"Can I get you something to eat or drink?" "Mom?" asked Angela.
It was so obvious that Angela was on the positive side of my mom. A very rare connection to find. My mom barely liked people, no matter how impressive they were.
"I need to head home." Angela refused the drink. "Maybe next time, Ms. Daniels. I will take two cups of coffee to redeem denying it. "
"Promises are made to be kept, young lady. So you will definitely keep it the moment I see you here again. " My mom seriously joked
"I will, I promise. Have a great night, Kat. " Angela said goodnight to both of us through my name.
"Good night." I responded.
I showed her out to her car.
"Thanks for the evening," I said.
"Your presence was better company." She smiled. "Bye."
I headed into the house. My mom was seated at the table, eagerly waiting for gossip.
"She is weird, right?" My mom argued.
"She is a lesbian mom." I headed up the stairs into my room.
In a few minutes, after much thought about what I had said , my mom headed into my room.
"She is a lesbian?" she asked.
"Yeah... I told you already."
"Wasn't that a poor thought?"She said
Looking all surprised, I asked her.
"Is it okay with you if I hang around with a lesbian?"
"Yeah, I am okay with it. She is good company; they always don't lie, did you know? " She insinuated
"Goodnight, mom. I have school tomorrow. "
"Please bring her back next time," she seriously asked. "Good night. Wow. "
The next morning turned out better. I had my breakfast early as always. For me, Friday was the best day of the week. full of practical work and the quickest day ever.
I had my bag packed well, tagged into my cheer-leading uniform and headed to school.
James was back to his normal self after a few hours of being left by himself. I was walking down the hall when he bumped into me from behind.
"Hey, how was your coffee date with Shorty? I saw you guys left early from class. " He enthusiastically asked.
"Well, I thought you were hanging out with the bot of the school. What happened? " I questioned him too.
"Well. She is nothing compared to you. Maybe I love getting insulted more than pampered, you know. " James chuckled. "Tell me about you and Angela already."
"We didn't go for a coffee date." I started.
"What? "You party pooper. James growled.
"Would you let me finish your sucker?" I blended. "She took me to her place. Well, not really her place, but this amazing warehouse she owns and showed me her work. "
"How was it?" is the question, Kat. Answer the damn question, punk. " He put pressure on my arm.
"It was okay. It was fine. I replied in the pain of having him press my tiny finger. as I pulled away. "That's what I hate about you, James."
We walked towards the lockers. I put a few things into the locker, hurriedly heading to the field. Angela bumped into me from the front. She never looked at me or said sorry, and it made me mad, so I went to talk to her.
"Hey, what's with you?" I confronted her.
She didn't reply to anything, but she kept sniffing. I had never seen her cry. Never, I walked close to her as she kept struggling to open her own locker.
"What's wrong?" I eagerly asked
"Nothing." She sniffed. Her tears couldn't help falling.
"Come with me." I picked up her hand.
"I said nothing is wrong." She yelled at me.
"Now listen to me, young lady. You might be whatever you think you are, but I am also persistent. So you come with me now. " I pulled her into the bathroom.
I managed to get her a seat, then I sat next to her. I can't stand people crying.
"Know what, Angela?" You may not want to tell me a thing about what troubles you now, but you should know I want to help either way. " I confirmed. "I just don't like it when people cry."
"Or you just don't like it when I cry?" She insinuated
"Even when you're angry, you're still annoying."
"Look, Kat. My parents took a loan from the bank and mortgaged my house. The house my grandparents left me And now.. the bank is taking it right now. I have no where to stay. I have no home. And worse, my mom and dad both disappeared last night. She chuckled in tears. "Those two scam bags..." I am so angry and scared. "
"Oh my God!" was all I could say. I couldn't feel her pain. Not even close. It was a lot to take in. "Look, you can stay at my place. I know my mom wouldn't mind. "
"No... that's embarrassing," she replied.
"No... what's embarrassing is me leaving you alone. Who knows where? Are you coming with me? I talk to my mom. "
"Thank you," she said with a smile.
I picked her up and we headed to class. By the end of school time, she was already back to her normal self and well composed. I went up to her table, closed her textbook and carried her bag.
"Let's go," I said.
She picked up her strength and followed me to her car. " This is pathetic," she claimed.
"Well, pathetic is my favorite. Now drive. " I commanded, and it felt great.
I could see the pain right through her, even when she smiled. I left her in the car to go speak to my mom.
She was resting on the coach, and when I opened the door, she hurriedly woke up.
Did I forget to pick you up, darling? Oh God, I am so sorry. " "Ouch," she said after hitting her head on the table.
"It's nothing, mom. I just need to talk to you. "
"What's its honey?" She settled.
"Well... Angela needs a place to stay. Her parents left her and mortgaged the house too. "
"What! Who does that to their child? " She opened her eyes wide. After much thought, she agreed. " Tell her she is welcome to stay anytime and remind her about the two coffees too."
