Ethan grabbed her hand.
"Let me go! You're hurting me," Kyle pleaded, trying to free her wrist from his grip.
But he didn’t give up easily. He moved closer, leaving no space between them. His blue, piercing eyes locked onto hers. "Don't disrespect me like that. That's my money," he said, already p*ss*d off.
Kyle kept her gaze steady, not backing down. She smiled faintly and retorted, "I don't care how you feel right now because you asked for it."
Neither was willing to back down. They stared at each other until Roman interrupted, "Daddy!" he called out, wearing a bright smile.
"I'm not your dad, kid. Okay?" Ethan said harshly. Kyle wouldn’t accept that kind of talk towards her son, so she pushed Ethan aside. "Get out of the way," she said.
"Roman, come on, let's go," Kyle said, grabbing Roman by the hand and leading him to the back seat of the cab.
"See you later, Dad," Roman said, waving at Ethan, but Ethan looked away. Kyle hopped into the back seat. "Go, please," she said to the driver before finally slamming the door.
"I want you to find out as much as you can about that lady," Ethan instructed Kent in an annoyed tone as they boarded the next cab.
"Yes, sir," Kent replied, nodding his head.
"Follow that cab," Ethan instructed the driver, pointing to the cab Kyle had boarded with her son.
Kent turned to look at him in confusion. "But sir, you said you had an emergency—" His statement was cut short by the sharp reply from his boss.
"It's none of your business, Kent. Just find out about the lady," Ethan commanded.
"Okay, boss. I'm on it," Kent retorted.
"Who does she think she is?" Ethan thought as the cab zoomed off.

### ASHFORD MANSION
The cab halted in front of the Ashford mansion after 45 minutes. Kyle paid the driver and stepped out with Roman.
"Wow! It's beautiful, Mommy," Roman said in amazement, his eyes wide.
"Yes, son, it is," she said. "But please don't ask too many questions, okay? Comport yourself." She rubbed his head and kissed him on the forehead.
"I promise, Mom," Roman assured her with a bright smile.
"Okay! Let's go," she said, leading him to the big entrance door. They looked at each other before she finally pressed the doorbell. Immediately, Andrew appeared as if he had been waiting.
"Andrew?" Kyle asked in surprise.
"Kyle, it's been a while. You've changed a lot," Andrew replied, equally surprised.
Still shocked, Kyle asked, "What are you doing here?"
"Um..." Andrew began, rubbing his temple, but Lila appeared in a skimpy outfit that accentuated her curves. "Honey, who is it?" she asked, rubbing her eyes before turning to see Kyle. "Kyle, oh my God!" she exclaimed. "You are here. After all these years, you finally decided to show up? Oh! If you must know, I missed you so much." She smiled faintly.
She was about to leave when she noticed Roman beside Kyle. "Wait, who's this kid?" she asked, almost laughing. Kyle felt a flicker of anger but quickly suppressed it, knowing how toxic Lila could be.
"Oh, no, you have to be joking, Kyle," Lila continued. "Don't tell me you got pregnant from that one-night stand? Oh! You gave birth to it? Eww." Disgust filled her words.
"Watch it," Kyle clapped back. "If you say something like that again, you'll wish you were never born," she warned, pulling Roman closer.
Lila was enjoying the moment and was about to say more, but Andrew wouldn't have it. "Forget it, babe. Let's go back inside," he commanded, wrapping his arm around her waist.
Kyle, surprised, asked, "Wait! You two are...?"
"Oh! Daddy didn't tell you?" Lila interrupted. "Andrew and I are engaged, and the wedding's this weekend." She flaunted her engagement ring in Kyle's face.
"Congratulations. You two truly deserve each other," Kyle retorted, narrowing her eyes in disgust.
"Is she here?" a loud voice boomed from inside the living room.
"Yes, Daddy!" Lila replied at the top of her voice. "Well, I should get inside before Daddy gets mad," she said, holding Andrew's hand as they went inside.
"We wouldn't want that, right?" Kyle replied a s she led Roman into the mansion.
