help but wonder if she would see Alex again. She replayed their conversation in her head, analyzing every word and gesture. Despite the lack of messages, Sira's excitement and anticipation remained. Undeterred, Sira got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face. She took her time, enjoying the cool water and the freshness of her toothpaste. The minty flavor invigorated her senses, and she felt refreshed and revitalized. When she came out, she stood in front of her mirror, admiring her reflection. She looked beautiful, with her flawless skin and striking features. Sira decided to go with a tomboyish outfit, pairing a graphic t-shirt with distressed denim jeans. She pulled her straight blonde hair into a bun and wore her glasses. She added a faint lipstick to complete her look, a soft pink shade that complemented her complexion. As she finished getting ready, Sira felt confident and comfortable in her own skin. Just as she was about to leave her room, the maid, Luzia, entered. Luzia was a new maid who had started working at the house two months ago. She was efficient and friendly, and Sira liked her. "Good morning, ma'am," Luzia said with a smile. "I'm here to tidy up your room." Sira nodded and asked, "Luzia, did Mom say anything about breakfast?" Luzia replied, "Yes, ma'am. Madam said you should come down for breakfast." Sira's stomach growled, and she asked, "What are we having for breakfast?" Luzia listed off the menu, but Sira's face scrunched up in distaste. "I don't feel like eating that," Sira said. "Can I have pancakes and orange juice instead?" Luzia nodded and said, "I'll go prepare it for you and come back to take care of your bed later." Sira came downstairs after the maid, Luzia, went to prepare her orange juice and pancakes. She greeted her mom, who smiled and replied warmly. Sira sat down on the dining chair, waiting for her breakfast to arrive. Just then, her twin sister, Sia, came downstairs, looking like a vision in her cropped top and mini skirt. Her coily blonde hair, with subtle hints of black, cascaded down her back, framing her beautiful face. Sia's makeup was flawless, and she exuded a confident, girly vibe. Sia sat down beside Sira, and the two sisters exchanged a warm smile. Their mom, Imelda, looked at them with pride, admiring their identical yet distinct features. When Luzia brought the pancakes and orange juice, Sira thanked her and began eating. The pancakes were fluffy and sweet, and the orange juice was freshly squeezed. Sira savored every bite, feeling grateful for the delicious food. After Luzia left, Sia asked, "Why aren't you eating the food the other maids prepare? You're always eating pancakes and juice." Sira shrugged and said, "That's what I'm hungry for. That's what I feel like eating." Sia teased her, "Oh, what a way to waste food! You're so picky." Sira playfully complained, "Shut up, I'm just eating what I want. Don't judge me." As the sisters continued to tease each other, their mother, Imelda, intervened, trying to steer the conversation towards a more positive topic. "Girls, let's not argue. Sira, eat your pancakes and enjoy your breakfast," she said with a warm smile. Imelda took a deep breath and continued, "By the way, I've been looking into colleges for Sia, and I think I've found a great one that offers programs in fashion and cosmetics. One of your late father friend, Mr. Johnson, owns a fashion company and a cosmetic company, and they're looking for talented individuals to join their team." Sia's eyes lit up with excitement as she thought about the opportunities that lay ahead. "Mom, that sounds amazing! I've always been passionate about fashion and makeup," she said, her voice filled with enthusiasm. Imelda smiled, happy to see her daughter's interest. "The college has a great program that will give you the training you need to succeed in the industry," she continued. "And because of Mr. Johnson's connection, I'm sure they'll be happy to accept you if you mention his name." Sia nodded eagerly, already imagining herself in the fashion world. "Thanks, Mom. I'll definitely look into it," she said, her mind racing with possibilities. Imelda turned to Sira and asked, "Sira, have you given any thought to your college plans?" Sira thought for a moment before responding, "Actually, Mom, I'd like to study business with a focus on design and entrepreneurship." Imelda nodded. "Okay, that's great. We'll find a good college that offers a strong program in business and design. I'll help you get everything sorted out." Sia suddenly cut in, "Mom, hope Sira isn't coming to the same college as me. I don't want her to cramp my style with her boring business talk and spreadsheets. She's always so serious and practical, it's like, hello, where's the fun in that?" Imelda raised an eyebrow. "Sia, that's not very nice. Your sister is interested in business, and that's great. She's going to do wonderful things in her field." Sia continued, "I know, Mom, but she's just so... predictable. I