Chapter 12

2644 Words
The entire night went away like it was nothing, and the morning came very quickly too. However, the light of the sun, bright, hot morning sun was making its way into the room and right through the balcony and the bedroom, making everything warm in its embrace. Evi was sleeping on her bed, her covers pulled over her chest and tightly she was holding it, very warm and very comfortable and deep in her sleep. Evi was in bliss, in there. However, the sun's heating was falling on her face, and it was only making it difficult for her to enjoy that calm and amazing sleep that she was living through. And unfortunately, she was slowly started to blink, opening her eyes and getting herself out of that amazing state. Even though she did not want to. Evi let out a small yawn, pushing her cover away from her chest as she spread her body throughout that enormous bed, that was much better than, and bigger than a king size. This was a Empire size bed. "HHHHMMMMMMM.." She hummed, moving here and there. Although this was not deep of a concern here, Evi was very comfortable there. Slowly, then Evi opened her eyes, a smile forming on her face. Something she did not predict but it just so happened, and that was when Evi realized where she was, and not in her house but in the castle where she had come last night. The carving on the ceiling gave it away to her. Of course, it was deeply strange and shocking for that one moment, but she had come to terms with it. However, it was still a bitter, sweet moment. Bitter all because of Barca, but sweet because of everything else. Mostly her people, and mostly because her wolf was finally out in the open. Now she did not seem unhealthy as before, something that only made it difficult for her to understand if a second chance mate was a real thing. Because for Barka, it was his first mate, but for her it was different. Never the less, immediately she shook her head, not wanting to think too much about it. "Just calm down. It's your first day here, you don't have to give yourself a heart attack." She whispered to herself, pushing her body up, much easily. She had a great sleep, realizing there was no nightmare after a very long time. Evi was stunned, she raised her eyes, confused but impressed with this sudden change in her body and behaviour and her environment. Never the less, she brought herself out of bed and stepped out. And then Evi stepped her barefoot down, feeling warm and comfortable. Her hair was all over the place, but she did not care much about it. Dressed up in her comfortable pajama's, she looked around her room. It looked much different in the broad day light, like a different place. However, Evi understood that she couldn't waste much time here. She was the queen of this place, and she had to be prepared for that. Not knowing what preparing that was for, but now she was alone. This was the alone time she wouldn't be getting for a long time now. And so she decided to utilize it. And so quickly she sprinted, a swift movement. Making her way to the bathroom to get ready for the day. Evi had no idea about what this day would bring, not close to even being prepared for it. But she knew she had to do that. However, outside of this room, back in the main hall, it was entirely different there. The elders of the kingdom, the ministers, everyone were standing there patiently, waiting for the king and queen to arrive. Where the Queen mother sat. "I do apologize that we couldn't meet yesterday night. . The Queen was very tired." She explained. As one of the ministers nodded his head. "Not at all, we did get a small glimpse of her. None of us would want to put her through a lot of pressure, but meeting her would be the best. Before she meets the people." He said. "Of course," Queen mother said, smiling brightly. And she noticed everyone standing up in front of her. That could only indicate that the king was there. Turning around The Queen mother saw that it was her grandson after all. A big smile growing on his face. "Your highness..." One of them said, as everyone bowed down together. He walked down the stairs, thinking about why everyone was there. "Is something wrong?" He asked, right then seeing Santo walking into the castle as well. "We were just here to bless you and the queen together, wanting to see you both together." The Elder spoke, happy to have this conversation. Their Queen was here and that was a great news for them. "We especially wanted to gift her something," He said, moving aside and letting one of the oldest witch come forward. She was around 200 years old, losing her grip on reality, but one of the most powerful people, witches in the existence. She walked out, her back hunched and her white and silver hair tied into a braid. Everyone in the kingdom had amazing respect for her, but more over it was Barca who loved and cared about her the most. He quickly walked up to her, holding on to the old lady tight in his grip. "What is that Misi?" He asked, and slowly the woman finally opened her closed palm, only to show a black ribbon or thick thread of some sort. He had seen that before, but did not understand what it was. However, it was a different experience for Queen mother. She smiled at that beautiful gift. "This was something a king and a queen tie together. It's the oldest tradition we have. They both come together in front of the pack. They come out with this. I have tied this to many kings and queens over the years. I will do it for you and your daughter or son in the future." Misi said, only looking up at the large and successful king that he was. She was happy to do something like this to a man she saw growing up. However, he had no expression on him, he simply just held her tight. "Why don't you go bring our Queen?" She said and even though he was a king, he was simply listening to her command, nodding his head. Without another word, his eyes glanced at his best friend and Beta of the kingdom, Santo. The man who was smirking at him, enjoying this mate thing happening between the king. Seeing how this irritated Barka . And all Barka could do was squint his eyes, giving Santo a death look. Turning around, he stared making his way towards his mate, to be bride, queen and wife. So many names, but still he could call her nothing. