Her dream Mate

Chapter 17

Jacob's POV

When I got home, I tried linking Alpha, but he wasn't responding.

Getting frustrated, I decided to go to the hospital to see him. This was far, and it was far too important to hold off on telling him.

Just as I pulled up to the front of the hospital, I noticed two men to the side of the building; thank God for werewolf eyesight; otherwise, I wouldn't have made out Josh, but I could see the other guy's face, but his hair and build looked familiar.

I started walking to the front doors of the hospital. It was a small hospital with the patient's rooms, imaging labour and delivery all on the first floor. The second floor was doctors' offices, and the lowest level had a cafeteria.

I walked down the hallway to Luna's room. I was so focused on where I was going that I almost didn't hear the footsteps behind me. I stopped abruptly. I whipped around only to see some guy that I vaguely recognized. Then it hit me, Kyle, something I couldn't remember the guy's last name. He was a low-level warrior in the Blue Moon pack, the same pack Luna I was from.

" Jacob?" he called out to me like we were some old friends or something. I looked at him for a second, " Kyle, right?" I asked him, watching as annoyance flashed across his face, but it was gone just as quickly.

" How can I help you ?" I politely asked, not caring what he wanted, but something told me to see what he wanted. He started to look uncomfortable and shifted around as I kept my eyes trained on his face.

" Um...that is..." he trailed off as his eyes looked everywhere but at me, and he was starting to p*ss me off.

" Look, I really gotta go, so if you want something, spit it out already ", I snapped in irritation.

" Yeah, um.." he hesitated for a second, then seeing the scowl on my face, he knew that I was ready to walk away before he showed me a picture of the Luna. " Have you seen my girlfriend? She came here about six months ago and never called me, and I am so worried about her," he hurriedly told me, almost tripping over his words.

" Can I have the picture and keep a lookout for her, and I will tell the Alpha as well? " I asked, keeping my voice calm when every fibre told me this guy was up to no good. He nodded and handed me the picture.

" Boss, we can't lead him to Luna", my wolf urged." his wolf says that he hurt her; she ran away from him and was afraid of him." I could feel how upset he was getting.

"OK, how about we see Lily first until he leaves?

"OK, boss," he said, calming down measurably.

Lily's room was a few doors away from Luna's. I tried linking Alpha again, but he still wasn't answering until I got Sid to talk to his wolf, and he answered the link.

I gave him a rundown of everything, including that Kyle was looking for her. He was silent at first.

"He didn't tell anyone that he had found his mate", he sounded thoughtful.

" I am visiting Lily and her mate until he leaves. I don't want to lead him right to her." I explained, then closed the link.

Aidrian's Pov

To say I was shocked that Josh had found his mate and not told anyone was an understatement. And to say that I was wary as to why her ex was here looking for her was also puzzling me. Why was he here, and what did he want with my mate?

I was determined to get those answers, but she needed me by her side right now, and I wasn't about to level her unprotected, especially with him so close to her.

"Let's take mate for run, " my wolf said, sounding so hopeful.

"We will, but after she gets out of the hospital, OK?" I explained to him. I got the impression of him nodding as he went to the back of my mind and curled up.

I felt Shian start to move around on the bed, and when I looked at her, her face was contorted in fear. Her eyes were still closed, so I knew she was still asleep.

I grabbed her hand and started rubbing soft circles on the back of it while I spoke softly to her, trying to comfort her; when she began trashing around, I grew concerned that she might hurt herself. I gently picked her up and settled us both back on the bed, being careful of the tubes and wires. She was nestled in my lap, and she slowly started to calm down, and eventually, her breathing returned to normal.

Breathing a sigh of relief, I looked down at my little mate," I will protect you til my last breath", I softly said into her hair before placing a gentle kiss on the top of her head.

I couldn't wait to mark her, but I knew she was not ready for that yet, and I was willing to wait until she was ready. No matter how long that would take and, my wolf was in agreement with me.

As she slept, I stayed awake, ready to protect her at all costs. She was my world now, and I just had to find a way to convince her of that.
