Chapter 11

**** Aidrian's POV ***** I can't believe my troublemaker of a brother is back. I was constantly bailing him out of one scrape or another until our father got fed up and sent him away to boarding school. He didn't even let me know he was back, so when he called me and told me he had found the missing girls and they were at the hospital getting checked out, I knew he was holding back on me, but to say I was surprised is an understatement. He informed me that one of the girls was his mate. He had explained why he was driving in the area where they had been found and that his wolf had sensed his mate, which drew him to the cottage. But I still get the feeling that he is hiding something from me. I don't know what it is yet, but I will figure it out. I looked at the time and saw it was time to pick up my mate from her job. I didn't want her working there, but to keep her happy, I allowed it, and without her knowing, I placed warriors around the cafe to keep her safe. After I bring her back to the pack house, I will have my brother take me to the cottage to see it and hopefully get some damn answers. I want whoever is responsible for this safely locked up in my dungeons. I heard a knock on my door, bringing me out of my thoughts. " Come in, "I called. The door opened, and Jacob entered, looking very worried. He wasn't only my best friend but also my beta. "Adrian, we need to talk," was all he said. " About what?" I asked. Before he could say anything else, my phone started to ring. It was Alpha Maddox for the Blood Moon pack. " Alpha Maddox, what can I help you with?" I asked him. " We have had four girls go missing in the last twenty-four hours, and I had heard that the same thing was happening in your pack," he said, sounding as stressed as I felt. "Let's meet tomorrow and discuss this," Alpha Maddox said. We set the meeting for eleven the following day, and he would call other nearby packs to see if they were having girls going missing. I got to my feet, grabbed my keys, and looked at Jacob." We can talk while I get my mate, " I told him, hurrying out the door. "Is everything OK with my mate? I mind-linked Josh ' Yeah, she seems fine,' he said'. Why is there something I should know?' he asked. ' No, no, everything's fine,' I told him when a blousy feeling hit me out of nowhere. I cut the link when I climbed into the car, and Jacob jumped beside me. I looked over at him as I started the car and again saw worry etched on his face. " Spill it," I told him, pulling out of the driveway of the pack house and starting to drive to the diner where my mate was. I needed to see her safe for myself, not that I didn't trust Josh, but I just had a gut feeling that something was wrong. " It's about your brother..." he started cautiously. "What about him?" I asked, glancing over at him. I could tell he was hesitating, like there was something on his chest. " Do you trust him?" he hedged, " No, I don't," I told him honestly. " Why?" " I don't believe one word of what he said," he told me, looking at me. The car fell silent after what he said, more or less confirming what I thought earlier; I sped up, feeling that I needed to get to her now! ****** Shiann's POV ****** Aidrian drove me to work early this morning like he said he would, but I didn't count on him staying until Gamma Josh showed up. He never took his eyes off me, which made me very nervous. The other customers noticed him as they entered; some were eyeing him nervously. Soon, I was focusing on the fact that Kyra hadn't come in yet, even though she should have been here almost two hours ago. I was busy with all the customers as Lily was still in the hospital, but I had heard that she should be home by the time my shift ended, and I planned to check on her. When I went to the back to give the cook another order, I took out my phone and looked to see if she had tried calling me. I had no missed calls from her, so I decided to try calling her, but there was no answer. Now I am scared. Did something happen to her? Was she missing? " Order up," the cook called, bringing me out of my thoughts as I looked at him. He was a charming guy. He had a bit of grey hair at his temples, broad shoulders and a muscular build, and he was almost like an older brother to me. I felt that close to him. " Have you heard from Kyra?" I asked worriedly. He shook his head. " No, why?" he asked, returning to the orders that needed to be done. I shrugged. "She was supposed to be here almost two hours ago," I told him. I tried to tell Gamma Josh, but he wouldn't even send someone over to check on her, which upset me even more. I felt something was wrong, but I couldn't just leave and check on her. Jerry was a regular customer who always sat at the bar and loved to talk to me most since Kyra was always busy, or so she told him. Still, she had mentioned to me that he gave her the creeps, and now, as I looked at his chocolate brown eyes and short hair, I saw that he was rather good-looking, with his strong jaw and straight nose. " What's wrong? "he asks in his deep voice, which sends shivers down my spine, which they had never done before. " Um...Nothing," I told him, unsure if I should tell him, so I opted not to say anything and wait to see if Aidrian called. If I am being honest with myself, I'm not sure about him. I am terrified he will hurt me like my ex did. But I needed him to check on Kyra and ensure she was alright. The day seemed like it never wanted to end when it was finally getting close to the end of my shift, and I knew Aidrian would soon be there when all hell broke loose.
