Chapter 17

The next morning came very quickly, too quick quickly, and it wasn't as bad as Evi would have thought as well. Once out of her room whose doors were broken, she walked down and Evi was ready for another day to come, realising that just in a few days she would be crowned a queen, and it was actually something she was waiting for as that for that day to come. She would get to meet her family, and all of her people. Something she was dying to do and now she would get to do it. Once Evi was outside, she saw that the entire house was a mess, there were multiples women there as well. But most of them working and the rest of them were following around the Queen mother, while Nori was outside on the balcony. Standing with a few of her friends. While this confused Evi as to what was going on her. Immediately Nori noticed the Queen to be, and was delighted to see her. "Evi...." She called out the moment her eyes landed on Evelet." "Good morning." She said, smiling brightly at Evi, leaving her friends behind and walking up to the queen. "What is happening here?. Why are there so many people?" Evi asked. "Don't worry about them, they are not here to officially meet you or anything like that. It's just that your crowning is in two days, so the Queen mother decided that we would go out today and get you a gown." She said, and Evi was stunned. "The Queen mother is just instructing everyone on what to do, because she won't be here for a few hours and a lot can change if she is not here for a few hours." Nori said to her and that was a bit shocking for Evi. She was learning more and more about this place. And also to how much responsibility Queen mother had her in this castle. Which eventually Evi knew she would get to have as well. That is all and well. How ever, that gave her slight anxiety. "Okay, so what happened last night? I heard Barka was screaming. We were so scared, I didn't even get out of my room." Nori said, actually freaking out. This also surprised Evi. Never the less, she smiled it away like it was nothing. "Same old thing, I think we were both just screaming at each other." She said and Nori couldn't help but think that was strange. She frowned at that statement. "I know I shouldn't say this about you and the king, but I have never seen mates fight like this. It is so strange." She said, as they both walked down the stairs and to the main hall from right where now Evi could see there were multiple cars standing outside of the castle, and a lot of them were black. Nori noticed that, and she was also glancing at those cars, smiling softly at the queen. "Don't worry about any of this. I know all of this looks and sounds a lot but you will get used to it. And after what you said yesterday, I kind of started to understand you. I know that change is difficult and scary, but it has to happen also." Nori said, making Evi agree and nod her head. "And these cars are for you, me and the Queen mother. We will all be travelling together and the rest of them are for your protection," Nori said. "All of them?" She asked and Nori nodded her head like it was nothing. "It is necessary, we only had a few of them but Barka forced to get a few more. He has been outside taking care of all the transportation for us, making sure security was even tough, it is the protocol here." She said, and Evi was stunned to know. She though he didn't care about anyone, but he cared about his family, a lot. "I mean, he was always very kind and sweet to all of us, I mean his version of kind and sweet." Nori said, and Evi actually understood that. She stared at her, listening to her carefully. "But now that you are here, he just sounds, talks and does things differently. I am telling you, this mate thing is getting to him." She said and this was not surprising to Evi. It just came off as a shock. "Where is he right now?" Evelet asked, looking around for him and some how right now Nori gave her a very sinister smile. "Are you missing him?" she asked, and it was very innocent as well. But instantly the queen gave her a very deadly look. Shocking Nori and her smile dropped. "He brought me food yesterday night, I just wanted to thank him." She said, lying because she had already thanked him that night, but had nothing more to say to Nori here. Never the less, Nori backed away, still a smile growing on her face. "Let's go then, my love." The Queen mother said to Evelet, leaving the ladies behind and walking after her. "She didn't have her breakfast yet Queen mother." Nori let out. "Don't worry about it, we will have something to eat outside. We just cannot waste any time. The coordination is already close and your gown is very important. Come on, let's go." The Queen mother said, and Evi agreed. Because getting some fresh air would do her very good, as it did last night when she went to the garden, it will now as well. "Let us," Evi said, and walked out of the house, and into the bright morning light. All three of them walked out, and as Evi stepped out, immediately all the guards around her were on high alert. All of them standing up straight and the Roles Royce which was right head of them, one of the drivers opened the door for the ladies. She walked down the stairs and right a that moment came up the Beta of the pack. "Good morning." He said respectfully to Evi. "Good morning." She said softly. "I am honestly very sorry that I haven't introduced myself to you. Things have been a little difficult to come by." He said being very professional with her.. And Nori kept her eyes on her husband, smiling softly. "Not at all, I can understand." Evi said. "I just wanted to let you know that I will be