mean, business, really? That's not exactly the most creative field. I'm worried she'll bring me down with her lack of imagination." Imelda smiled wryly. "Sia, you're being unfair. Business requires a lot of creativity and problem-solving skills. Sira will thrive in that field, and you'll do great things in fashion. You'll both do well in your respective colleges." Sia sighed dramatically. "I just don't want to be held back by Sira's boringness. Can't she just be more... exciting?" Imelda chuckled. "Sia, Sira is her own person, and she'll do things her way. You need to focus on your own passions and interests. You'll both be happy in different colleges, pursuing different dreams." Sia pouted, still looking unconvinced. "I guess you're right, Mom. But I'm still glad we're not going to the same college. I don't think I could handle Sira's constant talk about profit margins and market trends." As Sia teased Sira about her college plans, Sira's face fell slightly, and she looked hurt. However, she quickly composed herself and tried to appear nonchalant. She didn't want to show Sia that her words had gotten to her. Sira shrugged and replied coolly, "Whatever, Sia. I'm just going to focus on my studies and make a success of myself." Sia seemed to sense that she'd hit a nerve and stopped teasing Sira, momentarily. The room was quiet for a moment before the doorbell rang. The butler entered the room and announced, "Miss Selina is here to visit." Sira's face lit up with excitement as she heard Selina's name. She couldn't help but smile widely, and her eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. "Oh, Selina's here? That's great!" Sia, on the other hand, seemed unimpressed. She raised an eyebrow and said in a detached tone, "Oh, great. Selina's here. How... thrilling." Sira shot Sia a look, but she didn't rise to the bait. Instead, she stood up and walked towards the door, her excitement evident in her steps. "I'll go greet her," she said, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm. As Sira walked out of the room, Sia watched her with a mixture of curiosity and amusement. She seemed to be wondering why Sira was so excited to see Selina. Meanwhile, Sira rushed to the entrance hall, her heart racing with excitement. When she saw Selina, she smiled warmly and greeted her with a hug. "Selina! It's so great to see you! What brings you here today?" Selina smiled back and chatted with Sira, and the two friends seemed to hit it off immediately. Sia, on the other hand, observed from a distance, her expression still cool and detached. Sira invited Selina inside, and Selina entered with a bright smile. "Hey, Mrs. Thompson! It's great to see you again." Imelda smiled warmly. "Selina, dear! It's lovely to see you. How have you been?" Good ma'am,Selina turned to Sia and said, "Hey, Sia! What's up? Sia replied with a casual "Hey" and didn't seem too enthusiastic. Sira then gestured for Selina to follow her upstairs. "Hey, Mom, I'll be upstairs with Selina. We're going to catch up," Sira said. Imelda nodded. "Okay, dear. I'll be here if you need anything." Sira and Selina headed upstairs, chatting as they went. Once they were in Sira's room, they sat down and started discussing everything. "Oh my gosh, Selina, I'm so glad you're here! I've been dying to talk to you about prom," Sira said, excitement creeping into her voice. Selina grinned. "I know, me too! I loved your dress, by the way. You looked stunning." Sira blushed. "Thanks, Selina! I was so nervous, but it was an amazing night. What about you? Did you have fun?" Even though I left early because of the awful incident. Selina nodded, oh sorry about that it will all be fine, but I had a blast! I'm so glad you still made it." The conversation flowed easily, and they chatted about prom, sharing stories and laughter. After a while, they moved on to discussing their college plans. Sira shared her excitement about studying business with a focus on design and entrepreneurship, and how her mom was helping her find a great college. Selina listened intently and shared her own plans to study psychology. The two friends enjoyed each other's company, happy to be together again and talk about their future plans. Sira filled Selina in on the latest gossip and news from their friend group. They chatted about everything from college plans to summer vacation ideas. The conversation flowed easily, and they discussed their hopes and dreams for the future. Sira also mentioned her complicated relationship with Sia, and how they were different but still got along. Selina offered words of encouragement and support, and the two friends enjoyed each other's company, happy to be together again. The afternoon flew by quickly, and before they knew it, it was time for Selina to leave. Sira walked Selina downstairs, and they said their goodbyes. As Selina left, Sira felt grateful for their friendship and looked forward to staying in touch. She went back upstairs, feeling more positive and excited about her future.
