Chapter 1: The wedding
He kissed her so hard on the lips and caressed her curvy waist, increasing his pace.
"Arggh," Kyle moaned, gripping the bed sheets tightly and enjoying the moment.
In the dark room, Kyle was having an affair with an estranged man who she thought was her fiancé. She was so drunk at that moment. The night passed on with Kyle enjoying sweet intimate moments with her supposed man.

**INTRODUCTION**
Kyle Ashford, a young and beautiful woman in her early twenties, faced constant challenges from her younger sister, Lila. Lila always coveted what belonged to Kyle, a tendency fueled by being their father's favourite. Mr. Ashford doted on Lila, giving her everything she wanted on a silver platter.
After their mother, Mrs. Ashford, passed away, Kyle was supposed to inherit everything, including a $30 million share in the Ashford family company. However, her father kept imposing conditions, the latest being that she must get married first so he could seal a deal with the Coopers. Feeling cornered, Kyle agreed. On the night before her wedding, seeking solace from her frustrations and nervousness, she ended up having an affair.

**The Next Morning**
The consistent ringtone of her phone woke her up. Still feeling drowsy, she stretched her right hand to grab the phone. It was Andrew, her fiancé. She quickly picked up the call.
"Hello," she said, her voice groggy.
"Kyle, where are you? The wedding ceremony has already started, and everyone is waiting for you," Andrew said, sounding worried.
"Why didn't you wake me up?" she asked, confusion evident in her voice.
"I've been calling you dozens of times all morning. Kyle, what's going on? Are you okay?" he asked, worry still in his tone.
"Uhh... um, I'm coming. I'll be right there," she replied hastily, ending the call and jumping out of bed without even glancing at the man still asleep beside her.
As she dressed quickly, her mind raced with a series of unanswered thoughts. How on earth could she forget her wedding? Such a big day?
She muttered to herself, "How on earth would someone forget that she's having a wedding? Such a big day?" Her voice was low as she grabbed the door handle of the sleek black car already waiting outside and let herself in.
The car zoomed off heading for the church. In thirty minutes, the car finally stopped in front of a huge church building. Kyle quickly alighted, grabbing portions of her white gown, and ran as fast as she could into the church. Everyone turned, and immediately, all eyes were on her.
"I apologize for the inconvenience, everyone," she pleaded as she walked down the aisle to meet Andrew and the priest, who had been standing there for long.
Clearing his throat first, the priest said, "Dear friends and family, we are gathered here today to join Andrew Cooper and Kyle Ashford in holy matrimony."
"Where have you been? Is everything okay?" Andrew asked Kyle in a whisper.
"There's something I need to tell you. I...I..." she stammered, her tearful eyes looking straight into his.
"What's wrong, honey?" he asked, still whispering, looking into her eyes, but she turned away.
"Come on, we're about to be husband and wife. Tell me everything. It's not bad, is it?" he said, holding her hands.
"Andrew, I slept with someone last night," she confessed in a scared tone, her voice barely audible.
---
Andrew's eyes widened in shock, his grip tightening on her hands. "What did you just say?" he whispered, disbelief and hurt clear in his voice.
Kyle's tears began to fall freely now. "I... I," she stammered, trying to explain herself.
"How could you?" He didn't let her finish her statement. "You slept with someone else right before your wedding day? Who does that?" He asked in confusion, turning to face her, but she looked down immediately with guilt and shame.
"Oh oh, I get it. You gave him the last right, didn't you?" he asked, disgust filling his voice.
He took a step towards Kyle, lifting her face by her chin and looking her straight in the eyes. "I can't do this."
"A... Andr..." Kyle tried to explain herself one more time. But before she could utter another word, Andrew interrupted her.
"Eh... hmm," Andrew cleared his throat and adjusted the red tie under his collar before turning to the congregation to address them.
People were already murmuring and looking at Kyle with disgust in their eyes. She was all covered up in shame. Lila, on the other hand, was enjoying the moment with a smirk playing on her lips as everything was going according to her plans.
"Go home; the wedding is cancelled," Andrew said to the congregation as he threw his ring on the floor and left in anger. Everyone else left one after the other without saying a word. Kyle was the last person to leave the church. She boarded a cab and went straight home, accepting whatever judgment her father would pass on her. In the space of 45 minutes, the cab stopped in front of her gate. She hesitated to even take a step from where she was standing.
Kyle stood there, feeling the weight of her actions crashing down on her. She took a deep breath, trying to muster the courage to face her father. As she walked up the path to the front door, memories of her mother flashed in her mind, filling her with both strength and sorrow.
Opening the door, she stepped inside to find her father waiting in the living room, his expression stern and unforgiving. Mr Ashford rose from his chair, his eyes narrowing as he took in the sight of his daughter, dishevelled and tear-streaked.
"Kyle," he began, his voice cold. "What happened?"
"Dad, I'm so sorry," she started, her voice trembling. "I... I made a terrible mistake."
Mr. Ashford sighed heavily, rubbing his temples. "I warned you, Kyle. I warned you about the consequences of not taking this marriage seriously. You have not only embarrassed yourself but also this family.
