Chapter 7

Everything fell silent for hours and hours, and now it seemed like death here and it was everywhere. That was the kind of silence they were surrounded by. The entire pack knew what had happened, some of them were celebrating this new discovery and some of them knew the truth. Of course, there were some of them who were so excited that their very own Evi was their queen now. As she was born in their pack. The mumbles and the happiness never stopped, but unfortunately, things were not the same in Alpha's mansion. There was no celebration among them, people were worried. "How is she right now?" The Luna asked the moment the packed doctor walked out of the room, she closed the double doors behind her and immediately Evi's family and friends were waiting very patiently in the hallway. All of them anticipating for an answer. "She is doing much better." The doctor said, "And her wolf." She let out, not being able to speak. "What happened? is something wrong?" River asked. "I see no weakness in her wolf. She is stronger, more powerful, especially now that her mate is right here with her. She has more power than she already did." She said and this confused the family, as to why she fell and was asleep. "But, I think that is what overwhelmed her wolf, and even overwhelmed Evi. Maybe that is why Flower put her to sleep for some time. But we don't really know how long it will take. Evi did not look like she would wake up anytime soon." The doctor informed them all. And now scaring the mother. "My god.." She whispered, fearing for her only girl. And without saying a word, River quickly walked right past all of them and went into the room, wanting to see her daughter. The Alpha did not stop her. He, on the other hand, had nothing to say but he knew he had to. "Is my daughter going to be okay?" He asked, even fearing those words. "She will be fine. Evi is very strong and everything is going perfectly well with her. I don't know what made her fall like that and put her to sleep, but maybe this was some sort of action for her mind, especially a second chance mate. It's something nobody has ever heard of. Of course, her wolf were devastated, maybe even shocked. This is a big deal ." She said, as her brothers sat there and even her pregnant sister-in-law were all listening to all of this very carefully. However, right at that moment, the Alpha was listening very carefully, and in many ways the Alpha understood it was the pure blood in her that might have done this, including everything that happened. "Thank you so much." He said, letting out a long huff, and the doctor walked out of there. As people once again fell silent. This day was not what all of them had thought. ................................................................................................................................................................................................ "Why are you standing out here?" Rann asked, as he walked down the stairs, walking behind the house where the Alpha lord stood. His hands were inside of his pocket and he was looking up at the moon almost as if Barka was thinking something very deeply. "She wants to be away with me for some time. I have already caused a lot of trouble, I want her to rest." Barka let out, speaking softy, but his tone was rough. He seemed a bit affected but stood strong. "She might feel better if you stayed closer to her." Rann said, but Barka wasn't having it. He shut his eyes, huffing out. "What are you even trying to do?" Barka finally asked. "Brother, for as long as I have known you, you did not want a mate and now what changed? What is making you stay here in this pack, and why haven't you felt. I expected that from you." He said, and Barka opened his eyes, but said nothing. "You know you are lying to yourself, you care about her and that was why you wanted her to come with you and why you are still here." Rann let out. "You don't know what you are talking about." Barka said, distressed, and that made Rann smile to himself. "And you do?" He asked, confidently, and almost immediately his voice came off rough too. "I don't know either, but she is in this position because of me, and everything inside of me is burning. She is not well and I caused that." Barka let out. He seemed like he hated his own skin and flesh, it made him sick. "You did not." Rann said, disturbed by his words. "You heard what happened. This might be your first chance, but this is her second chance, Barka." Rann explained, reminding him. And now walking closer to his brother, placing his hand on his shoulder for some comfort. "Let go of that idea, Barka. That you don't want anyone in your life, because you think you might hurt them. However, the truth here is that, maybe you not being with them, could hurt even more." He let and a sharp, hurtful pain fell on his chest, going deep in. "Your mate needs you, and now more than ever. Her family is scared for her, her friends are too and I know you are as well." Rann said, speaking from his heart, and speaking the truth. Something Barka hadn't heard him say before. He couldn't help but think that his brother was in distress as well. "How is she doing?" Barka asked, desperately wanting to know about her. Rann though, he let out a soft breath, nodding his head. "They said, she is fine and is still sleeping, just so she could relax. Grandmother is going to go meet her." Rann informed, and at that moment the Alpha lord looked away from the moon and down at the ground. He too nodded his head. Slowly the Alpha lord turned around looking at his brother, as this time he was the one who