Old Man (2)

“Sael brought him here more than a week ago. He said that kid saved his life when he was attacked by a demon.” Elissa responded casually. “Sael is attacked by a demon? And he actually survived because that kid saved him? What do you mean, princess? How did he save him?” The old man asked plenty of questions in one go. At first, he was surprised to hear that a demon had suddenly appeared. And he never expect that Sael would meet with such calamity. But what surprised him the most was he actually survived a demon attack and was saved by a kid. “Sael said that when he suffered from the demon's decaying ability, that kid came and gave him a drop of his blood,” Elissa replied. “Only a drop of blood from him and Sael was been saved by him? Is his blood really that special?” The old man asked, he looked at Elissa with more interest. “Maybe,” Elissa replied with a smile as she continued shortly after, “Or maybe that is his ability. I don't know. However, he said that he's only a Forsaken One and he didn't know what he did to Sael. He didn't even know how to use that power again.” “A Forsaken One? But have an incredible ability? Hoho, are you trying to make fun of this old man, princess? Do you think I only live yesterday?” The old man chuckled as he retorted. Naturally, he didn't believe that that kid they were talking about was only a Forsaken One. Or perhaps, he didn't believe that that kid had such an incredible capability. “Just when did I spout nonsense to you?” Elissa replied with a smile. She naturally understand why would the other party not believe her immediately. After all, even she herself was having a hard time believing in it. “That... Even so, this is just too...” The old man wanted to say that it didn't make sense at all but before he could finish his words, Elissa interrupted him. “Let me finish first,” Elissa said as she went on, “Although that kid Dugo said that he is a Forsaken One, Sael also said that he has this strange black energy that he is oblivious about. In my opinion, Dugo has something within him. And that black energy is connected to it.” The old man listened as his expression turned exceedingly serious. He took a spoon of rice soup before he said, “Black energy... I think I didn't hear anything about it in my old age. Are you sure that Sael isn't bluffing here?” “Looking at Sael's expression, I think he was serious when he talked about it. I know that kid well, I can immediately tell from his eyes if he is lying.” Elissa responded. She was with Sael since he was a baby so she naturally knew him well. “Hmm...” The old man pondered deeply as he took another spoon of rice soup. After a moment, he spoke in a low voice, “So this black energy of that kid is probably the thing that gave me chills. Just what the hell is that...” No wonder he felt a bit terrified the first time he saw that kid. It really appeared that there is something within him that is most likely to be an incredible thing. To whether it was a good or a bad thing, he didn't have any idea. All he could tell right now with his current knowledge about that kid was limited. He could only presume that he was not an ordinary kid. “By the way, you also said that that Dubo saved Sael from the demon's attack, right? Does that mean as well he also encountered the demon?” The old man thought about something as he asked. “His name is Dugo, not Dubo. Dugo Zugath.” Elissa replied with a slight smile as she continued, “Anyway, from what I learned, yes. Dugo also encountered the demon. However, that demon actually ignored him and let him go. Not only that, but it also gave him the direction to find the Portia.” “Something like that actually happened?” The old man was taken aback again as he found it hard to believe what he had just heard. The demon not only ignored that kid, but it also gave him a direction to find the legendary flower? No matter how he thought about it, he felt that it really didn't make sense at all. How could a demon, with a defiled nature, let go of someone like that kid? Not only that, that demon also appeared to be so kind as it gave something precious. Or perhaps, that thing wasn't reliable at all... With that in mind, the old man took another soon of rice soup as he asked, “You said that that demon gave him a direction, right? Do you know what it is?” “According to what I heard, it should be, ‘The Portia is in the middle of the forest. The guide is the wisps’.” Elissa replied leisurely as she asked, “What do you think. Is it reliable?” However, Elissa still hadn't gotten an answer when he saw the other party had his eyes constricted. She could tell that he had realized something from what she said just now. “So, that damned spirits are really the key to find the legendary flower. I suspect it long ago, but I never thought that my guess is actually correct.” The old man muttered to himself in a low voice. But of course, it was more than enough for Elissa to hear it. As such, Elissa smile again as she asked softly, “So, you are implying that the word of that demon is actually true?” Instead of replying to her right away, the old man put the bowl on his mouth to eat the rice soup in one go. After he was done, he put the bowl down on the table as only then did he reply, “I don't know. But from the looks of it, it's more likely to be true.” After he said those words, the old man stood up from his seat as he continued, “Pardon my excuse, princess. I have some matters to do.” Elissa chuckled softly as she replied, “So, you are now itching to try it out huh.” “This matter is of importance. If I find the Portia, I may be able to cure you.” The old man smiled warmly. After which, he got out of his seat as he turned around, and walked towards the main door. Elissa only watched the back of the other party as a wide and sweet smile appeared on her lips. Speaking of crazy people, it was not only Sael or Dugo who would think that Portia could cure the Forsake One but this old man as well. “Thank you, grandfather...” Seeing the back of the old man, Elissa could only mutter such words as she was grateful to have such a grandfather. Without knowing it, tears started appearing in her eyes as they fell to her cheeks. Noise. Noise then filled the house but shortly after, it became completely quiet. Naturally, the old man had finally left the house.
