Emily’s POV At Paris... “Cassie, here is your file and hot coffee. You have a meeting with Ronald and his wife today at 12, then you have to go to your son’s school for the meeting with his class teacher. After which you have an appointment at the parlor and then finally the most awaited date with, Mr. Alexander.” Detailing her today’s schedule I look up from my iPad with a smile at her to know if there is anything she would like to change or add. But, busy signing the file she just nods her head with the biggest and happiest smile formed on her lips telling me, my words worked. “Here, send this file to the editing department.” She says, looking up with a tint of redness on her cheeks telling me about her thoughts. “Okay,” I said turning around to leave with a smile to see my mentor, friend, and whatnot should I name her. She is the one due to whom I am what I am today after landing at this place, Paris leaves my homeland behind. No, she didn’t give me this position of her personal assistant because I am her friend, I got it on my own and due to destiny too. But, she mentored me and helped me in going on with life for myself, my future, and whenever I have a low time. She has gone through the worst in comparison to what I had. I am not saying that whatever I have gone through is something casual or normal but hers is something no one could even imagine. I am happiest to see her finally having the time of her life, the happiest and in love Cassie. She is having what she deserves after her going through what I can’t imagine someone having such tragedy in life. “Em,” And, I know she wants to share about her nervousness regarding the date today as she calls me with the endearment which she does only when she needs me as her friend, not as a personal assistant. Walking straight to her, “Don’t worry I will pick up Jack from school and inform his teacher to change the date.” Knowing very well that she won’t like her son to see her getting all nervous as he is a pool of questions who will definitely start enquiring her. No, she wants to tell her son about this more than anything but she doesn’t want to give him any hope until she herself is hundred percent sure if Alex is the one or not. Exhaling and relaxing she smiles, “Thank you, Em. I don’t know what I would have done without you.” Shaking my head, “Managing everything as great as you had in the past. You are the one I should dedicate this line to, so don’t make me seem like I have done something great.” I chuckle, “Oh, and one more thing.” Taking out the jewelry box from my pocket I pass it to her making her look at the box with confusion. “What is this? And, why are you giving this to me?” she questions with her soft and confused look changing into a hard glaring one towards me. I know what she must be thinking but I smile shaking my head. “No, it is not a new one neither something I am giving you permanently.” Frowning at my words she looks between me and the box. “Then, why did you give it to me.” She questions opening the box only to smile widely at the beautiful piece my mom designed especially for me. “It’s beautiful, Em.” Nodding my head, “I know, it is the world’s most beautiful pendant that too only one piece.” Raising her brows she looks at me. “It is specially designed by my mom. She gifted it to me when I was in the university, it is really special for me.” I say looking at the bluestone which makes this pendant even more special. It is the stone that my dad designed himself using water and different materials. He has knowledge of making different stones which have been quite beneficial for both me and my mom. “It looks so exquisite, dear. Where did she find this stone from?” Looking intensely at the stone she questions almost in awe. “This doesn’t look like something easy to find.” I smile with all the memories flashing in front of me, how dad always used to spend his time making such precious stones for me and mom. It was not like we were not able to afford diamonds or something but it was just that his handmade stones are way more worthy than them because it includes his hard work, love, and even more our environmental ingredients. “Yes, because he used water and some stones to make it.” I always have thought of learning these from him and believe me I did when I was in my university but due to him being busy at work and me getting married after my university I wasn’t able to learn the whole process. Therefore, I just never got the chance to learn and excel in it like him. “It has always been lucky for me and therefore, I am giving it to you for your date as it is a very moment for not only you but also for Jack.” Getting up from her seat, she walks around the table with a gloomy look on her face making me go confused. “You are the best, my girl. Thank You so much for thinking so much about us, especially Jack. You are like an elder sister to him, I don’t know how would I have managed all this without you.” Making me chuckle she says wrapping her arms around me tightly. Smiling with happiness taking place in my heart, “Oh, come on. You are a one woman army, you are enough for everything and everyone alone. Before I came into your life also everything was handled by you just amazingly. These all are the fruits of your efforts and never giving up spirit. And, in future also the same will happen, even without me.” Hearing my last words she pull herself away from me with a confused look. “Are you going somewhere or what?” she questions me facepalm myself. Shaking my head, “No, where will I go suddenly that too when I have nowhere to go.” Arching my brows I said shrugging my shoulders. Nodding her head she sighs walking to the coffee table in her cabin and slumps down on the couch. “Just the nervousness about today’s evening is taking a toll on me.” Tilting and resting her back her head she groans out loudly which I am sure the staff who must be passing through must have heard it. To lighten her mood, an idea strikes my head, and instantly decide to execute it, “Okay, I know how your mood will lighten.” Raising her head she gives me a questioning look when pulling out my cell phone from my pocket I dial a number. The person on the other is quick to respond as the voice comes from the opposite side. “Hello,” hearing the voice Cassie gasp out loudly getting up and coming towards me. Glaring at me she starts whispering, and scolding me, “Hello, Emily? Are you there?” Questions Alexander after a few seconds of silence. “What are you doing? Are you