A month later, the subject of the news about his remarkable success, Olli Kaunisvesi, was secretly confined in the hospital. He was overdosed because of drinking 32 sleeping pills and alcohol, which made it worse.
He woke up after an induced coma of 7 days, still with his head aching badly. He was disappointed to wake up—as it meant that his plan had failed.
As he opened his eyes, the lights started to sink in him. He’s still on earth, in a place that resembled a hospital. What confirmed to him that he was in fact in a hospital was when a young, seemingly new doctor came inside, scheduled to examine him.
“I’m glad that you are now awake,” the doctor said. Olli looked at his name plate, but he didn’t reply. “You were in a coma for 7 days,” he added.
However, that was not in Olli’s priority list of information that he wanted to know when he woke up.
“Did someone come and visit me?” he asked. The doctor looked sad. He didn’t want to tell Olli that no one had visited him, so he pretended to smile. Just before he could mutter a lie, Olli spoke. “I see, no one did,” he said sadly.
The doctor, unable to endure the awkwardness, just proceeded to examine him. “I think you can be discharged tomorrow,” he said and smiled.
“I say I’d be discharged right now,” Olli declared. The doctor, knowing that Olli is the owner of the hospital he was working at, just nodded.
“Yes sir, I will process it now,” he bowed. However, just as he was about to leave, he suddenly remembered something. “Oh, sir, someone did visit you”.
Olli pulled the cords and needle from his arm and leapt towards the terrified doctor seriously. He stood in front of him, so tall, that the doctor looked down. “Speak”.
The doctor stuttered. “Y-yes. He told me to give him a call when you wake up,” he added.
“What are you waiting for?” Olli asked in a bossy manner. The doctor, still terrified, nearly ran away to get to the telephone in the reception. However, Olli caught his doctor’s robe and pulled him inside the room again. “Call. Him. Now. Here.”
“Y-yes. I-I’ll do it now,” he said, still nervous. He nearly dropped his phone when he took it out of his pockets. He then nervously looked at his phonebook and dialed the number.
“YSDI,” Olli read the name of the number the doctor was calling.
“Yes sir. He is already awake. He’s going to be discharged by noon,” the doctor said. “Okay, I will tell him. Okay. Okay. Got it”.
Olli looked at him seriously, “he said he will go here right away. He’s on his way sir,” the doctor said. Olli turned his back against him and said, “You may now leave”.
Just seconds after the doctor left the door, Olli heard someone shouting. “And you are wondering why no one visited you?! Your personality sucks! I bet you don’t even have a friend!” it was the doctor having an outburst in the hall. He did not know that Olli could hear everything. Olli went out of his room, determined to fire the doctor, but the doctor was already running away and tripping.
He just went back to his bed and laid down. Why had he tried to take his own life that night?
All he could remember was that he thought he saw his dead girlfriend again while he was out in the club. Only 11% of people on earth could have a hair that looks exactly like his girlfriend’s— curly, red hair, but the woman serving the customers had the same hair, just longer. The girl was working on that bar, and her hair was apparent even when the lights were dim.
Olli, being drunk, and after an hour of observing the woman, went to approach her—and the first thing that he did was to hug her from behind as she entered the comfort room. “Skye,” he called.
At first, she was shocked by his actions, and she tried hard to be free from him. “I’m not— “.
However, Olli hugged her tighter, aware of her fright. “I know you are not her,” Olli whispered as the girl momentarily stopped resisting. They were both breathing hard, tension was building up in the air. “But I’m begging you, just… just please let me hug you for a while, so it would feel as if I’m hugging her,” he cried.
The woman sighed, as if thinking that she had encountered yet another drunk, grieving customer. To Olli, however, what he encountered was a solace, a warmth that he had been longing for the past 5 years.
