TWWSF 2: The Fiancée

Shandra POV

"I think that's my seat!"

Those are exactly the words that came out of her mouth. I stare at her amused by what she said and I almost burst out laughing with her guts.

"You're something, aren't you?" I said with a mischievous smile. But she didn't falter. She stands there and gawks at me. I shrugged my shoulder and look at my friends. My eyebrows raised with their reaction. Ember and Haven both bit their lips and look at me as if pleading with me to stop. I can tell that Vash and Ash are slightly nervous about what I'm going to do. Ace and Laxus, it seems like they are anticipating something worst to happen. Am I that bad?

I shook my head in disbelief but they didn't utter a single word. They just keep on giving me a meaningful look. What the heck? And why should I give in with the whims of Chase fiancée? This seat is mine originally.

I turned to her still standing there. We are starting to get the attention that I hated so much. "Don't see any names printed here, that means no one owns this seat, sweetheart," I give her a sweet smile.

"The seat beside you usually occupied by my fiancé, naturally I would sit beside him," she stubbornly said.

"Oh? My bad! But I won't let anybody sit in my place," I replied not planning to give in.

Napakunot-noo siya. "You came in the middle of our engagement party last week. Who are you?"

I can hear everyone gasp and my friends muttering a series of explicit words. I glared at them to make them stop. I stand up and take a few steps towards her.

"I forgot to formally introduce myself. The name is Shandra. Shandra Bethany Davies. And in case you wanted to know, I am the leader of Black Angels, I am known as SnowFlash or SF. And these two guys here are my members," I pointed to Ace and Laxus. I then offer my hands to her.

She accepted my hands. "I am Hil----"

I cut her off, "You're Chase's fiancée, Hilary Breena Lee." I leaned to her ear and whispered, "daughter of one of the heads of Triad."

I smile as I let go of her hand and look at her shocked face. Before she can compose herself I already plopped down back in my seat with a smirk plastered on my face.

"What did you do?" Haven asks in a whisper while giving a glance to the girl that stands there motionless.

"Nothing," patay malisya na sabi ko sabay kibit-balikat

"You!" Breena hissed.

Binalingan ko siya at nakita ang masamang tingin niya sa akin. Napataas ang sulok ng labi ko sa pagkakalukot ng mukha niya sa tindi ng galit. Pakiramdam ko ay umuusok na ang ilong niya.

"Oops! I only said the truth. Why? Are you afraid that everyone will know?" I taunted her with my sweetest smile.

"You b***h!" She shouted.

I frown. "What did you say?"

"You want me to repeat it? I said you're a b***h," she mocks.

I smiled without humor. I'm pissed off and my mind started to become blurred of any good reason not to hit her in the face for calling me a b***h. How dare her!

"You really called me a b***h, huh? And what about you? What exactly you call yourself for doing a stunt as you did? Want me to spill to everyone here your little secret? That won't make any less of me since you already called me names," I said in a threatening voice and wait for her next move. She raised her hands to slap me. But before I can stop her, someone grabs her hands for me.

"What do you think you're doing?" Chase said looking at her grimly. He had a disappointed look on his face while looking at Breena.

"Are you alright?" He asks me full of concern while still holding the hands of his fiancée.

"Yeah!" I shrug my shoulder and return to my seat.

"Chase, I'm your fiancée yet you are concerned about her?" Breena whined.

"You're making a scene, Breena. C'mon, let's have a sit." Chase said seriously without minding his fiancée's whines.

"But she's sitting with my supposed to be seat."

"There's a lot of empty seats. Quit being ridiculous over a small matter." Chase motion Breena in a seat beside Vash.

She didn't move and look at Chase while eyeing the people at the table.

"Ever since I came here, you never allowed me to occupy that seat beside where you usually sit. I didn't say a word. When we finally got engaged I thought you will allow me but then, not. Again, I didn't say a single word. And now, she just came and then all of a sudden take that seat. And you freely allowed her? All of you? Why?" She raised her voice.

I feel glad to know that they didn't allow anyone to sit in my seat while I'm gone. Parang gusto kong maiyak sa tuwa na ganon na lang nila ako kung pahalagahan. Sa kabila ng lahat ng ginawa ko at nangyari.

