chapter 19

Shiann's POV When I got the doctor's okay to go home, the nurses took out my IVs and everything. I was so ready to leave this hospital that I didn't think I needed counselling. I mean, it was only a couple of panic attacks and nightmares. I didn't want to tell Aidrian I had thought I had seen Kyle outside my room last night when Jacob was there, but I couldn't be sure. So I said nothing. I don't want him to think I'm crazy or anything. I know I'm afraid of just about everything, but I hoped with time and knowing that Kyle couldn't get to me to hurt me, I would get stronger. Hmmm, maybe some counselling would help me after all. If nothing else, it would help get my head on straight, and Starr can relax finally. When we left, the sun felt so warm on my skin that I just wanted to lie down and soak it up, but Aidrian pulled my hand gently, letting me know that I had to keep moving. We stopped at a large SUV-type truck that was black and had tinted windows so that I couldn't see into it. He helped me get in and buckled me up before going around to his side of the truck, climbing in, and putting the keys in the ignition, but he didn't start it right away, which made me turn and look at him. " So, um..." Aidrian started while looking at me. " Rocky wants to go for a run with Starr if she is up to it, " he asked, watching me carefully and gauging my reaction. Starr started jumping around excitedly. " Yes, Yes, Yes ", she cried out. I laughed out loud." She would move too," I told him. He smiled. "Okay, soon we will do that," He told me as he started the car, pulled out of the parking spot and slowly went down the hill. When I looked in the side mirror on my door, I saw a car I had hoped never to see again. It was a dark blue sedan, but I would know it anywhere. It was one of Kyles's friend's cars. My breathing started to pick up as I got a glance at the driver. It was Kyle. No, no, no, it can't be! What is he doing here? Why can't he leave me alone? " Hey, what's wrong? " Aidrian asked with concern in his voice. " Kyle, my ex..." I started gasping for breath "OK, take a deep breath and tell me." he still sounded concerned, but now it was laced with anger. I tried to do as he said, " he is right behind us." I was able to get out between gasps. His eyes went to the rearview mirror and spotted him. He sped up and raced around corners, down tree-lined streets, while I held onto the car door so tight my knuckles had turned white, squeezing my eyes shut, and I prayed that we didn't hit anybody or get ourselves killed. " AIDRIAN PLEASE!!!!!" I screamed as we took another corner so fast that two tires left the ground. He didn't respond, nor did he slow down until we pulled up to the front of the pack house; he put it in park, raced around, tore open my door, yanked off my seatbelt, and raced me inside. As he raced inside, he started yelling for Jacob. I heard the door close behind us and tried to see over his shoulders to see who closed the door, but I couldn't until he turned around and Jacob stood there looking puzzled. " Hey, how are you feeling, Luna?" He asked, looking at me, then not waiting for my answer. He turned to Aidrian. " What's wrong? What's happened?" he asked, taking in his furious state; Aidrian's eyes had gone red with his wolf trying to come forward. " we were followed from the hospital, and she saw her ex behind the car wheel." his voice sounded very deep and guttural. I had never heard anything like it, but I wasn't afraid. I knew he wouldn't hurt me. And Starr had come forward ready for whatever came at us. Aidrian, still carrying me, led the way to his office; once we were seated, I could look around and noticed the large windows and shelves lined with books. Although his large desk was done in dark colours, I liked that it felt warm. Jacob's eyes and Aidrian's were clouded over, telling me that they were either linking to each other or with someone else. A few minutes later, the two men in my room this morning came in, followed by another one that I was t familiar with, but he looked very similar to Aidrian, so I assumed that he was his brother or cousin maybe. " Lily is downstairs waiting to see you, the one who looked like Adrian told me. I turned my head to look at Aidrian to see if he would let me go. He reluctantly agreed. " But don't you leave this house", he said sternly. I nodded as I got off his lap, instantly missing contact with him; I walked to the door and opened it. " Oh, and the cook has prepared some lunch for you and Lily", he called. I turned, glanced back, "OK", and let the door close softly as I headed down to see my friend. I raced down the stairs, anxious to see her. As I rounded the corner to the entry hall, I saw her talking to an older woman I wasn't familiar with. " Shiann, this is Mrs. white. She is the housekeeper." he smiled warmly as she introduced us.
