Lucas’ POV
It was pure torture for Lucas to sit in front of his mate and not take her into his arms. He gave up on trying to focus on anything that Alpha Antonio was spewing a long time ago and has let his Beta take over control of the negotiations, or whatever this farce of a peace summit was meant to be.
Every time that Lucas would look towards his beautiful mate, her eyes would suddenly drift to a place on the table, a slight blush appearing on her cheeks. Lucas found her shyness endearing and wondered what it would feel like to have her naked body spread out beneath him. He had to adjust himself countless times underneath the table from his constant wandering thoughts.
One thought has plagued his mind even more than what it would feel like to be one with his mate. Why hasn’t his mate acknowledged him to her parents? It is clear that she is interested, but yet she has made no move to address their newfound bound at all during these proceedings. Not that Lucas had much room to talk seeing as he didn’t say anything either.
All eyes suddenly turn to Lucas expectantly, causing him to realize that he must have missed something that was said to him. From the corner of his eyes, he watches as Summer lifts her slender fingers to her lips in an attempt to hide her amused giggle.
Her mother shoots a glare her way, immediately wiping the beautiful smile that Lucas has enjoyed so much from her face. A warning growl erupted from Lucas’ chest before he realized what he was doing. The sound of his growl caused all chatter to stop around them as all eyes turned in his direction.
‘You need to control yourself better, Alpha.” Sebastian emphasized the word Alpha to remind Lucas of his position and what all that entails.
Lucas plastered on an apologetic look, not really caring if the wolves present were offended by his growl. Only one wolf mattered to him, and that was his beautiful mate. Summer… Such a lovely name for such a lovely wolf. Lucas’ mind once again wanders to what it would feel like to have Summer’s naked body writhing beneath him in pleasure.
“Is that acceptable to you, Alpha Lucas?” The sound of Alpha Antonio’s voice was like a bucket of water splashed to cool Lucas’ mounting desire. Shifting uncomfortably in his seat, Lucas sends a pleading look in the direction of his Beta, receiving a look of amusement as his response.
Letting out a frustrated breath, Lucas returned his attention back to Alpha Antonio. “I must apologize Alpha Antonio.” The word ‘apologize’ stuck in Lucas’ mouth, tasting foul to him. Alpha’s don’t apologize to others, but in this case Lucas was willing to make an exception. Anything to encourage his beautiful mate to want to leave with him.
“My mind seems to have wandered from our conversation.” Anger blazed in Alpha Antonio’s eyes for a moment before he smoothed it away quickly. “Could you repeat the question?”
Alpha Antonio opens his mouth to repeat what him and Beta Sebastian had been talking about but was interrupted when a flash of lightning erupted outside of the tent, sending she-wolves to run through the clearing with screams coming from their lips.
“What the hell is going on out there?” Luna Rose gasped at Lucas’ use of a cuss word, her hand moved up to cover her lips. Lucas rolled his eyes at the Luna’s reaction, not really caring for pleasantries at this time when it was clear that they were under attack. But by who?
Lucas got up from his seat at the table, secretly grateful for the interruption to the snoozefest that he was currently being forced to endure. Sebastian and Tobias rose from their seats right after, following their Alpha out of the tent to assess the threat that appeared outside.
Lucas stopped in his tracks when his eyes were met with a being that he has not seen in a very long time. Sebastian and Tobias nearly barrel into him when he stopped, not expecting him to stop so suddenly outside of the tent. Alpha Antonio peaked out from behind the tent flap like the coward that he is, before a genuine smile spread across his face when his eyes met that of his mighty God.
“What is going on here?” Zeus’ voice boomed across the clearing, halting all movement as everyone turned to eye the new arrival with a little bit of fear and a lot of interest.
Alpha Antonio pushed his way out of the tent, eager to greet Zeus, his one true God. Bile rose in Lucas’ throat at that thought. Zeus has caused nothing but trouble for Lucas throughout his long life and he was not eager to greet the vengeful God now, or ever.
‘Should we be worried?’ Sebastian’s voice flooded Lucas’ mind, his eyes trained on the appearance of Zeus and the man that came along beside him. ‘Who is the other one?’
Lucas’ eyes moved from Zeus to the man that he hadn’t noticed before Sebastian drew attention to the man. “Shit.”, he mumbles under his breath, recognizing the second man instantly from previous dealings with him over the centuries.
‘Hades.’
One word is all it took to have Sebastian’s body stiffening in readiness for whatever s**t show was about to commence with the arrival of Zeus and his younger brother Hades. Sebastian wasn’t born the last time that Hades made an appearance at the Blood Moon pack so he had never met the God, but Lucas had relayed stories to him so he understood just how dangerous the King of the Underworld could be.
‘What are they doing here?’ Tobias spoke up for the first time, after shaking himself out of the fearful trance that he had found himself in upon arriving in the clearing.
“We are here, fellow Grecian-” A smirk appeared on Zeus’ face as he stared hard at Tobias’ surprised face. “To put an end to whatever foolishness that is going on out here today.”
Alpha Antonio’s jaw dropped, his widened eyes locked onto his God with confusion. “But you are the one that encouraged me to continue to attempt an alliance with the Blood Moon pack all of these years.”
Zeus’ head whipped in his direction in an instant, his beady eyes staring Alpha Antonio down until he bared his neck in deference, his gaze moving down to his feet in submission. “I have done no such thing!” Lightning sparked from Zeus’ body, hitting the ground around him in a show of anger.
Alpha Antonio jumped in his spot beside me, showing his cowardice and making Lucas sick. How can this man call himself an Alpha!
Just then a woman appears in the clearing, her beauty like nothing that Lucas has ever seen before, but still nothing compared to the beauty that he has found in his mate. The light from the sun seemed to cling to the woman, causing a glowing effect to appear around the newcomers body.
“Why is he here?” An angry scowl appeared on the woman’s face, her arms moved to cross under her scantily clad breasts, sending them up and almost over the top of her toga. Her angry gaze was set upon Hades, who slowly put his hands up in the air in innocence, or maybe surrender.
“The better question is what are you doing here, Wife?”
