Steal Your Heart, Soul and Your Sight

"Heartbreaker that will rob your soul, your heart, and your sight," Marco said. "WHAT!" I said annoyed and confused. I noticed Camila hadn't stopped looking at him. "Well, look at him. He is every girls dream. Soccer gave him a good body and his hair is probably combed by god himself," Marco said annoyed. "Every girl loses sight of any other male the moment they see him. He steals their hearts and soul. They know they can't have him but they still want him, probably even more now." I noticed Camila give Marco an angry look. "Oh come on, he is not that good looking," I said. The three boys at my table including Camila looked at me like I just said something dumb. "Hey, it's okay, I'm not into him but damn he is hot," Bill said. "Hey, I am and yeah he is hot," Thomas said. "His green eyes and dimpled smile. Let's not forget that chiseled stomach and long frame. I would climb him all day." "Whatever," I huffed. "Don't worry, you're cute too," Thomas remarked. "You have a nice pair of big brown eyes and that bad boy thing going. I like your hair too and since your taller than me, I definitely like that." "Please stop," I said. "Oh come on, you used to play sports too, you have a nice body too," he said. I didn't say anything and I think Thomas noticed he agitated me. "Well, anyway, tons of girls will be into you." "Yeah, after they stop drooling over Miguel," I said. Marco laughed and agreed. "So, what's his story, why is he single?" I partially knew the answer but I wanted to know the whole story. "Oh, boy," Thomas grinned. I noticed Camila turn her attention back to us. "So he used to date Camila, the girl who's house you live in. He asked her out during the October carnival last year. I actually thought they had been dating already but I guess they made it official then. They were always together and hung out every day so girls knew he was off the market but that didn't stop them from looking. He was very protective of her and they were cute together but then well-," he didn't finish but I guessed what happened next. "Well, it's his fault," Marco's said in a low voice but I still heard him. I looked over to Camila and saw her get sad again. "Whatever, so tell me about this place," I said trying to change the subject. Marco started to talk about the town and the many festivals and events the school has. Camila went back to looking at Miguel but I ignored that and tried to pay attention to Marco. Finally, school was over. As I walked home I noticed Camila was listless. "What's wrong?" I asked. "You didn't talk to Miguel and we should try to do this sooner rather than later," she said. "I don't know him and he is older," I explained. "I can't just go up to him and say I need you to get over yourself and date Jennifer." "I know but please I don't want to see him so sad anymore," she said. "What makes you think he is sad," I said. Looking at Miguel today, he didn't really seem to be mourning he just looked like a typical loner. "He has a lot of friends and is always laughing and he didn't have his soccer stuff with him," she said. "He always practices during lunch but he was sitting alone. He didn't even eat." Well damn, I didn't even notice that and I did look up to glance at the guy a few times. "Look, I am trying, really, just give me some time," I told her. "But, I need to-," she didn't finish her sentence. "You're going to have to talk to me," I said. "I know but it's hard and too sad to talk about," she looked away from me. "Well, since your not going anywhere any time soon, I'll wait until your ready," I said. She smiled and tried to hold my hand. "Deal," she smiled. "So how did you like your first day?" "It was okay," I shrugged my shoulders. "So, can you tell me more about you?" Camila looked at me and thought I was perhaps joking. "Well, I like to sing and dance. I used to write my own songs. I loved being in the drama club and I loved my family. I was an only child so I know my parents are probably lonely but I hope they are okay. I like music and drawing," I noticed how she got sad and then tried to pick up her mood by changing the subject. "Will you sing me one of the songs you've written?" I asked her. "You want to hear it?" she questioned. "Yeah, why not," I said smiling slightly. "If you look inside me," she began singing and her voice was soft and angelic. The song was upbeat and she put her whole heart and soul into it. Her face was lit up and I knew she was enjoying singing it to me. "That was a really nice song," I said. "Really, I wrote it when I was twelve so it is kind of childish. I mean it's about wanting your first kiss," she said. I rolled my eyes thinking about her writing that song for or about Miguel. We made it home and Camila skipped all the way upstairs. My mom was already setting the table for dinner so I went upstairs and put my stuff down. I hurried downstairs since I was hungry. As I ate dinner with my family, I realized that Camila was alone upstairs. How long has she been up there? I knew everyone talked about her death like it recently happened but still it wasn't like last month or anything. She must have been here all alone all this time. And I know she misses her family and her friends. I then started to eat my dinner really fast. I told my mom I wanted to get started on my homework but I really just wanted to go be with Camila. I didn't want her to be alone anymore. It made me sad to think of her left all alone up there.
