Shiann's POV
I watched as the three men disappeared behind a large, dark wooden door and turned in a small circle, looking at the large entryway with its opaque wood panels and beams. The walls were painted white.
From the entryway, several doors led to a set of stairs in the same dark wood.
I am in awe at how big and beautiful it is here; I could see myself living here with Aidrian.
Wait, what? Where did that come from? I haven't thought of anyone since I ran from Kyle.
**** Memory from 6 months ago*****
I am cowering in a corner as blow after blow land on my head and body.
" P...p.please, I...I L..Love Y...You"
" You, stupid little b***h ", he sneers at me. His blue eyes are ice cold as he looks at me." You think I could ever love someone as pathetic as you?"
He laughed at me as I cowered in the corner. I felt tears starting to fall from my eyes. He growled as he grabbed me by my throat and lifted me off the floor. All the laughter was gone.
He threw me across the room in disgust and turned on his heel to leave. " I'm going out with the boys and maybe find a real woman," he said over his shoulder. As he opened the door, he turned around and glared at me. "Get this mess cleaned up, " he said, slamming the door behind him.
I struggled to get to my feet. I knew I had to escape before he killed me. It took me 10 minutes to get to the door; once I got there, I slowly opened the door, peeked out, and looked down the hallway of the apartment building, sighing in relief, there was no one around.
I took one last look at my apartment, which was once beautiful, with several potted plants and paintings on the walls, and the living room window that received all the afternoon sun. It was all now broken and in pieces.
I hurried down the hallway to the front doors and saw my one friend. " Oh my ..." Charlotte, or Charlie for short, started as she took in my broken and bloodied appearance.
" Please, I need to get out of here before he gets back", I begged her, shaking and crying.
She gave a quick nod and opened the passenger-side door for me; I gratefully sank into the seat as she hurried around the car, got on the driver's side, and started it.
We were pulling out when I saw him entering the parking lot; I sank into my seat so he couldn't see me. I sighed, relieved once we left the parking lot and drove away.
Charlie let me use her phone to call my aunt, who allowed me to use her cottage with the promise not to tell him they saw me.
When we stopped to pick up the keys, my aunt was shocked to see my bruised and bloodied face. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears, but she didn't say anything. She handed me a bag of old clothes, some money for food and the keys.
I hugged them, and Charlie took me to the cabin, my new home.
****** Back To Present****************
The entry remained empty while I waited for Kyra. " Where are you?" I whispered to myself.
My phone pinged, letting me know I had a text message.
Come to Lily's place at 9 pm unless you want your friends to die.
It came from Lily's number. I stifled a sob as I heard a door open. I quickly looked at the time; it was only 6:15 pm.
I needed to figure out how I would get out without being seen, just as Alpha Aidrian walked into the entryway. I put my phone in my pocket.
His scent enveloped me, and I loved his smell. I could breathe it in indefinitely. I wasn't prepared to trust him yet, as he walked over to me and took my hand in his much larger one. I felt the tingles and shocks go through my body, calming me.
He looked down at me with his warm amber eyes. His mouth was in a tight line, a crease was in his forehead, and his brows were knitted together.,
I nervously bit my lower lip and looked down at the floor. Neither one of us had said anything yet.
" Tell me what happened and where Kyra is."
I told him everything that happened after I got to work that morning, and after we left Lily's place, after seeing her bedroom. I couldn't bring myself to say anything about the blood, though.
Aidrian nodded, still looking at me with hooded eyes. He pulled me into his chest and held me tight.
I'm sure he knows I'm leaving something out, but I'm hoping he doesn't overthink it so I can get out and save my friends.
Two men I hadn't seen yet walked in without shirts, showing off their chiselled chests and rock-hard abs. Wearing only bike shorts, they were identical twins. Both had unruly, dirty blonde hair, blue-green eyes, and strong jaws.
They looked at Aidrian." Can we speak with you for a moment? " Both men looked at me.
He nodded and reluctantly let me go again, " Stay here," he said with command.
I nodded, and he looked satisfied as he walked away.
I looked around for somewhere to sit and noticed an off-white loveseat against a wall in a little nook.
I pull my phone out of my pocket when I hear another ping.
Come alone, or they die.
That was all it said. I tried to swallow past the lump that was forming in my throat. I look at the door where the men have disappeared.
I move cautiously to the front doors, and it feels like getting to them takes forever. Once I'm there, I quickly pull them open and slip out.
I start to run, pausing to look back. "I'm sorry," I whisper, turning to start running again. I need to get to Lily's to try and save my friends, not caring or even thinking I might be putting myself in danger.
