Rhea watched the ball disappeared between Jasper and Alice, throwing it faster and faster. Becoming little more than a blur, Rhea sitting on a cooler that Esme had brought with her.
She and Jasper had arrived before Bella and Edward did, which she had a feeling that something to do with her just letting Jasper pick her up without causing any fuss, closing her eyes and placing her head against Jasper’s shoulder.
Turning her head, she spotted Edward and Bella, which made her wish she could read lips, since it looked like they were arguing with each other. She didn’t know if she needed someone to step between them.
“Why do I feel like I’m going to be tempted to yeet Edward off the nearest cliff,” Rhea said.
“As long as I can watch,” Emmett said walking towrds her, it would seem that he had learnt from what happened if he randomly appeared behind her when she flipped onto the cafeteria table for the second time.
“You want to watch me throw Edward off a cliff?” Rhea asked.
“You’re a strange one,” Rhea said grinning, “I like you, you’re my fourth favourite Cullen.”
“Who are the first three?” Emmett asked.
“Esme, Alice and Jasper,” Rhea replied.
“Thank you little sister,” Emmett said grinning catching the baseball that Rhea threw at him, walking towards Rosalie.
Edward showing up a second later.
Bella walking towards her.
“Bells, did you throw up?” Rhea asked Bella.
Bella coughed into her hand.
Rhea looked at Edward, trying to see if there was any mess on his clothing or if he smelled.
“He doesn’t smell like puke nor do you, so I’m going to with no,” Rhea said, “see Bells? Knew you would be fine.”
“For all you know, he hid his jacket before catching up or went back to the car to change,” Bella said.
Rhea stared at her.
She didn’t know the reason Edward would need to hide his jacket and she looked at him to see if he had indeed changed his clothing.
“Edward threw me over his shoulder, his skin feel more like stone than yours does,” Bella said.
“You must of felt like a bag of flour, you should ha e thrown up,” Rhea said before scolding Edward, “Edward you should know better than putting pressure on someone’s stomach.”
Rhea glared at Edward, one of the annoying things about them is that they didn’t have enough water in their bodies for her to control, she would have to concentrate more more to get anything done, since the only water in their bodies they had in their bodu was from the blood they drank.
“You might want to help set up, before I get any ideas, Edward,” Rhea said.
“Was that you we heard before Edward?” Esme asked walking next to Rhea.
“Sounded like a chocking bear,” Emmett added in his bomming voice.
She was sure that any campers would have heard him and gone the other way.
“That was him,” Bella said grinning at Rhea.
Edward playfully glaring at her before going to help Carlisle set up.
Rhea might now have known much about baseball, but even she could tell that it was larger than a normal setup.
If she didn’t know better, she would have called them showoffs, but then, the Roman demigods did the same thing with their war games.
She was sure that a few members from the Legion had hoined the American Army out of boredom and Rhea couldn’t help but wonder how many of them passed away in active duty.
“It’s time,” Alice said.
A second later Rhea could hear lightning and thunder in the distance, Rhea glanced at it.
Because Poseidon help them if Zeus thought it was a good idea to use her as target pratice. Then again, it could be Thor, but he was busy racking up steps throughout the seven realms.
She preferred Thor over Zeus since Thor cared little for her. Outside of battle against Loki and the ship of the dead and she didn’t see Zeus watching the Cullen’s baseball game, nor would Thor if she thought about it.
As if Zeus would have time between cheating on Hera and finding more people to have s*x with.
“You don’t play with them?” Bella asked Esme.
Rhea, Bella and Esme were walking towards the edge of the clearing, never mind that she and Esme could catch any stray balls before they hit Bella and caused any damage.
“No,” Esme said with a gentle smile, “I prefer to referee, you should see some of the fights they could get into. It’s like they were raised by a pack of wolves.”
“That must be a task with Edward, Alice and Jasper’s talents,” Rhea said pausing and looking at them, “can’t really see Jasper cheating in a game.”
“They all cheat,” Esme said before telling Bella and Rhea about her baby, how she had jumped off a cliff in her greif.
She made anote to talk to Nico about finding Esme’s baby and asking her Mum, Sally, to look after them.
“Rhea, has Jake given you a phone yet?” Bella asked.
Rhea looked at her like she had grown another head.
“No,” Rhea replied, “Leo has more of a chance of getting away with dropping another cement block on my head.”
“Why he would do that?” Bella asked.
“He thought it was funny to test the limits of the Achilles Curse,” Rhea said, “he still wants to.”
“And you’re fine with that?”
“As long as it doesn’t lead to another near-war between Camp Half-blood and Camp Jupiter?” Rhea asked, “no, not really. It’s annoying is what it is, it pisses Nico off and he does when Nico isn’t around.”
“Another one?” Esme asked.
Rhea realised that the game had started and that she could barely keep up with any of them.
“Oh, until a few years ago. Greeks and Romans have been killing each other for years, since Rome invaded Greece in face,” Rhea said, “it took until the American Civil for the Gods to step in and separate the two camps into different stares.”
Rhea hadn’t removed her gaze, even if she doubted she could watch a normal game after this. Not that shr cared about baseball one but, even if she couldn’t always follow what was happening.
Not that it mattered to her.
“Alice?” Esme asked.
Alice dropped the ball in her hand.
Rhea cursed to herself for not bringing along Mrs O’Leary’s whistle with her. She should have brought it, since she had a feeling that she would need weapons.
“I didn’t see it, I couldn’t tell,” Alice said appearing next to Rhea with concern on her face, “they changed their decision after they heard us playing.”