placed his hand on Rann's shoulder. "You go up there, be around her." He said, confusing Rann. "What do you mean?" He asked the Alpha lord. But Barka had nothing to say, as he turned from there. The man was walking away from there, but this time he was heading to a different direction. This time, going to the forest, a place he had no idea about. But he was well aware that nothing in this world would mess with the Alpha. But now Barka needed this time, and he wanted to think right and for that he needed to be alone. Barka's stride was so powerful as he walked away. The moon light was falling on him. Clearly, his brother could hear his wolf growling in anger and in pain. It was the same as the Alpha lord that he was, he could understand that this was not easy for him as well. His long years of belief was completely destroyed. This was challenging for both mates, as they were dealing with the same problem in different ways. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................... ...........Knock knock............... A knock came, as River looked up and away from her daughter for that one second. "Come in." She said, only to see the queen mother making her way inside the room. She looked a little weird as that small woman made her way inside, still dressed up in her beautiful gown she had to wear for the wedding that was today. "How is she doing?" She asked, walking closer to the girl who was asleep, but she already had so much love and respect for her and all because Evi here was her Queen, and the same Queen that she has been waiting for years. Nothing has changed. "My daughter isn't moving." River said, and now she was so emotional that she couldn't even speak up. Slowly the Queen mother walked up to her, setting down her hand on River's shoulder. "Don't worry, the moon goddess will help everyone who asks for help, and I believe that our Queen is very strong enough to pull herself out of sleep, and what ever she is going through." The Queen mother said. And immediately River nodded her head, tears coming out of her eyes. "My daughter is very strong." River let out, almost crying and the Queen mother immediately knew that she needed her strength. "My daughter is a warrior." She said, bringing a bigger smile on her face. "Is that so?" The Queen mother asked. "This is nothing. She will be fine." River let out. And she was saying only good things, hoping for good and great to come. And suddenly, the door opened and both of them glanced away to see the Alpha by the door. " My love, why don't you come out and eat something?" He said, walking inside and quickly, River shook her head softly, taping Evi's forehead and was holding on to her hand. "I can't leave my daughter," She said even more so worried. "I will be here with her." The queen mother said, alarming both of them. "I know she does not know me, but we have always been a family River. and now she is my responsibility as well." The queen mother said, and this got them thinking. River believed her because she had known the Queen mother since she was a child. "I'll take care of her, you go rest." The Queen mother said and her words came out comforting and this was a solution. They had no doubt of her help, her assistance, her morals. And so River nodded her head and turned, walking away. Everyone eventually left her, leaving the Queen mother there all alone, Evi. She had some peace there, as she looked down at her and her people's queen. The woman she had been waiting for years and years now, and he had wanted to see her, before she took her last breath. A smile grew on her face, as the peace came to her and it was because of Evi and her wolf, her presence. And here she was. Slowly Queen mother sat down, taking Evi's hand in hers and right at that moment she felt a surge in her body. It was blissful. She was a true blessing from the moon goddess and the Queen mother felt her wolf and the authority that they both held. "For years, I have been praying for the day to come." She whispered, hoping that the queen could hear her. And even though she was asleep, it did not matter. She wanted to speak to her. "My grandson had made it his at most decision, that he wouldn't bring a mate into his life." She said, shaking her head, pain still there. "And I wouldn't blame him." She whispered, looking at her daughter. "Being a king sounds amazing, it looks beautiful from the outside and from far away. But taking care of a Kingdom has made life very difficult for a lot of people in it, and for Barka as well. Because this kingdom was made by blood and flesh and tears. I can understand........" She said, pausing, it was hard for her to do this. She looked down at Evi again. "I can understand that this might not be easy for you. A dead mate, and now this... but at one point of time, you have to understand that whatever the moon goddess does, she has a reason behind it. Life is not just a game being played and she knows that as well." She said, speaking from her heart and glancing at the sleeping Queen. Slowly she placed her hand back on her stomach. Because now she said what she had to say to her. And now getting up, letting her rest as much as she wanted too, she was ready to go. "I am very glad you have lived with us, and in this world. And my grandson has you mate. And I promise you Evi, promise you that we will do anything we can to help you through this. Through everything. It will get better." She said, blessing her, and making sure she understood this. Even if Evi was listening or not listening, the Queen mother just wanted to talk to her Queen. She couldn't help herself.
