Chapter3:A decade later

TEN YEARS LATER** Over the years, Kyle had been living abroad until her father suddenly called her to come back about half a month ago. Fortunately, she was not alone anymore. "Roman, how many times have I told you not to wander off without me?" Kyle queried her son, who had been exploring the airport freely like a butterfly. "I'm sorry, Mommy," he replied in a low tone. "It's okay, honey. I'm not trying to scold you. I just got worried when I couldn't find you. It's very dangerous to wander off without me, okay?" She patted his right shoulder and gave him a bright smile. But Roman, ever curious, asked, "But why are you worried, Mom? Isn't this our home, as you said?" "Oh my gosh!" Kyle muttered under her breath, rolling her eyes. "This was my home, but it's not anymore, Rome. You're my only family. Wherever you are, that's my home, okay?" She replied with a warm smile. "But Mommy, will we still get to see Daddy? Then we can finally be a real family?" Roman asked, looking up at his mom with naivety in his voice and eyes. "If only I knew who he is," Kyle thought to herself. "You ask too many questions, Roman. Let's go," she said, grabbing his hand and leading him to the airport pick-up point. --- **Airport Pick-up Point** "Welcome back, sir," Kent said with a wide warm smile. "Thanks, Kent," Ethan replied briefly, giving him a faint smile. He looked at his wristwatch, and it was past two. He turned to Kent and instructed him to get a cab. "But sir, the queue is long, and it seems like we're the last people in line," Kent replied, stating the obvious. However, Ethan wouldn't accept that, even if it was the truth. "Get me a cab ASAP. I need to see my mom immediately, and I need no excuses from you or anyone. Now make it happen," he insisted with authority in his voice. "Right away, boss," Kent retorted, feeling the wave of authority he couldn't resist. "Excuse me!""Excuse me, sir.""Excuse me, ma'am.""Thank you." Kent paved the way for Ethan to get to the front of the queue, where they finally met Kyle, who was in front with her son. "Excuse me, ma'am," Kent instructed Kyle to give way for his boss. But she turned and gave him a stone-cold look that startled him. Ethan saw her body language and decided to handle things himself. He stepped forward, adjusted his white shirt collar, and handed his black jacket to Kent. With his black shades still on, he stood in front of Kyle, towering over her as he cleared his throat, cutting through the silence. "Move out of the way," he said, holding her arm and trying to push her aside as if she was weightless. "Hey! What are you doing? We've been waiting here forever. You can't just cut in line," she said, trying to make sense of his actions. "How much do you want?" he asked as he pulled out some money from his wallet. Startled by his statement, she asked, "What?" Still counting out cash, he asked again, "You want money? How much for the cab? 500 bucks?" "Are you serious?" Kyle narrowed her eyes, still puzzled. He paused for a moment, then continued, "Do you want a thousand?" He finally took out a large amount of money and placed it in her hands. "Here you go. Take the money and scram," he said, smiling. But before he could do anything, Kyle threw the money back at his face. "What form of insult is this?" she asked. Surprised by her actions, he took off his shades immediately. He had never been treated like this before. "Seriously, are you kidding me right now? Who do you think you are?" he asked in amusement as he grabbed her hand. ---
