The Beginning
She wanted so bad to be rid of the place she was born in. The place that caused all her doubts about herself, the place with horrible people, the place where her beloved parents met their deaths on the cliffs on a stormy night above the ocean that claimed their souls.
Born Aradia Luna Saunders, in the town of Cannon Beach, Oregon, to her parents Lilith and John Saunders, Ara was a woman of power, not the business power everyone thinks of, she didn’t have much money, just enough to get by, she was born a child of the moon just like her mother, a white witch, a witch that seeks goodness and the power to heal, the power to wield all elements, her and her mother were a rare breed.
But they were the town laughingstock, her mother never used to care, “Let them talk moon baby.” She would say to her when she was younger, “People need a reason to feel better about themselves.” She would say. Ara hated the town that was full of bullies and people who would taunt or fear them simply for just being a gift of nature.
Then her parents had died in a freak accident, after that she quit using her magic, for most of her childhood life, they died when she was 10, she left the horrible town when she was 18, never to look back, leaving her aunt and uncles house, she loved the man and woman who took her in, for they were the only family she had. But they did not understand either, being from her father’s side of the family, they were the reasons she quit using her magic, it disturbed them, and she did not want to scare anyone, she did not want to be a freak anymore, she wanted her mother and father.
She would go to school and listening to the taunts and the mean words, she would take the hits when children threw s**t at her or food. No boys liked her, they tormented her also, except for one boy, Kevin Hayze, he never bullied her, in fact he would stop the bullying with his i***t friends and make them walk away, always giving her a sad pity filled look and a small smile.
She would ignore and move on with her life, she was not interested in friends. When graduation came, she had her diploma sent to her aunt’s house, so she did not have to attend when it did, she packed all of her things and she left her house, saying goodbye to her aunt and uncle, with only her mother’s small volks wagon beetle a few belongings and the money that was saved for her with the added-on money from the house she sold.
She was going to start a new life, go to college and to a place nobody knew of her magic, so she could practice freely without the scared looks of people. She fled to Florida, a city far away from Oregon. She grew up, she graduated college with a degree in marine biology. She loved the water and would always vow to love it, but she still was not happy.
8 years later she decided to move back, after the passing of her uncle, her aunt needed her help, she had the money and the means to open her little coven shop, and she was at the stage now that she did not give two shits about what people thought, she was going to live her life back in her hometown, she would practice her magic, and she would be happy.
She left everything behind, her boyfriend, their house, her whole life in Florida, to move back to the home she ran so far from. She knew deep down that the moon was calling her back, back to her past, back to face the heartbreak, back to her parents, and when the moon called to her, she answered.
