Edward had picked Bella up for some kind of picnic, she had glared and mouthed threats at him before they left. Rhea had a feeling that he had been glad that she had been there when he picked Bella up.
Glad that someone would know where he was taking her sister and when they would be back. Edward didn’t know that she could rip him limp to limp, but he did know about the Achilles Curse and that he could do nothing to her unless he found her weak point by accident.
Like he would go for her eye of all things.
It was the reason she picked it.
Edward also told them that Alice had seen a change in the weather around the afternoon, she had a feeling that the weather was easier to prodict than people were.
What was going on? Rhea thought when she heard knocking on the front door. Charlie wasn’t home and had done fishing for the afternoon.
She had just finished doing the dishes, Bella would be annoyed at her, but Rhea had finished her homework and was bored.
“Jacob, Billy,” Rhea greeted after opening the door, her hand tightening around the day knob, “Charlie’s not here at the moment nor is Bella. I can give them a message if you would like... and why can I smell fish?”
“I’m just here to drop something odd,” Billy said.
Rhea moved to the side to allow Jacob to wheel Billy into the living room, she closed the door before following them.
“Harry Clearwater made some fish fry for Charlie, the fridge keeps it drier,” Billy said.
“Charlie will like this; he’s out fishing, said he found a new spot,” Rhea said accepting the brown paper bag before quickly putting it in the fridge and returning.
Charlie like dfish, but Rhea couldn’t find it in herself to eat a creature she could talk to.
Rhea might not know the reason why Billy and Jacob were really rhere, but she had a feeling it had something to do with the Cullen family and the giant wolves running around La Push. Maybe, the amount of time they had been spending with them during and after school hours.
Small towns will be small towns.
Rhea shouldn’t be surprised that Billy already knew about.
“Jake, why don’t you get the picture of the twins for me? From the car,” Billy asked.
Jacob looked between them, nodding and disappearing outside.
“Rhea, Charlie is my best friend and Bella is like another daughter to me,” Billy said, “I don’t want them in danger.”
“You know they’re safe, the Cullen family doesn’t drink human blood and that’s the only reason the treaty exists and before you ask, I already know about the giant wolves running around the forest,” Rhea said, “and no, Jacob didn’t tell us. It helps that I can flip Emmett onto the table.”
“Does Charlie know about them?” Billy asked.
“No, it’s dangerous for him to know. It might be dangerous for Bella to know for reasons unknown,” Rhea admitted.
Billy stared at her.
Rhea crossed her arms.
“But I had already told Bella,” Rhea said.
“Straight to the point,” Billy said.
“I’ve fought in two wars and monsters that would hunt down your little wolf protectors for shits and giggles,” she admitted.
“Pardon?” he asked.
“I’m not human either, I’m a demigod, a Greek and Roman demigod,” Rhea said, “I don’t drink blood if you’re going to ask, but I fought both the Titans and Gaia’s army before I was seventeen.”
“Charlie doesn’t know that, does he?”
“Many don’t. Few can see through the Mist.”
“Mist?”
“Hides things from the mortal eye.”
Billy stared at her.
Rhea could feel her temper raising, meaning that it started raining. Both Billy and Rhea looked at the door when Jacob walked back into the house.
“I couldn’t find the picture,” Jacob said looking between the two, “is something wrong?”
“Must have left them at home,” Billy said.
“Great, I missed something,” Jacob said.
“You have missed nothing,” Rhea said shrugging.
“You’ll know when you’re older,” Billy said, “we should get going.”
Jacob pushed Billy out of the house.
Putting her head in her hands, Rhea could only wonder if it could get worse.
“Good afternoon Charlie, how are you?” Rhea asked.
Charlie walked in, putting his gun on the side table.
“Billy was over before, brought over fish fry. It’s in the fridge.”
“Harry Clearwater?”
“The very one.”
“My favourite.”
“Bella was running out of ways to prepare fish.”
“Dad, Rhea,” Bella greeted walking through the door with a grin on her face.
Rhea was glad that she was happy as she sat down next to her.
“The Cullen’s are having a game tonight, they’re gonig to play baseball.”
“Edward’s here?” Rhea asked.