“They want to join,” Rhea realised standing up, “the necklace Bella is wearing should hide her scene, but there’s nothing we can do about our heartbeats.”
“Was wondering why I couldn’t smell her,” Alice added.
“Hecate’s magic is strong,” Rhea said.
“Do we have time?” Edward asked.
“We have five minutes,” Alice said.
“I’ll stay near Bella, Esme and I should be able to defend Bella,” Rhea said.
Edward stared at her when she showed her bracelets off.
“All of them turn into weapons,” Rhea explained, “if they work on Werewolves, they’ll work on Vampires.”
“How many?” Emmett asked Alice.
“Three,” Alice replied.
Rhea took Bella’s hand into her own, pulling to sit down next to her.
The others were whispering to each other, everyone was tense and when they went back to playing. Esme was closer to them than before.
Rhea noticed that they weren’t hitting as hard as they were before.
Even Rhea kept touching Riptide’s comb.
It should work on Vampires.
Rhea’s eyes widened when she spotted three figures appeared on the other side of the field.
Alice took her hand into her own and she was gently pulled behind Jasper, while she could see that Bella was behind Emmett and next to Edward.
Rhea could see many differences between the Cullen family and the three newbies in front of her. For one, their eyes were a bright red.
Rhea knew there was something wrong about the way they were standing.
Carlisle stood in front with Rosalie and Esme by his sides.
Rhea had to go back to the same mindset she had gained during the Giant and Titan War, but differnet, since she didn’t think they would want to slit her throat and spill her blood onto the earth’s alter.
They didn’t know who her fathers were, nor did she know they would care about their names.
The first male had light olive skin and dark hair, but he didn’t stand like a genuine leader, the two behind him were the ones that she knew she would need to monitor if she wanted to live.
If she wanted Bella to live.
The blonde male was in charge.
She narrowed her eyes at him.
He stood too much like Jason and Rhea did for her own comfort; they had been leading armies into the both wars, the same way Annabeth and Luke stood during the Titan War.
“Hello, we thought we heard a game,” the olive-skinned male said.
Rhea could hear a faint French-accent.
If she had to guess where he was from, then she would he was from the south of French, but she didn’t know how old he was or if hunted recently.
“I’m Carlisle,” Carlisle greeted, “and this is my gamily; Rosalie and Esme. Edward, Emmett, and Bella; along with Alice, Jasper and Rhea.”
“I’m Laurent and these are James and Victoria,” he said.
Rhea narrowed her eyes at James and Victoria.
Something about them made her go into the same stance she had learnt in New Rome, had learnt from both Hazel and Frank.
She wasn’t listening to Carlisle and Laurent’s conversation since the next thing she knew James was crouvhing down.
Rhea raised her hand, a wall of water appearng behind the three before going around them. She didn’t know if it would stop them, but it would slow them down.
The wall was made out of small droplets.
“You brought a snack?” Laurent asked.
“She’s with us,” Carlisle said.
“But she’s human,” he said.
Rhea almost scoffed at the notion, it was better if they didn’t know she wasn’t completely human or else they might hunt down the rest of her follow demigods and that was one war she didn’t need to start.
“She is,” Emmett said.
Rhea looked at him briefly to see how amused he was by the whole thing.
Looking back, she could see James was getting crouch and she could tell that he was planning something.
Something that she needed to be wary of.
“It would seem that we have much to learn about each other,” Laurent said.
“James is going to attack,” Edward said.
Rhea wrapped water around James.
She missed Victoria.
Increasing the pressure, she frooze the water.
Laurent just stared at her.
“You have to turn a vampire to ash,” Jasper said.
Rhea nodded and she closed her eyes, lowering the temperature of the ice to where it would catch on fire. She could hear Laurent screaming.
Opening her eyes, she could see that Laurent was on fire.
Edward was pulling Bella into a hug, covering her ears with his hand and chest.
Rhea could still the screams and Victoria was staring at her.
She disappeared from view.
Rhea looked at Alice.
Alice’s eyes glazed her eyes over, Rhea could tell tha tshe was looking into the future.
“She’s not coming back, is she?” Rhea asked.
Laurent and James’ ashes drifted in the wind, both were dead but she didn’t care about them. She was just glad they couldn’t hurt her sister.
“Not for now,” Alice said, “she’s planning something, but her future keeps changing and it might take a while for her to do something.”
“We should get going,” Rhea said hugging herself.
Alice hugged her a moment later.
“I agree,” Bella said.
“Alice, Jasper and I will stay with you tonight, make sure that Victoria doesn’t attack you in your sleep,” Edward said.
“Bella talks in her sleeo,” Rhea said, “but we should pass along this message to the giant wolves in the area, since you know you’re not allowed in La Push and I wouldn’t put it past Victoria to use that to her advantage when she realises.”
“I can talk to Billy,” Bella said.
“I can also talk to Nico, ask him to pass along the message to the rest of the camp... if she does near them, she won’t last long,” Rhea said, “I don’t want to use a phone, but I will if I have to.”
“You reallt don’t like phones,” Alice asked.
“I would rather not be attacked by a werewolf, for example, because of an emoji of all things. Then you see how fast you want to use one,” Rhea said, “Annabeth might have risked before Hephaestus’ kids made a phone... still don’t want one.”
“Nico might have dropped one off,” Bella said.
Edward picked her up, her head against his shoulders.
Closing her eyes, Jasper picked her up before following suit.
She could only wonder when Victoria would pop her ugly head up.