your guard, your personal guard for as long as you live." He said, making all of this a bit more serious for Evi. This was not a normal "hi" and "hello" for her. She was actually struck. "What?" Evi said, not really knowing what more to say. "Yes, he normally used to take care of Barca, but now he is in charge of you, Evi." Nori said out loud, and quickly Nori gave him a small smile. "Is there any reason for this kind of security?" She asked. "You are a Queen, soon to be Queen and you need this kind of security all the time." Santo let out. "Why because people try to attack a Queen all the time?" Evi asked, even shocked. "Yes.." Nori said this time, scaring the living hell out of her Queen. And she stared at her in pure disbelief. "They do?." She asked again, completely freaked out. How ever the Beta quickly grabbed on to her wife and stopped her. "Not at all, and not all the time." He said, not actually helping her, and nothing about his statement made Evi calm down. She just stood there, not honestly knowing what to say or do. How ever, slowly she looked away from both of them, and glanced at her mate who was standing right ahead of her, at the bottom of the stairs and he was just watching her. Both the beta and Nori, both of them backed away when they saw him. And the Queen walked right past them. Quickly, Evi made her way down the stairs, as they stood right in front of each other. A small gasp between them. Barka had both his hands in his pocket and she had her hands behind her back. "How are you today? are you feeling better?" He asked her, actually concerned, but his voice and his tone came of so strangely strict and so much in authority. Never the less, she nodded her head, looking away from him, because it was difficult for her to keep eye contact with Barka. But she glanced back at him never the less. "Are you coming with us?" She asked. "No, I have a lot of work here. Especially because of the coronation, I have to finish everything very quickly." He said and she actually understood that, and was a little upset that he wasn't going to be there. She was kind of shocked that she was even thinking that. "How are you feeling now?, did you get enough sleep?" He asked her, wanting to know more. How ever, she started at him a little longer than necessary. "Are you honestly worried about me?" She asked and Barka, on the other hand, he clenched his jaw staring down at the women he was actually being very kind to. Something he was not to any stranger. "You are my mate, of course I am worried about you." He said to her,, and she tried very hard not to give any expression, controlling her face and muscles. "I know you didn't eat anything this morning, and I don't appreciate that." He said. "Don't worry about me. Queen mother said she would feed me something eventually." She said. and he nodded at her reply. "That is better." He said, and now she was done. "Have you ever talked to anyone as a human before?. Is that something you have done?" She asked this and for Barka this was something he did not see coming, did not even understand what she was trying to say. "What do you mean?" He asked. "What I mean is that, have you ever been nice to anyone. I mean, what you did yesterday for me was very nice, I liked it and thank you. I really wanted to eat. But other than that, do you always talk to people like this..... like........" Evi said, pausing for a second and trying to think of a word. While he stared at her for sometime, enjoying this small bickering moment they had with each other. He was just looking at her confused eyes, her small nose and her pouting lips, that never stopped pouting. "Like a king?" He asked her, and she nodded her head, making her hair fall back and forth. Whatever she was doing, it was just peering right through Barka's heart. Honestly, he has never felt this in his life's experience. Never some thing like this before and he had no idea how to feel about this either that It went deep into his soul, his heart. He had to force himself to look away from her, and everywhere else. Seeing how the Queen mother was sitting down and his Beta Santo was waiting right behind Evelet, very close to her, but close enough to keep her protected, watching his surroundings and watching her surroundings. "That is exactly how I am. How I will always be. Just like you wouldn't change for me, I wouldn't change for you and this is how a human talks as well." He said, clearly up everything with her. "I have never seen anyone talk like that........." She whispered to herself. "Santo will stay with you." Barka said, immediately changing the topic and as he looked behind her, she too turned around as well, acknowledging his presence as she smiled at Santo one more time, while Santo nodded his head. "He is the best fighter we have, and you don't have to worry about anything. He will take care of anything." He said, slowly looking down at her. "Also, I have heard that you are an amazing fighter yourself. I think you might be able to take care of the entire team that is going with you." He said, not joking about it, but wanting to say it out loud. But this confused Evi. "Are you trying to make fun of me?" She asked. "Not at all." He said almost immediately. "When it comes to talent, practice and good skill, I never make fun of things. That is something to be appreciated and as a Queen, you have to have skills to protect your pack, both for you and your kingdom." He said, reminding her of the truth that she keeps on forgetting. Never the less, she gulped softly and a little taken a back. But she nodded her head. "If there is anything you need, I would prefer you ask Sant. And