Liz

I was not looking forward to spying on Miguel and Jennifer. I figured I did my part so now I could leave them alone and be done with it but I knew Camila would want to make sure they were happy and really going to be together. The minute we walked into this burger joint, Missy's, I knew something was going to go down. Marco's was right, it looked like the entire Junior class was here. I sat all the way in the back so they wouldn't see me or notice I was talking to myself. Miguel and Jennifer finally showed up twenty minutes after I got here. They both looked shocked, nervous, and well Miguel looked angry to see all these kids here. They sat down and tried to ignore the prying eyes. They seemed to be enjoying themselves though. Every once in a while you could hear whispers and comments on the date. Mostly they were girls saying "Don't you think it's too soon." Miguel leaned into Jennifer and whispered something into Jennifer's ear and then they both stared at each other and laughed. Miguel looked over to the people watching them and he said "Get a life, children." They looked scared and soon either left or stopped looking at their general direction. Jennifer seemed more at ease and smiled a bit more. Camila was staring intently at them. I didn't know whether this was funny or sad but I was glad she was okay. Suddenly, a girl with short brown hair and glasses walked in. Her hair looked like it hadn't been washed in a couple of days. Her clothes were kind of baggy on her and she looked untidy. I mean she didn't look ugly but just like she didn't even try to put on clean clothes or care about her appearance. "Liz," Camila whispered but it was still loud enough for me to hear her. "Well, look what we have here, I heard you two were going out on a date," the tiny girl said. "Liz, what do you want," Miguel said softly as if he was trying not to offend her. "You have some nerve going out with her, out of all the girls who want you, HER, REALLY," the girl looked angry but also sad. "Liz, it's been over a-," "Miguel," Jennifer interrupted him. Miguel looked over at Jennifer then to the students eavesdropping and then back to Liz. "I didn't mean to-," "Yeah, you never mean to but you do, you end up saying things you don't mean and hurting people," Liz said angrily. "Liz, please," Jennifer said tearfully. "Oh, this is as much your fault as it is his, and here I thought you were smart and were going to stay away from him but no he sweet talks you and you fall again," Liz said. "What did it cost the last time." "Shut up Liz," Miguel said angrily. "It wasn't my-," "Really," Liz laughed manically. "It wasn't your fault. Who was driving?" I looked over at Camila and she was crying. No, she was balling her eyes out. "Hey, tiny girl, you need to stop talking and leave," I said as I walked up to her. I didn't want Camila to keep crying. I didn't want her to get upset and leave again. "Who are you?" Liz asked. "That doesn't matter, your being rude and annoying," I said harshly. "Well, this doesn't concern you," she said "Miguel deserves to be unhappy forever. After what he did to my best friend." I looked back at Miguel and he had lost all color in his face. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry Liz," Miguel said as he tried to extend his hand out to her. "Don't touch me," she shouted. "You two hurt her. You lied to her, you told her you loved her." "I didn't mean to," Miguel said suddenly. "Miguel," Jennifer got up from the table and backed away slowly. "What did you do." "I didn't mean to say it to her but I just wanted to be a good guy. She was like a little sister to me and I did love her but I wasn't in love with her," he explained. "You told her you loved her, you made her think you had fallen in love with her," Liz snapped at him. "I know but it was just complicated at the time and I never wanted to hurt her or make her cry," he said. I looked over at Camila and the broken girl I saw staring at me broke my heart. I turned around and punched Miguel in the face. "Your an asshole, and maybe you do deserve to be unhappy forever," I grunted before storming out. "Hey, wait," I heard Liz said as she ran up behind me. "What," I didn't mean to say it harshly but I was beyond pissed. "Why did you do that," I thought about it and then realized I left without bringing Camila with me. I looked around like a madman and sighed with relief when I saw her at my side. "I hate him," Liz looked at me and seemed to not believe my simple answer. Well, I couldn't tell her I did it because I was trying to defend Camila. "Do you know about what happened to his ex-," Liz looked upset again as she spoke. "Did you ever hear about what happened to him and a girl named Camila." "Sort of," I told her. " I moved into her old house so people tend to want to tell me about her." It wasn't a complete lie. "Wow, really," she said surprised. "Do you mind if I come over?" I was going to shout hell no but as Liz fixed her glasses and looked up at me she said something that made me want to say hell yes. "I can tell you the real story." "Fine," I said. Weirdly, Camila didn't look like she wanted to stop me. She just wiped away her tears and walked with us. This tiny girl was weird but she was finally going to give me all the answers I wanted.