“Why did you leave me?” Olli asked repeatedly as he hugged her for a good five minutes or so. However, it was then that all the liquor that he drank got into his head. He collapsed, still holding the woman with him, and they both fell down the floor. Olli, for the first time, saw the woman’s face. She looked so pretty in his eyes, almost ethereal. Her grey eyes looked like the moon shining down him. Even when she looked haggard, she seemed like an angel in his sight. Olli cupped her left cheek and closed his eyes. He then zoomed in until their faces were separated by only an inch of a margin, and he when he opened them again, his lips met hers—how long was that peck—he didn’t know, but it was his first kiss after 5 years. She pushed him away and started to fix herself.
“Sir, I think you need to go home now. You are too drunk,” she said and gave him a hand which he took. They were both back standing again. “I will call a cab for you, so just wait here. I will get my things because my shift is just over,” she walked away as Olli watched her. He remembered his wife when he looked at the woman he just kissed. Sooner or later, the woman was back, still looking tired, especially with the dark circles that enveloped her eyes. Olli didn’t think that those marks made her ugly. To him, she was someone that was so beautiful that his heart had started beating again.
“W-what is your name?” Olli asked as the woman led her to the car.
“My name is Matahari,” she said. However, Olli didn’t realize that he will forget that name as he woke up seven days later in the hospital.

“Olli? Mr. Kaunisvesi?” a man in his late 40s called. He was standing beside the bed where Olli was. He sat down and urged the other person to sit down as well. Olli observed him. He was a typical looking businessman who will negotiate a deal. His happiness submerged itself in the middle of the ocean. He was so happy to have heard someone visited him, but he didn’t desire the old man. “I am Erik Mattias, the CEO of YSDA foundation,” he introduced.
Olli was not having it. “What’s that rubbish?” he asked.
“R-rubbish?” Erik asked silently. However, he regained composure and handed him a luxurious-looking leaflet. “My foundation is called You Shouldn’t Die Alone. We give companionship to those people who are alone and suicidal,” he said. Olli looked at him.
“How did you know that I am suicidal? Is it out in the press?” he asked, with a hint of panic in his voice.
“Let’s just say that I have an insider,” Erik smirked. “You will have a contract marriage to the woman in my company of your choice and they will be your companion for 3 months,” he continued.
“I don’t know what kind of people will believe this bullshit,” Olli said, still disappointed at the only person who visited him for the past week. “Why would I agree to this stupid arrangement?”
There was not a long pause from Erik as he smirked, an action from him that Olli found annoying. He hated seeing people who feel like they gained an upper hand against him. “The organization has women who looks like your ex-girlfriend,” he said. Olli looked at him and raised an eyebrow.
“What made you think that I would ever want to love someone other than my beloved woman?” he asked, but as soon as his mouth opened to speak, he remembered how his heart beated for the woman he saw at the bar. Not wanting to show any weakness, he stood up from his bed and pulled Erik in his collar. “My Skye is the only one for me,” he said angrily.
“W-we are not trying to replace her,” Erik explained. “We are just trying to give you a warmth that you might want, something to hold on to before you leave earth,” he said, he felt Olli’s grasp soften. He continued, “you will never be alone in a hospital ward like this again,” he said. Olli completely let go of him and went back to his bed to sit.
“Red curly hair,” he said. “If you don’t have a woman like that, you shouldn’t have bothered to come to me,” however, Erik pulled a huge folder from the bag he carried.
“I have these compiled just for you,” Erik said and handed Olli the folder.
Olli reluctantly took the folder and scanned. “Nah, not that, not that as well,” he spent a minute looking at a profile, but in the end, he said, “nah,”.
For about half an hour of scanning profiles, Olli stopped at a portrait of a certain woman that he was very familiar with. His eyes filled with tears as he touched the woman’s portrait.
Erik was already snoozing. “I thought I’d never find you again,” Olli cried, waking Erik up. He hugged the folder as his tears welled his face, shocking Erik. His hug exposed his arms, and cuts were apparent in them.
“Arrange the meeting as soon as possible,” Olli said and wiped his tears away, in a more serious tone. “By soon, I mean tomorrow or this afternoon,”.
“Of course,” Erik said and took the folder away from Olli. He looked at the chosen one. “Matahari Taylor?”
“Yes, why?” Olli asked in a sulky manner.
