Bella POV
I jump instantly to my feet, but don’t make a step further. Alex closes the door carefully and leans against it.
“Care to explain what happened at the ceremony?” he asks, and I can tell he is forcing himself to sound calm.
I expected this- I spent the time after the ceremony trying to think of an answer. Which I do not have. I know he won’t believe me, but I have no choice.
“I have no idea, “ I say, “I just…”
“A false union will show broken shadows, “ he begins, “I expected everything, I was even prepared for a scenario where my wolves did not accept the union because you were not born as a wolf from the Shadow Crow. But I never considered that your shadow would move. Why did it?”