mad? Keep the phone.” She whispers yells at me while somehow controlling myself from laughing out loud and telling him about how nervous is his Miss. Fisher felt upon the thought of today’s night only. “Yes, Alex, I am there,” I reply to him not wanting him to suspect what I am trying to do. “So, are you ready for today?” I question him starting the conversation as he knows I won’t call him just hear his voice or know if he is alive or not. “Ready? Till where I remember the date is at six, and it is not one yet.” He says as if doesn’t understand what I mean and after that, he even dares to chuckles making Cassie roll her eyes. “Hey, am I wrong? Did the time change or what?” He questions nervously and I can clearly feel the concern and fear in his voice giving me the kick I called him for. Taking just deep I only know I am controlling from bursting out into laughter while looking at how both of these react like a teenager, it is just so cute. “Umm… no… actually, no, nothing changed. Timing and location, everything is just same as before just your date is…” Taking a pause I try creating suspense for him to feel a small heart attack of joy but this time I fail as my attempt does not go as per what I want. He chuckles, and questions me sounding very relaxed completely opposite how I wish for him to react, “What are you trying to do, girl? What happened to my date?” And, all of a sudden hearing her date being so cool she smirks for sure seeing the disappointment on my face. “Are you not curious to know suddenly what happened to her?” I asked while pouting and taking my seat on the couch behind Cassie. “Obviously dear, I would like to know only if something is required to know and I don’t find it important for me to know during my working hours.” He replies making me gasp out and instantly look at my friend who is standing at her spot still without any reaction. And, fear takes its place in my heart and I question him, “What do you mean? Is work more important for you than knowing what happened to your date?” I feel like all of a sudden everything is going to be ruined in a few seconds. The excitement and happiness of my only friend are being snatched without even anything beginning to take place. “Of course, my work is what will help me make money not your boss and friend, dear.” He says as if he is saying a very casual thing keeping his date a few hours later. How can he even say it with so much chill in his voice? Hearing him I so feel like just yelling and going to him for teaching him a good lesson for even thinking like this and making my girl’s heartbreak. Looking at the girl standing in front of me I am not able to say what is going on inside her head as she stands at her spot frozen as if a bucket of ice water has been spilled upon her. I can understand what she must be feeling as at some point I have to go through the same heartbreak but somewhere or the other I feel that it is better that he said this now only. Or else the pain would have been deeper, and I don’t want this girl to through so much of a pain that I have suffered. I know feeling and pain can’t be measured but it is easier to get over it when your feelings are that deep when it is at the starting level. “What the f**k are you talking about?” I question him and again use a bad word which has been very much common now a days with me, but which obviously I don’t like. “Are you even in your senses? If your work is so important and you are so busy, then why the hell did you ask her for a date?” I yell at him which for sure must be audible to someone outside her cabin and it is then when she shuts my mouth telling me to calm down. “Calm down, girl. It is not that serious, just take deep breaths.” Confusion taking place in my head, I stare at her finding her face covered with amazement. “What are you saying? How can you ask me to calm down and why are you looking so amazed?” I question her softly as for a second even I start thinking that I am overreacting and whole while staring carefully at her face. “See, even your friend is not finding my words that seriously then why are you?” His questions made me seriously for a second feel like I am being nosey in their personal matter. But, then no, I am her friend and if she is going on the wrong path then I should be the one to show her the right way instead of just letting her walk down hell. “Hey, don’t you talk to me like that? Show your bossy attitude to your employees but not me. I am here for my friend I won’t ever let her go with a person like you to even a casual dinner, date is much farther away.” I said being completely arrogant when all of a sudden I find my cell phone being snatched from my hand. “Enough, now.” I open my mouth to argue with her but she shuts me up saying, “Alex, stop teasing her now. I don’t want her to say anything which she herself would regret.” Confused, I question, “Wh-what are you saying?” Frowning, I stare at her with a loss of words when I hear a peal of loud laughter from the other side of the call making me just scratch my head. “Why is he laughing now? Cassie, answer me.” “Dear, you still didn’t get it? I got it at starting only that you wanted to tease me and my girl. Did you seriously think it is so easy to fool me, Alexander McBroom? Oh, dear, your friend betrayed you, she texted me when began talking to me.” Hearing him I gasp out loud and look at the girl standing in front of me with an innocent look. Pointing my finger towards her, “You, the betrayer. How could you do this to me?” I ask taking my step towards her as she shrugs her shoulder. “What do you think, I would let you embarrass me saying to him that I am nervous thinking about the date?” She says herself blurting out what I wanted to, making me arch my eyebrow when the voice comes from the other side. “Hmm… so someone is nervous. Therefore, I got the alarm text beforehand only.” In a teasing voice, he says making me feel satisfied as though my plan failed but somehow I succeeded in it. And, this time I am the one to laugh out loud seeing my friend’s tomato like face due to blushing so hard. “Now you got it what I called for, Mr. McBroom?” I ask getting definitely as an answer when I decide to now leave them alone. “Okay, so now enjoy you both lovebirds. I am leaving you alone.” Saying which I get my iPad from the table and walk out but not before peeking in once again and saying, “Don’t forget to return me my cell when you are done with your…” I paused clearing my throat and getting back to my table.
