Chapter 12

I went about my daily duties in the bush cutting, clearing, packing and wasting . I even began to hum a melody that fostered a good feeling in me, awakening hopes for salvation. This goes on for a while as Madam Poof appears in the scene. "She seems to be having a good day today. Well let's see how long it lasts,” Madam Poof said grinning excessively. "Your chores for today are done. Let's move on to the most exciting part of the day. We'll pay a visit to the Mad House. Trust me you'll love it," Madam Poof continued. "Mad house? I've not heard about that before. Hopefully, my day continues to be fun," I replied. "I'm done. Let's go then," I said grudgingly. We both left immediately and came to a lonely place with blood spilled everywhere. There were pieces of bones scattered all about the place. It was called a Mad House but it didn't look quite like it. It took the appearance of a Haunted House, one where people are slaughtered. Although, the setting was a bit dreadful, sight of one or two slaves calmed my nerves as I took gazes while they walked in. After making lots and lots of stops, we finally arrived at a place that was completely dark. At their Advent, a light appeared and in front of us was a door. Madam Poof then said to me “my journey with you ends here. You must continue alone. Meet me back at the Prison yard before it's completely dark. Don't make me come get you, b***h,” She snorted and spat on the ground as she left the building with hasty steps. “Oh well, I wonder what adventure awaits. This mad house is something else," I mumbled. I then pushed the door wide open. The creaking sound the door made as it opened built on the fright that was already present. I opened the door and saw a bunny. It appeared to be in the center of the room. After a while, the bunny disappeared and all I could see was a pool of blood. I began to walk down and it seemed like the whole place began to get brighter and with each brightening moment, a very displeasing sound was heard. As I moved farther down into the room, I came across a curtain. "Sick!" I exclaimed "Where did this come from? I'm beginning to dislike the idea of visiting this mad house." I continued. As I took a few steps towards the curtain and tried to open them, a hand pulled me away totally from that direction and we both fell to the ground. "What were you looking for there," the stranger asked. I tried to pick myself and struggled to get a good view of the person that touched me, "nothing in particular. It just came out of nowhere and it seemed like the only way out of this place. So I decided to check it out." "You should be glad I came here in time to stop you from making that mistake. Who knows what would have happened to you in there," The stranger replied. The stranger was a woman. She looked quite aged, in her late 40s. She appeared a little scruffy. Almost like she was on an adventure. "Thank you Ma’am, I don't know my way around here. Do you think you can help me?” I asked. “Why yes I can. This place isn't for a girl like you. How did you get here in the first place?” The woman replied. "It's a long story. I just would like to leave this place right away,” I said. “It's really scary,” I added. "This way," said the Woman. As we walked farther into the darkness, we stumbled upon a door that appeared to be colored white. It had vines running from top to bottom and some creeping down its sides. "Where does this lead?" I asked. "Well, let's find out together," The woman answered looking at my gloomy expression. As we walked through the door, we entered into a hut-like building. It had a lot of vegetation surrounding it. The vines seemed to be everywhere, flowers blooming at all corners. It was quite beautiful, strange too. "This is where I live. I have been here for while and my husband and I love it here. Although we are without kids and sometimes are reminded of our failures, almost always the atmosphere here is a pleasant one. I can call it the Safe Haven of the Mad House. People hardly make it here but those that do get the experience of a lifetime,” The woman explained. "It looks lovely. What do you guys do here? How is this place even in a mad house?" I asked, amazed by all the things I could see. "I haven't been here longer than 10 minutes but I'm beginning to love it here. Wow! Those trees are huge," I screamed. "I am Wendy by the way. What's your name?" The woman asked. "Sophia! Pleased to meet you," I replied with a smile on my face. I tried to be welcoming because she seemed pretty nice and had prevented from encountering what would have endangered my life. But I still felt sore all over from yesterday's ordeal. "Are you the only one here?" I asked. The place looked like nothing I had seen before. Also, I was of the opinion that all about the Sacred Moon Pack was bad and I found it surprising that I could eventually other nice people. She seemed different from all the others. "No, not really. I stay with my husband and a few others," Wendy replied. “Actually, this place was abandoned by the time we got here. My husband and I together with a few others did a lot of rebuilding. We also plant all the beautiful flowers and tress you see here. It is somewhat hidden from the outside world, away from evil and those wolves that are Usurpers. We like it here,” Wendy explained further.