“Nothing, It’s just that she’s new in the company. Not very well-trained yet. I think there has been a mistake that added her to the list,” Erik said. “You can choose another one”.
“No,” Olli said firmly. “I have chosen her,” he stood up and tore the profile from the folder that Erik held. “She’s mine now”.
“I see,” Erik said and sighed. “I will e-mail you the rendezvous later. I can arrange a meeting at 9 pm.”
“Good,” he said.

“They… they just called!” Matahari screamed as Sunset went out of the bathroom. “I will sign a contract at 9 pm!”
They both hugged each other, almost teary, as they celebrated the event. “You need to borrow clothes from me because the company hasn’t completed you training yet, so no clothes from them” Sunset said. Matahari, still teary, just nodded at her and went straight to the bathroom. Meanwhile, Sunset has been rampaging on her own wardrobe just to find the best outfit that would help her best friend.
As she was fixing the hair of her best friend, Sunset teased her, “How about the guy you met in the club last week?” she asked. Matahari immediately blushed. “I mean—he proposed to you”.

Flashback…
“Sir, I think you need to go home now. You are too drunk,” Matahari said and gave him a hand which he took. They were both back standing again. “I will call a cab for you, so just wait here. I will get my things because my shift is just over,” she started walking away from him, but he caught her hand and held her tightly, afraid of letting her go. She looked at him and saw tears lurking in his eyes.
“Sir?” Matahari asked. However, the man hugged her again, this time, she was able to properly feel his heartbeat against hers. They synced.
“Will you marry me?” he asked as his forehead met hers. Matahari felt the tension in the air, but then, a woman came in the comfort room, and she had to push the man away from her.
Nobody held her as lovingly as that man.

“It’s a shame that you never knew his name,” Sunset said. “And damn, he kissed you!”
“Shut up already,” Matahari said, er cheeks still blushing heavily. Sunset laughed at her and looked at the perfect image of her best friend. “Do you think the will like me?” she asked.
“Duhh, why not? If he doesn’t, all that will mean is that he doesn’t have a taste”. Sunset said. “Now I will catch a cab for you,” she said and left Matahari to ponder to herself, still thinking of the man that she had encountered in the bar.
She hoped to see him again, to feel his hug again—or his kiss—
“Stop Matahari” she slapped her cheeks. “Forget him”.
And then, the cab arrived, and Sunset pulled her best friend and shoved her inside the car. “Remember, be yourself”.
“Yes, yes,” Matahari said, and her nervousness was apparent.
“Don’t be nervous. You can do it,” Sunset said.
The cab driver drove away, as Matahari wondered what kind of man she would be married to. For almost an hour of travel, she was able to reach the very fancy restaurant she always wanted to go to, Fandina&Co. She breathed hard and fixed herself. She wasn’t aware of the attention that she was getting because of her beauty. She was wearing a black high-heeled shoes and a black, beautiful dress that made her figure stand out. She was greeted by a smile by the guard, and she walked to the VIP elevator, to be lifted to the rooftop. As she arrived, the CEO of the company was there, waiting for her.
“The contract is in the table. Wait for the client,” he commanded, and Matahari nodded. As the CEO went down, she looked around her. The reception was so beautiful. Fairy lights which served as the roof of the rooftop made the venue look so pretty. There was also a faint classical music that echoed from the restaurant downstairs. A table at the center was there, decorated by golden linens.
“Such a pretty venue,” Matahari said as she pulled one of the chairs that made her see the entire city night lights.
She nearly forgot about the man that she liked from the club, when the curious irony of fate struck her when a man appeared from the elevator and sat in front of her.
It was the man from the club, looking more handsome than he used to. “Hello Matahari, my name is Olli Kaunisvesi,” he declared. “I believe that we had met before”.
Matahari couldn’t speak. She feared that Olli might hear her heartbeat because it was too loud. However, Olli just smiled at her, easing her. Just then, his hands reached her, and they both undeniably felt sparks. Their eyes met, and Matahari was pretty sure that their hearts synched again.
