Chapter 11

I gasped while looking at them. Tumakbo ako papunta kay Philip at humawak sa kanyang braso.

"Matagal ko nang nararamdaman na bantay-salakay ka talaga. And I'm right all along!" galit na sabi nito.

Nicholai wiped the side of his lips. Nasugatan pala ito sa suntok ni Philip. He looked at Philip and grinned.

"Isang suntok pa at sa ospital ang bagsak mo Aragon," may pagbabanta na sabi nito.

"Tingnan natin kung sino sa atin ang babagsak sa ospital, Acosta," galit na tugon ni Philip.

"Stop! Both you!" sigaw ko sa kanilang dalawa. "Get inside the house, Nicholai. Mag-uusap kami ni Philip."

I heard Nicholai scoffed. "I'll give you five minutes to talk," bago pa man ako makapagprotesta ay pumasok na ito sasakyan nito at pinasibad papasok sa loob ng gate.

I sighed and let go of Philip's arm. "Just go, Philip. Tapos na tayo."

"Ganun ba talaga kadali sa iyo na talikuran ang relasyon natin para lang sa lalaking yun?!" may diin na sabi nito sabay turo kung saan pumasok si Nicholai. Nakaigiting ang panga nito sa galit habang nakatitig sa akin.

I tried to remain my expression cold and emotionless and looked him in the eyes.

"Yes."

"Tell me. Hindi mo na ba talaga ako mahal?" I could see hope in his eyes. And I knew that what I was going to say would not just hurt him, but it would also hurt and devastate me.

"Yes. I don't love you anymore. If you love me. You should let me go, Philip. Please. Just let me go." I saw him smile and wiped the side of his eyes. At alam ko na hanggang dito na lang talaga kami. We may have loved each other, but we were not really meant to be together. And that was the sad truth.

"Okay. I give up. Sana maging masaya ka. Maging masaya kayo. Goodbye, Denima Cris." The last word that he said that made my heart shattered into pieces.

After 3 Months...

"Damn it, Nicholai! If you are not going with me just say it para di ako magmukhang tanga kakahintay sa loob ng bahay!" inis na sabi ko dito sa kabilang linya.

Medyo malaki na ang tiyan ko at schedule ng check-up ko ngayon. Nicholai insisted that he would go with me. But it was almost 9AM wala pa rin ito. He said that he would just finish his breakfast meeting. At tapos na ang meeting na iyon an hour ago.

[I'm sorry, Hon. Traffic kasi. Papasok na ako ng South Ridge. Be there in a minute,] malambing na sabi nito.

I sighed and sat on the couch. After what happened to me and Philip. I was devastated. Nicholai was with me. He was so patient. So I decided to accept Nicholai's offer. That we would try to be okay for the baby. I tried to be good with him for the sake of the baby. And so far, naging maganda naman ang kinalabasan.

Nicholai was really hands-on when it came to me. Mabait at maalaga ito. Hindi ito nagrereklamo kahit lagi ko itong sinusungitan. Kahit na anong gusto kong kainin ay hahanapin at bibilhin niya ito kahit pa hating-gabi na.

"Fine," sabi ko sabay baba ng tawag. I leaned my back at the couch and closed my eyes. Lagi na din akong inaantok. Minsan nakakatulog ako kahit na nanonood ng palabas. One time, nakatulog ako sa couch at naabutan ako ni Nicholai. He carried me to bed but scolded me the next day. Baka daw mahulog ako sa couch o kaya magkasakit sa lamig. He was being over-reacting Pinatigil niya din ako sa pagtatrabaho. Baka daw makasama sa baby. See? I didn't know that he was like that.

Napadilat ako sa gulat nang may humalik sa aking labi. I glared at Nicholai who was smiling in front of me. "Stop smiling. Naiinis ako sayo," padabog akong tumayo at naunang nagmartsa palabas. Sumunod naman agad ito sa akin at inakbayan ako.

"I'm sorry, okay? I didn't anticipate the traffic. It will not happen next time. Kasi sa susunod. Di na talaga ako papasok sa office."

"Dapat lang," ismid ko dito. He opened the car door for me at pumasok naman agad ako sa passenger seat. Umikot naman ito at pumasok sa driver seat and drove the car.

We were just silent the whole ride. Panaka-naka namang tumitingin si Nicholai sa akin. Napasimangot ako nang makitang traffic nga talaga.

I was startled nang biglang nag-ring ang phone ko. Napatingin si Nicholai at tinaas ang isang kilay sa akin.

I took my phone and saw that it was Cheni, my bestfriend.

[Is it true?] bungad na tanong agad nito. I was confused about what she mean.

"About what, Cheni?" naguguluhang tanong ko sa kanya.

[Totoo ba na kasal na kayo ni Nicholai? I am your bestfriend pero ako ang huling nakaalam. I felt so betrayed.]

Napahilot ako sa aking sentido. Madami naman talaga ang walang alam sa amin ni Nicholai. We didn't keep it a secret but we also didn't tell them. If they asked, we answered, that was it.

"I'm sorry, Cheni. Biglaan kasi—"

[Biglaan? Seriously, Dosh? Tatlong buwan na pala kayong kasal pero wala akong alam! Am I really your best friend?] may hinanakit na sabi nito.

"I'm really sorry, dosh. Medyo busy ka din kasi sa bago mong negosyo at ayaw kitang maistorbo." I glanced at Nicholai, he was looking at the road and didn't mind me.

[Ugh! Fine! I admit. Naging busy nga ako. Pero naiinis pa din ako. Hindi mo ako nga ininvite sa kasal mo.]

"I'll make it up to you. Okay?"

[You should be. Magkita tayo ngayon din.] Napailing ako. Same as usual. Napakademanding talaga nito.

"Hindi ako pwede ngayon, dosh."

[What? Bakit? Magtatampo na talaga ako sayo!]

"We're on our way to the clinic. May appointment kami kay Dr. Lagman."

[Huh? May sakit ka ba?] Nag-aalalang tanong nito.

"No. Wala akong sakit. Prenatal check-up ko, dosh. I'm pregnant. Almost four months na."

[You're pregnant?! Oh my god! I really hate you.]

"Sorry na." I didn't noticed na nasa harap na pala kami ng private clinic. Nicholai maneuvered the car and parked it in the clinic's parking lot. "I got go, dosh. Nasa clinic na kami. I'll call you later, bye." Pinutol ko agad ang tawag. Kasi alam ko tatalakan na naman ako nun.

"You're meeting Cheni after your check up?" biglang tanong ni Nicholai pagkababa namin ng kotse.

"Hmm. Hindi ko naisip yan. Pero pwede din. Can I meet her after?" sabi ko habang papasok kami ng clinic. I was about to open the door nang bigla itong bumukas. My brows furrowed ng makita ang pamilyar na mukha nang babaeng buntis na may kasamang lalaki. She smiled at me at naglakad na sila paalis.

My eyes widened when I remembered who it was. Si Dr. Olive Ramirez yun! Hindi ako nagkakamali. Asawa niya ba yung lalaki?

Obvious naman ata na asawa niya yun Denima.

I was startled when I felt Nicholai's hand on my back. He opened the door for me at inalalayan akong pumasok.

"You didn't answer me, Nic. Okay lang ba na magkita kami?"

"Yes. We will. Sasamahan kita. I'm all yours today." He smirked which made me roll my eyes.