Chase sigh in frustration. "She---"

I cut him off by simply saying, "This is originally my place so it just right that I am sitting here."

"What?"

"Please Breena, stop it already," Ember quietly said. Nakuha na ring magsalita ng isa sa kanila. Well, I can see amusement dancing in the boys' eyes.

"Yeah, quit making a scene already, Breena, and sit. Everyone is enjoying watching us, you know?" Haven rolls her eyes. She doesn't change. Still the feisty Haven I know. Laxus drapes his arms around Haven's shoulder protectively. Paano ba naman, tiningnan lang naman ng masama ni Breena si Haven. Napangiti ako sa ipinapakitang kilos ni Laxus.

"I can't believe this," Breena said in frustration and took the seat that Chase ushered her into.

I choose to keep silent while she keeps whining. I can't help but be amused by her reaction and her guts. She doesn't really care if she's getting the attention of everyone in the cafeteria.

Chase took the seat beside her. And we all started eating in silence not minding the meaningful stares from our colleagues. Who wouldn't? If you are seeing the fiancée and the ex-girlfriend at one table?

It used to be me. Dati ako lagi ang katabi niya at inasikaso sa pagkain. And in return, sinisiguro ko na makakain siya ng maayos. Dati sa akin lang ang buong atensyon niya.

But now, it's not me anymore. May iba na siyang dapat pagtuunan ng pansin. May iba na siyang katabi at may iba ng nag-aasikaso sa kanya. Hindi ko maiwasang matuon sa kanila ang aking pansin habang inaasikaso ni Breena si Chase. Though he was not smiling as he used to every time I do that to him but he still let her. Well, she has every right to do so.

Nagsalubong ang paningin namin ni Chase ng mapatingin siya sa direksyon ko. He may be noticed that I was looking at him. I look down and drop my spoon and pork.

"I lost my appetite," I said with a sigh and stand up from my seat. "Bring Haven and Ember in the HQ after school, Lax. We will be having a sleepover there." I nod with the others and walk away. I can't take it any longer, being around Chase with another girl.

Chase POV

I feel a kick in my chest seeing the flicker of sadness and hurt in Shandra's eyes when she left. I'm not sure if the others saw it or if it was just my imagination. Baka naipagkamali ko lang ang nararamdaman ko dahil iniisip ko na ganun din ang nararamdaman ni Shandra.

Sinundan ko siya ng tanaw habang papalabas ng cafeteria. I can't help it. I miss her so much but I have to contained and control myself. I can't show my affection anymore, as long as I am stuck with this madness.

"It's a good thing she was gone." Narinig ko na sabi Breena. Nakaismid niyang sinundan ng tanaw ang papalayong pigura ni Shandra. Napapa-iling naman siyang tiningnan ng mga lalaki habang tinaasan ng kilay nina Haven at Ember. She snapped at them when she noticed. "What?"

Haven sigh and look at me. "Pakisabi diyan sa fiancée mo Chase na matuto siyang lumugar, okay?"

Ember nodded in agreement. "Yeah, hindi ko gustong dumating ang oras na papatulan ko siya."

The two girls talk at me like that as if Breena wasn't beside me. Agad nilang tinapos ang pagkain at sinundan si Shandra. Tipunan ako ni Breena ng nagtatanong na tingin sa inaasta ng dalawang babae. The girls are usually polite with Breena, as she is with them. But in an instant, they have a rift just because Shandra is back. I can't blame them for acting like that. They're Shandra's close friends after all.

"Just understand them, Chase." Laxus tapped my shoulder.

"I know, Lax." I give him a small nod.

"Mauna na din kami," Ace said to no one in particular.

Vash and Ash silently nodded and choose to stick to me. Umalis na ang dalawa para sundan ang dalawang babaeng naunang umalis. And maybe to find Shandra too. Tumigil na din ako sa pagkain, pumikit at bahagyang hinilot ang sentido ko. Hindi ko alam kung hanggang kailan ko matitiis ang ganitong sitwasyon. Being with the girl I didn't love and the girl I love is just around. Alam ko na hindi ko siya pwedeng iwasan at ganoon din siya sa akin.