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................... She, on the other hand, walked out of the room. How ever dressed in a beautiful elegant white dress, a large cut in the front showing off her legs. Her hair was slightly wet. She was trying to wipe them off with a towel, not really concentrating because her concentration was only on the phone with her mother. "Are you sure that is all that happened?" Her mother asked, and quickly she stopped whipping her hair and looked at herself in the mirror. "Mom, of course I know. I was right there." She said. "How did you feel ?" She asked, hearing the smile even though she couldn't see her mother. Evi was recalling the faces of her people and it made her feel at home even though she was in a new place. She too had a smile on her now. "It was nice mom, I can't wait to go out. But if I go out..................." "You have to meet him?..." River said, and Evi was already irritated. "Give him a chance, he is your mate. I can't believe you are giving him a hard time, giving a king a hard time." Mom said, and now she rolled her eyes. "I am not giving anyone a hard time, this is new for me too. It's not easy for me as well. Why is it that you keep thinking of him before me? I am your child." She said, fighting this time. However, her mother did not say anything but started to laugh and that was something Evi did not like. "You will never change," River said. "Not even trying to." She said back. This entire conversation was suddenly interrupted when Evi felt something or someone getting closer to her. Her wolf started to get out from her calm sleep, jumping here in there at the acknowledgment of her mate.He was here and Flower was more than happy. "I will call you back later mum." She said when suddenly there was a knock on the door, immediately her eyes shut, not wanting to talk to him now. "Okay, you be good. Don't try to bother anyone but speak up. I didn't teach you to keep your mouth shut. You are a Queen, so start learning to be the part. So, don't be sad about it honey." Her mother said and the only thing Evi could do was nod her head, cutting the call when suddenly the doors of her room opened up and her eyes went wide.. Because of the sudden noise it made, she freaked out. Evi could never get used to it. Immediately she turned around to see her dear old mate. She was holding on to the towel and phone in her hands, suddenly she feeling this strange happiness in her body. This was a side, it was so overwhelming. Although, beautiful as it was, nice and all. She refused to except it as nice at all. How ever at the moment, Barka looked at her. And instantly something shifted inside of him as well. The man was taken a back by the rare beauty that she was. Her large eyes were the one that captivated him. Her always having the same old pout on her lips, that never left her. The same old anger was right on her nose. Yes, that also never left, but her wet hair together with all of that looked so beautiful to her. How ever, he wouldn't say it out loud, but he couldn't believe he was thinking of that as well. "What?" Evi asked, seeing him stand there, while staring at her. "Are you settling in this room?" He asked. "Well......" She let out a large huff, and stared at the Alpha lord. Evi didn't say anything to him, she went on with her work. "Is there anything you would want?" He asked with full confidence. "I want you to leave......" She said almost swiftly. "This is my home, our home.." He reminded her. "Yes, and this place is a very big place, this will make it easier for each other to not look at one another all the time." She said, which made him chuckle, but he kept it to himself. "You are my mate Evelet.." "And that is very unfortunate, but you have never wanted one right? Something about your power being spread. And I don't think I am your mate. It seems like I am your guest here, staying with you in your castle," She let out, looking at him through the mirror. He was amused by this, the man couldn't even look away from her. "This place is very beautiful, by the way," She whispered softly. "Are you saying you are not my mate?" He asked her again. "I am saying, I don't believe this bullshit. What ever my wolf is feeling must be wrong." She explained, not done with her hair yet. "And why?" He asked. "Don't put this on me, you did not want this life either. But what made you change so much?" She asked, turning around. Now she wanted to know. "Why are you willing to fight for it ?, hmm?" She asked, smirking. "Let me guess, is it power?" She asked, and right then he lost his smile, staring at her. "Is it that easy for you to reject me?" He asked. "Easily.........." She said almost immediately, as a smile grew on him this time. "I can see that..." He whispered. She rolled her eyes, realizing it was not going anywhere. "I don't know what changed inside of you, but I will never find that change inside of me. You will never ever have anything grow inside of me for you." She said to him loud and clear. However, Barka walked into the room, his eyes stuck to her. Calm as ever, he reached her, getting too close. Forcing him to back away, but slowly he took her hand in his, surprising her as he placed his hand on his chest. The heat between them was too much, and sharp as well. "I understand we both wanted the very same thing. What happened between us came out of nowhere. What I am feeling is something I cannot express or even explain, but do you not feel anything right here?" He asked, him actually wanting to know. This was a theory that Barka wanted to test, if whatever he was going through was something that she was going through as well. Evi slowly looked down, feeling her heart beat getting heavy and faster. However, it was the same for him too. She didn't know what to say to him, all because her mind was screaming to back away, but every inch of her body, blood, skin was forcing her to stay there. Although, she quickly pulled away from him, roughly. It was difficult in his grip but she tried, how ever he let go of her as well. He never took his eyes off of her. "I don't want to talk about this," She whispered. "Not about the truth?" He asked. Although, she just slowly moved a little closer to him. "The moment you give me the answer as to why you changed your mind, why you brought someone you did not want in your life to your house, that day I will answer if I ever felt something today.." She said, not holding back. The king was impressed by her, too much for the power she held in her. A Queen can not fear and she had none of that in her. This surprised him. Yes. But he wanted to know more about himself around her now. Slowly Barka nodded his head, understanding her and enjoying this challenge that she was giving him. "You are needed down stairs, you should probably dry your hair." He said, slowly pushing her wet hair out of the way, and behind her shoulder. Once again, feeling a very heavy shock in his hand, but he started to back away. Fisting his hand into a ball, and giving her no expression. How ever she just stood there. Holding the towel close to her chest, trying not to breath heavy. Both of them were affected. "Right now?" She asked him, but he was walking away from her. "Why am I needed downstairs? What's happening?" She asked, as he was getting out of the room. "A lot, but something that's going to make our bond even stronger with each other and the people. Hope you are ready for that."He said, confusing her even more so. She frowned in irritation. "You can just give me a normal answer." She whispered, done by his wordplay from him. Although, stressed a little, she threw the towel on the bed, knowing that the day had just begun, and yet there was still so much to go on with.