if you don't feel well, you need to let him know as well. You are still a little unwell, I have talked to your doctor....." He went on and on, and she was listening while softly playing with her heels. Moving it down and up, it was like a parent was giving instructions to a child before she went to school. However, unconsciously something happened, and her heel slipped and so did she. "Shit.." She let out. She saw herself fall, but quickly Barka grabbed on to her hip, holding her steady and pulling her back and up. How ever, so close and so fast that her face almost landed on his face, it was so close. Evi's eyes never shut, she just gasped. "You need to be more careful." He said to her, and at this moment she couldn't even speak. She simply nodded her head. "Yes.............." She said, because that was the only thing she could say. However, slowly Evi started to back away from him, all because everywhere that he had touched her, she felt a very sharp sparkles running everywhere. The scent that she felt getting so close to him was so mesmerizing, and if it was up to her, she would never back away from him. Her wolf screaming at her to not move. And he too, did not want to let go of her. He had to force his body and his hands as they were holding her so tight. Because he did not want to let her go. Holding her there gave him so much peace in his life that he had never experienced before. Never the less, they both backed away and Santo wanted to help his queen, but actually he thought that this was a good idea and so he backed away and saw everything that happened. Loved every moment of it. Slowly glancing at his best friend because he couldn't wait to talk about this later. However, the king, on the other hand, he gave him a death stare. Which of course, did not even close to work on Santo. He simply walked down the stairs as Evelelt was moving away from Barka. Getting into the car with the queen mother and Nori. "Do you want to talk about it?" Santo said as both of them were crossing each other.. Barka walked up the stairs and Santo down to the cars. "You will be skinned alive." Barka let out, and Santo chuckled to himself, getting into the car and right next to the driver. The cars then quickly took off, and Barka watched as they got out and completely away from the property, out of the gate. And there he knew that she would be safe. He did not know why that was important for him, but that was something he wanted for her. Something inside of him was itching, wanting to see her back in one piece, just the way she left. It was not a lot to ask. "She is leaving." Misi said, coming up from behind him and out of no where. "And she will be back." He said almost immediately, and Misi nodded her head. "Of course, or......... she won't. Anything can happen." She said, not wanting to go through all of this. However, he then turned towards Misi. "What does that mean?" He asked, honestly seeing a complete change in him. "Did she really see him?" She asked, no longer wanting to talk about that. "Yes, she told me about the same eyes, the scar right next to his cheeks. What does any of that mean?" He asked her and she shrug her shoulders. "Many things. This old rivalry between you and Arth has been living on for thousands of years. It went on with your grandfather, with your father and now you. Everyone of them went for the respective queens, or wanted the land or the queen. And at this moment I cannot tell you what exactly he might want, but for someone to see an image in a dream and a full face is never a good thing. And a face that exists too," She said. "Is there black magic involved in any of this?" He asked. "Evelet was afraid, and she was crying." He said, seriously worried about his Queen. How ever, Misi stared at him for sometime. "I am liking the way you are turning into a different person around her." She said, not skipping a beat. "I am not turning into anyone. She is the queen of this land, and she must be safe. Everyone who lives under my order or lives in this castle have to be safe." He said, like it was nothing. "But she is your mate. You have a soft corner for." Misi said to him, reminding him. "To me she is just a queen for this land, and nothing more. I am mostly worried about the kingdom. If somebody is going to come back here asking for war, he is going to get a war" He said, turning back to look out the gates at the kingdom that he had built up. "Maybe he is not asking for a war this time." She said. "Maybe there is a reason she in particularly saw Arth in her dream, and saw the man she had never seen before. Identified him by his exact look." She said, and without even knowing, immediately he fisted his hand into a ball, pushing his nails into his palm as his veins came out and were rushing. "May be, this all has to do something with Evi." She said and that was all she had to say, because right after speaking to him, she walked down the stairs, getting away from the king. He had to force himself to look away from the kingdom and back at Misi. "Is there anything you want to say to me?" He asked, making her stop on her track. "s there something you are hiding?" Barka asked yet again, which only made her smile softly. "Only time can show you what is right and wrong. I am not always right." She said. "Let me know when Anya is coming." She said, walking away from there and back to her cave that she had built all by herself, 1000 of years ago. And leaving the king there all alone in his thoughts. As of now, his heart started to beat faster, only hoping that Evelet would come back to the kingdom, safe. He didn't even know he was thinking of her this way.
