Alina
“I don't plan to keep her here for a long time because she will suddenly grow wings and backfire on me,” I said to Luna Dowager, whom I was sitting before. It's her grace that I'm here now. If she had resented me, I would not have gotten this opportunity.
Still, I wouldn't make the mistake of telling her all my plans, because I'm sure she must be doing all these with me for power and nothing else. If I'm too loose, I will be a tool to her and be the puppet here.
Provided I'm Luna, I need to have my rights, and that will only happen if Alpha Nikolai doesn't ever recall Elvina again. Once he does, my stay in the palace comes to an end because he would certainly overshadow his mother.
“What do you have in store for her? I just don't want all I had fought for to be a waste of time….” she said to me, and I pulled my lips aside into a dirty smile. I wonder what she wants to hear from me. Despite the bond holding us together, I still don't trust her. “On the day of the welcome ceremony, you will be crowned, Luna,” she added.
The sound of the door made us halt, and then it slowly opened, and a lady with an apron tied around her came in. I didn't have to be told that she was the chef.
She bowed before us and knelt on the floor. “Your Highnesses, Luna and Luna Dowager…..” she greeted, her head facing the floor.
“What are you doing here?” Luna Dowager slammed her question at her irritatedly.
The chef cleared her throat. “I'm not sure if you two are aware, but the deposed Luna is preparing the Alpha King's meal. The worst is that she messed up the vegetables with her blood from a cut, and the Alpha walked in and dressed her cut instead of punishing her.”
My fist clenched as I heard further. What was going on with Nikolai? He did oppress her right in my present, and he went through the back playing a nice role. I just hope he did not recall anything about her.
Luna Dowager twisted her face. She seemed dumbfounded.
“It's okay. I will take care of it from here.” I said to the chef who bowed to us and left the room. I faced Luna Dowager, whose nose was wrinkled. “What is wrong with him? He didn't recall anything about him……” I gritted my teeth. “.....or, is he faking it?”
Luna looked at me closely. “Weren't you there when the test was taken?”
“But this is outrageous.” I heaved a deep sigh and stood up. “I'm going to the kitchen.”
“Her wolf was suppressed. What if it had woken up? The mate bond is the only thing that can always draw Nikolai to her. Even if someone tells him that Elvina was his mate and Luna, he wouldn't go near her unless their wolf is connected.” Luna uttered, her palm supporting her jaw.
I rolled my eyes. Come to think of it, she was making sense. Probably, someone must have told Alpha that Elvina was his mate and Luna, but yet, it was only the mate bond that drew him to Elvina so quickly without thinking twice.
“But you took care of her wolf after Alpha brought her to the palace. If her wolf is awake now, then it means that her wolf has awakened and is bonding with Nikolais' wolf." I said to Luna, and she looked up at me.
She nodded. “I think so, then I will have to see the witch doctor again for the charm. Don't you think so?”
“Yeah! That's the right to do. I wonder when you will get it…..” I said to her and picked up my cell phone that had beeped, and it was an irrelevant message.
“Before your coronation,” she said to me.
I bowed to her before heading out of the room to the kitchen. When I reached there, Elvina was nowhere around. I glanced around and saw the chef who had met me and Luna, and then I tapped her shoulder. “Why isn't she here?”
Her lips dropped open. She was short of words for some time until she came back to her senses. “Uhmm, she should be in the Alpha’s room since she isn't back yet. When I came in here, she was leaving with the tray of food.”
My stomach rumbled on hearing that. Elvina is with the Alpha King despite knowing that she is supposed to serve me alone. She is really testing my patience this time.
I hurled my feet out of the kitchen, my heels clicking on the pavement until I reached the Alpha's room. ‘She's pushing harder, so Alpha will recall her because if not, she had the right to decline to prepare that meal, and I would take her side. But, I will make sure she loses. She is already a loser and will always lose,’ I swallowed harder and rang the doorbell.
Impatience ran in my blood, and I had to open the door and barge into the room before I had the Alpha’s command.
My feet stiffened on the floor at the sight of Elvina sitting on Alpha Nikolai’s thigh. My jaw tightened, and I didn't even know what to do.
If I make a rash move, I will be punished by Alpha, so I have to mind my actions even though everything is pissing me off.
Exhaling a deep breath, I took slow steps toward Alpha and adjusted the table. My eyes met Elvina, but she looked away. I'm certain she knows the repercussions of what she's doing because acting like a coward is of no use.
“Alina, don't you think it's wrong getting into my room when I didn't order so?” Alpha Nikolai’s voice dawned on me. Was he f*****g referring to me? Wasn't that rude of him? “Don't be pissed off. I think she can play a nice role as my Mistress. What do you think? I'm the Alpha King and I have all the right to have as many women as I wish. Isn't it?”
I felt a cold pit form in my belly. Is it still the matebond or what?
“But, she's my servant. And, you can't have a mistress until I conceive a successor to the throne." I said to her, my chest expanding like it would explode.
He pouted his lips and shrugged his shoulders. “Then, I will always have her around until you conceive, before she steps down from being your servant,” he said to me and kissed Elvina's cheek.
A surge of heat overwhelmed me. My feet were glued to the floor.
“Give us some privacy,” Alpha ordered—his voice alone could tell that it was an order.
I bowed to him and made my way out of the door. I leaned on the wall, my sweaty palms scratching on it. “Tie her outside the palace once she steps her feet out of that room,” I said to the guard at the door and he bowed to me.
She thinks she can look down on me and go scot-free. I will disgrace her that she would prefer to be a corpse.