Bella patting her shoulder.
Rhea following her towards their bedroom.
Bella grinned before throwing a bag at her.
Rhea looked into the bag, spotting jeans, a blue shirt and a long jacket in a shape of flowly dress.
Bella pulling out a similar outfit, but with a green shirt and puffy black water proof jacket.
“Edward’s here and Jasper,” Bella said.
Rhea closed the curtain before getting undressed, pausing to stare at Bella.
“Jasper?” Rhea asked, “Alice isn’t here?”
“No. Jasper and Edward are talking to Charlie in the living room,” Bella said, “Jasper wants to see if you can come as well. Edward can’t carry both of us.”
“Wear a few more layers, it’s going to get cold,” Rhea said pulling out a pair of leggings to put under her jeans and a singlet.
Staring at Bella when she didn’t say anything.
She looked like someone asked her to jump out of an airplane.
“What’s wrong, Bells? You’re nervous about something?” Bella asked.
“We went back to their house to pick up Jasper, along with getting Emmett’s off-road truck after Alice called Edward about the storm,” Bella said rocking on her heels.
Rhea raised an eyebrow.
“But we’ll still be running some of the way,” Bella added.
“Doesn’t seem too bad,” Rhea said.
“Rhea we’ll be running part of the way,” Bella said.
“And?” Rhea asked, she could see that Bella was getting slightly frustracted.
“You’ve never done it before,” Bella said.
“Says who? Jasper and Alice had to pull my and Apollo’s asses out of a collapsing cave, if they hadn’t well, I would have been fine,” Rhea admitted, “Apollo might not have been, we would have been without a Greek Sun God. They would have given the role back to Helios.”
Bella stared at her.
Rhea was sure that had been part of her story, she could only stare at her sister.
“I felt sick last time,” Bella admitted.
“Just keep your eyes close, feel the wind in your hair, it’s quite freeing,” Rhea said pulling out two of her bronze bracelets, the watch that Tyson had given her, along with golden necklaces that Jason had given her after the Giant War.
A smaller coin than his own at the end, she could pull it off and it would turn into a sword or spear. She also placed Riptides comb into a bun.
“I’m going to throw up,” Bella said paling, “and someone will show up to the game covered in vomit.”
“If you do that,” Rhea said picking up a chocker like necklace.
Waving her hand at Bella before putting it on her
“Aim at Edward, give me and Emmett a merry laugh.”
“Deal,” Bella said tracing the chocker along her neck with her pointer finger, “what’s with the chocker.”
“It’ll block your scent, Hecate made it to stop demigods from being sniffed out by monsters,” Rhea said, “Greek, Egyptian and more.”
“Useful,” Bella said.
“Very.”
“How many people have this?”
“It was given up mostly younger children, a chance to have a normal childhood without being hunted.”
Bella nodded before getting dressed.
Rhea made sure her bun wouldn’t come apart, before shrugging and pulling into a high ponytail instead. It wouldn’t come apart from the speed that Jasper and Edward ran out.
Bella laughing into her hand.
Rhea looked at her before putting the comb back.
“We should save Edward and Jasper from Charlie before he gets one of his shotguns,” Rhea said.
Bella coughed into her hand before following her out of the room.
“Jasper, Edward. How are you two?” Rhea asked walking down the stairs.
“I’m good,” Jasper said.
“Edward and I had a pleasant picnic,” Bella said standing next to Rhea.
Charlie looked between the two.
“You two will need a scarf,” Charlie said.
“Don’t own one,” Rhea admitted.
Charlie looked at them before disappearing into the kitchen before returning with two scarfs that looked like they were homemade.
“My parnter’s grandmother made this for you two,” he said.
“Oh, thank her for us,” Rhea said wrapping one of them around her neck.
Bella following shortly afterwards.
“Now you gentleman, will have mu daughter’s back before midnight,” Charlie said, “or I’ll have to use my shotgun on you two.”
Jasper and Edward nodding their heads.
“Dad,” Bella said.
“We’ll see you before midnight then,” Rhea said smiling.
Charlie glared at Jasper and Edward.
“I’m sure Carlisle and Esme won’t want their children to be out that long either,” Rhea added.