"Why are you so silent, Chase?"

Napaangat ako ng mukha ng marinig ko ang boses ni Breena. Napatingin ako sa kanya at sinalubong ang nagdududa niyang tingin. Hilary Breena Lee, my fiancée, we are engaged a week ago. The day Shandra is back and free. The girl I promised to take care of and marry. The girl that binds me to her because of the promise that I carelessly made. If I didn't promise that thing I wouldn't be here now, stuck and hurting. But I can't go back to my words, for I owe them my life.

I stand up from my seat. "Follow me, Bree, we have to talk," I said in a very low voice. Dinala ko siya sa may bungad ng Dark Forest, sa lugar na bihirang puntahan ng mga estudyante. I don't want other people to hear us.

"What happened, Bree? Why the sudden outburst?" I started. I notice that she firmly held her hands in a ball. Her hand is slightly shaking.

"Who is she, Chase? Why did she know who am I? Why did she knew that I am part of the Triad?" She asked in a shaky voice with a hint of fear.

"She is the girl that you don't want to mess with, Bree. She is the girl you don't wish to be an enemy," I answered without looking at her.

"Then why? Only you knew that I am my father's daughter. And the reason why we have to get married. How come she seems to know?"

"There's no keeping of secret to her, Bree. I'm sorry but she knows it from the start. She already knew even before she showed up that night at the party."

"I don't trust her, Chase. She even threatened me," She said grimly.

"She won't harm you. But please, stay away from her bad side. Don't provoke her or anything. Also, don't try anything that will make my friends mad at you. They may be nice and all but their loyalty will always be to Shandra."

"That b***h!" She murmured with gritted teeth.

I frowned hearing what she said and the tempered that I've been controlling exploded. "She's not a b***h!" I said in an angry voice and I can't help but look at her menacingly. I grab her shoulder and look her in the eye. "You don't know her. And if I heard you say that again you will have to face me."

"C-Chase, I-I'm h-hurting," She stuttered.

I immediately let go and turn my back on her trying to calm myself. I can't believe I lost control. I acted like a total idiot and a jerk. Nahilamos ko ang palad ko aking mukha at napabuga ng hangin sa matinding frustration na nadama ko.

"You promise to take care of me, Chase," wika niya sa garalgal na boses.

Hindi ako lumingon pero sinagot ko ang sinabi niya, "and I'm keeping that damn promise."

"I thought you really care for me. It seems that I am wrong," she said almost in a whisper.

Hindi ko nagawang magreact agad sa sinabi niya. "I owe you my life, Bree. I promised to marry and take care of you. Because that's what your father asked in return. And I assure you that I will stay true to my words. Yes, I did care for you but there will be no more than that. I never did say that there will be a possibility that I will fall for you in the process." I paused and turn to look at her again. She was on the ground, she may be slumped by my drastic move. "So, if you are starting to fall. Please stop, you will just get hurt in end."

"Why?" Her eyes are now brimming in tears. "Why, Chase? Why will you forbid me to love you?"

"Let's drop this now, Bree. It's already time for class." I said looking at my watch and trying not to answer her question.

"Answer me first, damn it!" She's now sobbing.

I squat in front of her and look directly into her eye. "I already give my heart to someone else, Bree. I already promise to love her and do everything for her. And just like my promise of marrying you, I also cannot take back my word even if she already set me free. My heart, my love will always belong to her no matter what. And I will continue loving her in my own way."

"Who is she?" She asks after a few seconds of silence.

Tumayo ako at tumingin sa malayo. "There's no need for you to know who she is. C'mon, let's go back." Nagsimula na akong maglakad habang nakasuksok sa bulsa ng jeans ko ang aking mga kamay subalit hindi ko naramdaman ang kanyang pagsunod.

"You may love someone else but still it is me that you're going to marry, don't forget that." Wika niya sa matigas na boses.

"You don't have to worry about that, I am keeping my word. I'll always remember that it is you, Breena who is my fiancée."

Yeah, you're my fiancee but I doubt you can be more than that. I'm sorry, Breena.

I small smile tugged my lips but it is a bitter smile.
