CHAPTER 8: I CAN'T LIVE THIS WAY.

The cries of Mr. Philip could still be heard as Miss Kanaan dropped the sword that was covered in blood, she took off her gloves and apron, she was more pissed than before, Philip had refused to say anything about Michael, such loyalties were common in this line of business which wasn’t anything new to her.
People are really ready to lay down their lives just to protect the secret of whoever they pledge their loyalty to.
" Ma, you have a phone call" Sky informed as he walked down to her, passing her the phone.
" Who is it?" she asked not looking at the direction of the phone
" it's your father"
The mention of her father made her feel a little fear which she shook off immediately
" Could he just let me be" she murmured, knowing the exactly reason why he was calling. it was related to the New York incident which had a connection to with Philip and she didn't want him to scold her for any reason whatsoever.
" Don't take the calls, whenever he calls just let it ring or ignore it" she said to Sky who shook his head in understanding before putting his phone into his pocket.
" What are you going to do with Philip?" He asked out of curiosity, because she had let him live.
" I'll definitely get the truth out of him one way or another, no matter what it takes" she said as she stared at his direction through the glass window outside the room.
" I'm going to make sure I break his loyalty into shreds of nothing" she spoke before removing her eyes, and returning to Sky.
He knew clearly well that she was going to do anything possible to catch Michael. Michael had been a big pain in the ass when it got to Beauty mix,
" I need the files on the Davis, there is definitely something familiar about the guy from the cafe" she requested having a brief memory of Miles
" I'll have them sent up to your room"
" Do that with a bottle of whiskey as well, I need to calm my nerves both Micheal and Philip are getting on my nerves" she added before walking off.
Kanaan took the elevator back up to the main building, she opened the door to her room, only to be welcomed by a sleeping Klaus, who laid on the couch.
He curled himself up into a ball as he slept, she had forgotten all about him, she didn't want to say anything to him just yet. she did not hate him but he always gave her a reason to treat him badly, she couldn't deal with him at the moment as she could feel herself smelling the same scent which she hated.
She stepped into the shower in her cloth as water poured on them, washing off the blood stains that were on it before she removed them completely, tossing them into the bin and having a thorough bath from head to toe.
While she was in the shower Sky walked into the room dropping off the bottle of whiskey and the files on the Davison as she requested, he couldn't help but feel irritated seeing Klaus sleeping on the couch, he took a few steps to him, giving him a hard slap on the back which made him spring up from his slumber.
" What was that for?" He said as his eyes met Sky
" Your master is here, she asked you to wait for her and not to come here to get some sleep." Sky words made him roll his eye, what did he expect from her loyal dog.
" How could you be sleeping here when you know you're in trouble?"
" I fell asleep because she was taking too long to arrive" Klaus explained..
" You are nothing but ungrateful and disrespectful in an addition, would it kill for you to obey her orders for once in your pathetic existence
" For one, that's why I'm still here. If I was disrespectful as you're saying, I wouldn't have entered this room in the first place, loyal dog" he voiced
" What did you just call me?"
" I called you a loyal dog, you have no identity than what she designs for you" he said with no fear.
Sky had about just enough from Klaus, he clutched his hand into a fist, just about to throw a punch.
" Sky!" Kanaan called out, she was wearing a ash colored rope with her hair dripping wet.
" I can handle this from here, you leave" she added walking towards the table where the bottle of whiskey was.
She opened it pouring it carefully into the glass beside it.
Sky gave Klaus a warning glare before turning to Kanaan, he gave a bow in respect before leaving. She watched him leave then took her attention to Klaus.
" Who is the new employee?" Were all that came out of her mouth as she grabbed the file from the table and off towards the couch, she sat opposite Klaus, with her legs crossed. Klaus gave no reply.
" I'm listening" she reminded the quiet Klaus, who didn't give her a reply that she was still waiting for.
" He's a new staff"
" Do I look stupid to you I asked you a question, who is the new employee, I expect an elaborate answer"
" He's name is Mile Davis"
" Hmm" the sound left her lips as she opened the file and flipped through the pages,
" He came looking for a job and I employed him because Adrian and Emily couldn't handle the morning rush alone, it was becoming difficult for them" he explained confidently
" Interesting, And you made this decision without letting me be aware of it?"
" I thought it wasn't relevant, because I was the one in charge of the cafe"
" But I own you don't I? It's only logical you report each event to me" she spoke softly lifting her head from the documents
" You don't own me, I only owe you money and nothing more" Klaus pointed out with a frown plastered on his face.
Kanaan let out a soft chuckle she found it funny " you're unbelievable, are you aware the money you owe me is worth more than your life? even if I kill it would be a waste" She asked raising her eyebrows,
" And I'm paying for it, am I not?"
" You're correct but you still have a long way to go"
" I will pay every last cent no matter how long it takes"
" This one thing I admire about you… confidence and determination, you know how to put me in a mood but luckily for you today, I'm not going to do anything to you" she said taking a sip for her glass of wine.
" May I leave now?"
" Do you want to know why? you must be curious"
" No, I don't want to know your reason" he answered not minding the consequence
" Ever since the day you came here, you've always been this way and you'll never learn, I really don't have anything to say to you" she sipped the wine once more " but you're going to still be punished, you had no right to employ anyone without letting me know about it first. If you needed more hands I would have gotten you that. You are aware the cafe isn't a normal place where normal people are being employed.
The cafe has strict policies and you of all people know that more than anybody else but you helped me to bring closer something I thought I will take a longer time to find, your punishment won't be so harsh.
You are banded from the cafe for 4 months and you'll be confined to the walls of your room just like you loved before, I'm sure the colors will bring back your senses.
You can leave and send Evan up" she added as she watched him walk away, he left without a single word of argument.
Kanaan picked up a picture that caught her attention as she looked through the file - Miles Davis,
" You're much dumber than I thought… you came to me with your very own legs me" she said with a grin plastered on her face.

" What happened" Evan asked in concern for Klaus as he set his eyes on him
" She wants you up" he replied ignoring his previous question
" Klaus!" Evan held his hand " Tell me what she said, I can get her to change her mind"
" Get your hands off me, I don't want your help" he said pulling his hands away from Evan
" I have no idea how you all are comfortable living your lives in this manner, I don't want to live like that with you" he added before walking away ..
" Why do you bother?" Sky asked
" That's because he's in love with Klaus" a voice spoke
" Would you shut it, I'm just concerned" Evan answered
" you are right, why aren't you concerned about me or Sky in that way?"
" That's because you both are well behaved but your dumbness adds to it as well"
" Oh wow, you're now throwing shades right at my face'
" Whatever" he scoffed before walking off
" He is in love with Klaus!"
" Would you drop it already, he said he wasn't" Sky voiced before going back on his phone
" I'm always the one who talks nonsense, nothing good ever happens these days" the same voice added
" I have an idea on how it could get interesting"
" Ohh goody tell me, I'm down'
" How about you trying to break out of here? that would be exciting” Sky said
" Wow, just wow. I'm amazed at your love for me, I said I want something interesting to happen not breathtaking. I'm not ready to stop breathing just yet".
